Orlando Robinson Waived

Makes sense. With Isaac emerging as essentially a Trey Lyles-in-waiting 4/5 hybrid, there really wasn’t a need for a 4th/5th big, especially if the Kings intend to make an offer for one of the backup bigs on the market (Jonas/Time Lord/Vuc/etc).

Yeah, probably no playing time for him and there was probably a deadline to guarantee his contract for the year.

Hopefully they use the extra roster spot to upgrade the roster.

I can't say I was really all that impressed with him... I thought he would be more of an offensive threat, but always seemed to be trying to do too much too quickly

Wasn’t too familiar with him at all before he got here but was under the impression(or assumption) that he was a bouncy guy to replace McGee and do the athleticism/size switch with Len and catch some lobs…

..so you could probably imagine my disappointment when I quickly noticed how slow and unathletic he was.

Certainly not what the Kings needed as the other backup center. Don’t know what Monte saw with that. It’s no wonder people question if he has some commitment to making this team as unathletic and off balance as possible.

No joke. Even bringing back Metu would’ve been a far more productive choice than signing Robinson.

Yes the deadline was today, so that means that both Crowder and McBuckets contracts become fully guaranteed despite both of them not being part of the rotation (same goes for McLaughlin, but his contract was fully guaranteed anyway).
Regarding Isaac Jones, I watched last night highlights from the easy win at Portland, and the announcers (the Portland ones, no Deuce there) mentioned at one point that IJ is OUT with knee soreness in both his knees. Hope he will be back in the Sacramento squad cause his energy fits the Doug Christie style.

At the game I went to he was working/listening hard during the pre-game shootaround time. I don't think he played. Jones is definitely the person that I would prefer we invest our time in but he seemed like he was interested in what the coaches were saying and putting in some effort, so I sincerely say I mean it when I give the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Having the slot open makes things easier in a trade. Plus if it’s still open past the deadline, they can just elevated Isaac and/or use the slot on ten-day tryouts.

A full contract for Isaac Jones is certainly merited. But I wonder under what circumstances the Kings might be taking back an extra player in a trade? It would not surprise me to see something go down by next Sunday.

It would be more than strange to pay more than a veteran minimum for a 3rd string center, yes.
