Who knows. Maybe nothing more than speculation.
I will note that a) Petrie stank the place up for years; and b) Petrie suggested trading Cuz to new ownership when they took over. The latter if true is especially damning.
But with Vlade here, guys like Doug and Bobby showing up on the media side, maybe the old Kings are making a comeback. Still, Geoff could end up being nothing more than an unofficial advisor helping Vlade with the GM ropes for the first year.

Is this just a rumor or has there been proof of this? Petrie drafted him, so I don't think he would suggest trading him, knowing how hard it is to get a franchise type player.
I could see the Maloofs giving that suggestion though, I would hope Petrie wouldn't.

If this is true, and Petrie was one of the previous management that wanted to trade DMC, I don't know if you should really bring him back as GM.
As an adviser maybe, but as GM, you may cause a whole new problem with DMC.
PDA may have done a lot of stuff, but he did have DMC's back when they signed him to his max deal.

I do remember reading somewhere that Vlade has already been using Petrie as a source of advice. When he first got to Sacramento they go together if I'm remembering what I saw correctly.

I have often wondered if Petrie in an advisory/mentoring role to Vlade could work but then I wonder what his relationship with DeMarcus Cousins is like and I am not sure. If hopefully PDA leaves, then someone with extensive experience in the front office is really needed and Petrie's existing relationship with Vlade makes him the front runner in my eyes.

While it wouldn't surprise me that the suggestion has been made (given that Petrie suspended DMC a few times along the way) I am skeptical to believe anything that comes out of this franchise given their history of throwing mud at departing people. Just look at what Vivek, PDA et al were saying about Malone when he got fired or what was being said about IT etc...

Nonetheless...while we we may as fans not know, if Cuz does then I would consider that right there as a potential Petrie disqualifier.
Fact is even if we finally get rid of the little rat, PDA may have still permanently ****ed us by firing Boogie's friend and then hiring a prima donna like Karl who may have already clashed with Cousins, and will almost surely push buttons just because that's who he is. I don't know that Karl knows how to be the loyal in your corner 100% coach, and if he did I don't know he'd want to be it. And so even with PDA gone, the relationship with Cousins could be permanently damaged unless Vlade can get in there and Vlade it. I am totally uninterested in anything or anybody else who is going to put additional strain on that relationship, let alone somebody else who was already ready to give up on Cousins once before. Gotta tread softly now. Loyalty is big with Cuz, and we have shown little. We can't exasperate that or Pat Riley, who knows something about loyalty to his stars, is going to swoop in and turn Cuz's head. Petrie should be innocuous, safe. But he and Cuz have history, so its important what Cuz's perception of that history is.

I can't believe there are people here advocating for the return of Petrie. His tenure here was impressive no doubt besides the last couple of years but let's not forget...this is the same Petrie that is allergic to defensive players and shot blockers, we need to move on and start clean and with Vlade in charge now, this is the best thing that can happen IMO at this point in the Vivek era.
I'm indifferent about this. I mean it's pretty clear that Vlade is our GM and VP. All of the moves come down to him so it's not like if Pete leaves, we'll replace him with someone more amazing. I like Pete at his current job. He'll focus on scouting and analytics. He's basically our advisor which I see no problem with.
There's a lot of speculation about everything. We as fans don't know what goes on behind closed doors. We just speculate. No one is wrong, but no one is right either. It's just personal conclusions.

I did a search and only found her private one. But, to be honest, I didn't look that hard. I had enough of Ms. Moore shortly after she started lecturing Kings fans on how they should think and act.

Jeez, I don't know much about her, but lecturing fans on what to think is ridiculous. Especially a fanbase like ours who has been through all sorts of drama and issues, and been in the gutter for a decade.

Note that the damning quote was from Vivek himself, in a puff media/marketing piece designed (as they all are) to make him look new and different/visionary while painting everyone before him as stuck/groundbound in thinking/vision.
I don't believe one word that comes out of his mouth.
I think he lies in his sleep.
I especially wouldn't believe anything he says that supports the narrative he wants to portray : that other people couldn't envision what he does, and his bold ideas are vital to the success of the team.
He's already been revealed as a laughingstock to the world (for right or wrong), so he has zero credibility in this regard.
On the other hand, Petrie ****ed up royally when he didn't publicly criticize Westphal after Westphal reneged on his "in-house" mandate and honesty claims of "player should come to me if they have disagreements and we can talk it out like professionals."
IIRC, Demarcus basically took him up on that and Westphal threw his public hissyfit, escalating and making public what he himself said should be kept in-house.
So Petrie may well have not supported Demarcus and doubted him too much. Of course, DMC was easy to doubt (and still is!), so Petrie's not alone in this regard.
I can't imagine Petrie being so monumentally stupid as to not recognize Boogie's abilities now, though.
To the best of my knowledge, Leslie Moore was never a member of this board. IIRC it was just speculation...

The Post is reporting that its Mullin who is pushing for PDA. Now the Post isn't the Times, but they are obviously well tied into anything local.
All I can say is they are nothing compared to Merritt Paulson, who seems to have the worst qualities of both the Maloof and Vivek regimes on lock down.
