Patrick Ewing coming to the Kings?

What are those videos supposed to prove? That's like saying Nate Robinson is as big as Yao Ming because he dunked on him.

I think the videos are meant to serve as a graphic comparison between their sizes ... What in the world do they have to do with Nate Robinson?

Now Cousins is better than Howard? Absolute Hogwash.

The homerism on the site is reaching epic proportions. Cousins and Howard are NOT close in terms of production right now on either side of the floor. Rebounding is currently the only comparable skill-set they have.

THIS. It's hilarious to see this type of stuff on this board.

Cousins is all set up to be better than Howard offensively. In fact talentwise its not even a contest. If Cuz keeps up his 50% shooting from the second half of last year that baton may be passed as early as next season (the bigger claimant may actually already be Lopez). Dwight has just never developed a feel on that end. Even when he does score around 20 its often mechanical, something you have to stop your normal game to create. And then dunks. He's closer to a 15-18ppg talent than a 20+ one, and as he loses his athleticism I expect he'll end up as a 12-14ppg guy.

On the other hand Cousins will never be as good as Howard defensively. And that's not going to be a contest either.

But when Cousins pokes his head up over 20ppg, and if he's featured under the new regime that too could be as early as next year, its a discussion that's going to begin.

Howards offense is absolute crap. he relies solely on his athletic ability.

That might be, but that's not relevant as far as production. You score 20ppg on 60% shooting I don't care if you do it on a tricycle wearing a unitard.

It can be relevant as far as impact or potential however.

even if Cuz offense were actually much better than Howard's, what about the defense? that is a serious issue for Cuz, especially since defense from the frontcourt is arguably more important than offense and he's kinda terrible at it.

Im not contesting Cousins potential as an offensive big. Hell, he's got the skill-set to be an all-time great on that end. However, that currently is all based on the word " potential". Howard is currently far better on both ends and likely will be the next few years. I just find it absolutely nutty that people call his defense "overrated" or that he "sucks offensively". He's a top 5 defensive player and as you said, best rebounder in the NBA, and he's an 18-20 PPG on big time efficiency when he's healthy. People get lost in our guys way too much

No, No it is not. Howard is an all-time great in the PnR. He's not a "traditional C" in the sense of his back to the basket game. Howard however, has never fit the mold of a traditional C with only early Shaq ever coming close to his athleticism

Maybe I didn't read all the posts, but I don't remember anyone criticizing Howards defense. Most criticicism is in regard to his offense, which hasn't improved much in the last nine years. Thats just a fact. He has no game away from the basket. As far as offensive skill level goes, its not even close between Cousins and Howard. Cousins is far more skilled, and in my opinion, is still far from his ceiling. When you put up 30 and 20 in a game, thats not potential, its fact! At that point, the problem lies in consistency, not potential.

Defensively, I agree! Cousins will never be Howard, but then few are. But I believe Cousins can be a good defensive player with the right instruction. He's big enough and quick enough to guard centers in the league. There's no reason he can't make life a little tough for most of them. In my humble opinion, Cousins has two big flaws on defense. One is that when things start to go south, he forgets about defense, and hangs his head in disgust. The disgust might be understood, but quiting isn't. His other problem is that at times he tries to do too much, and doesn't get back into position when he has the chance. For instance he'll do a show defending the pick and roll, which is fine, but then he'll stay there going one on one with a PG, which is a lose/lose in most cases, and not get back to his man, who is generally cutting to the basket.

There are times when he stays with his hands up and holds position under the basket, and has had good success. Most of his defense can be improved with good decision makinig. Such as quit reaching in and getting little ticky tack fouls. It will be interesting to see how much Malone can change him.

Better overall team defense will help a lot as well. Knowing that when you double, show, or rotate on defense that you will get help from your teammates creates more decision actions by players. How many times did we see Cousins, JT, etc. hesitate to show on a PG because they knew no one would cover their man (who went straight to the basket)? By the end of the season, there was almost no trust on defense. This is part of the culture I expect Malone to change. It is so easy to get caught up what players do individually on defense, but missed assignments when playing team defense can cause far more problems IMO>

Well tell me how that video of him dunking on Gasol compares their size at all? It's like saying Cousins is as big as Gasol because he dunked on him. I guess I'm just crazy thinking Gasol and Bogut are not only bigger, but use their size to their advantage more than Cousins does.

Darius Songaila has more offensive tools than Dwight Howard.

He's better.

Whoa. Whatever happened to Darius Songaila? I always remember him being a solid big off the bench during the 03-04 season. He had a nice midrange shot.

Unfortunately that was largely it, and a non-rebounding non-defending big who's body starts breaking down (think it was the back) is eventually going to wash out. Bounced around for years though. Spent several in Washington I recall. Was still in the league until 2009-10 at least.

Seriously? K let me explain, because in the video you get to see them standing next to each other? You know, so you look at specimen a and specimen b and make a comparison?? I'm guessing the reason it's one of him dunking is because it's hard to find a "DeMarcus Cousins stands still next to Andrew Bogut" video, and a few seconds of video normally provides better perspective than a static photograph.

No argument on how they use their size.

This topic is just annoying now so I'm going to be done with it. Before you try making someone look stupid, you should really go back and read what they wrote before responding.

This is what OP wrote: "What kind of monsters do you think Gasol and Bogut are? Quality is bad but I don't see Marc here being bigger than Boogie. Same for Bogut" and followed by posting the videos.

You responded: "What are those videos supposed to prove? That's like saying Nate Robinson is as big as Yao Ming because he dunked on him."

And when I tried to answer your query by saying it serves as a graphic comparison, you again said "Well tell me how that video of him dunking on Gasol compares their size at all? It's like saying Cousins is as big as Gasol because he dunked on him"

The whole time you have been the only who has even brought up the supposed significance of Cousins dunking in those videos. How about YOU go and read what they wrote before making yourself look stupid.
