Opening night starting lineup worksheet

#1
Point guard candidates: FOX, MASON, FERRELL.

I pick FOX.

Shooting guard candidates: BGDANOVIC, HIELD, SHUMPERT

I pick BOGDANOVIC.

Small forward candidates: BJELICA, JACKSN, BOGDANOVIC

I pick JACKSON.

Power forward AND Center canddates: CAULEY-STEIN, RANDOLF, KOUFOS, GILES, BAGLEY, LABISSIERE, BJELICA

My tough picks CAULEY-STEIN, GILES.

I’m sure if I started over again now I would come up with a different set of starters. I look forward to others views.

The starting five NEEDS TO BE ... Fox... Buddy...Bogdan...skal... Willie... With an amazing bench of buddy, Bagley, shump, koufos and Pooh. Until Bagley proves otherwise

You have chosen wisely.

I'm sticking with:

Fox
Bogdan
Nemanja
Giles
WCS

Buddy as super sixth man. When facing a little team start Buddy at SG with Bogdan at the 3 Nemanja as the first Big off the bench.

When Marvin hits his stride how are you going to keep him out of the starting lineup???

you got an extra Buddy in your pocket? ;)

I agree with OP's starters: Fox, Bogi, Jackson, WCS, Harry. I just don't think Giles is to be denied, and Jackson flashed at the end of SL.

I think JJ will switch spots with Hield. Also with Yogi coming off the bench i believe Yogi and JJ will be experimented with in leading the bench scoring init. Bagleybi expect to noy be given a large role to begin season. He will have mostley clean up duty and finisher on offensive end while he focuses on defense. Might play one half and Giles or Skal plays other until 1 outshines the other. If Jackson struggles id expect to see him at end of bench or in Gleague with Shump and Bjelica getting mins.

Fox
Hield
Bogs
Gilea
WCS

Bench
Yogi
JJ
Bjlecia
Bagley/skal
KK/skal

Skal i see as the big wildcard. His added bulk could push KK out of the backup C role. I love KK though and hope the kings can find a solid trade with him like they landed for temple rather than see him aitting on the bench UNLESS the young bigs really do outplay him.

After Training camp/preseason I hope Bagley will shine and start day 1
I feel Bjelly was brought in to play the 3 with JJ and will start
I want Bogs to start to play with Bjelly, want Buddy as super 6th

So Fox,Bogs,Bjelly,Bagley,WCS
Yogi,Buddy,JJ,Skal,Giles

I don't even care if he can start, all I want to see is some semblance of being able to use his right hand. If he is still unable to do so he's gonna be dead in the water.

To digress from “opening lineup/starters” — does anyone know when the Kings report for opening team preseason practice? All I can find is that the first preseason game is on Monday, Oct. 1.

I believe it's September 25th...give or take a day. Grant said it was two weeks out on the radio but I can't remember if that was yesterday or Monday.

It totally amazes me that anyone thinks that Skal and Willie are taking the Kings anywhere. They will never win 30 games with those two underachievers in the line-up. Buddy needs more minutes. Jackson had a great SL and is moving up the chain.

where does the confidence in Bejeclica come from?

I am changing my starting unit!

Fox - A lock
Buddy/Bogi - IMO take your pick, then the other is a high minute sixth man!
WENYEN GABRIEL - This young man is a defensive beast!
Bagley - should be a lock
Giles - should be a lock
Going with Gabriel is an interesting look. Is he more a PF? Talented kid. I still got Iman til Bogey comes back but certainly Gabriel could do better than what is currently going on with Jackson/McLemore

Gabriel looks a little more suited to the wing than say giles or bsgley. What matters is he can defend SFs and hit the 3 on offense. Impact to the game far more than JJ.

Also, JJ seems mentally better suited to a bench role ala buddy last year. Might relax him

Wenyen is very, very active. You see him getting into his man and getting into the scrum to try and get every rebound and loose ball. Justin Jackson seems to be invisible out there for large chunks of times.

Starting Wenyen would be an interesting take. If so, they will need to eventually waive or trade a player to get the guaranteed contracts down to 15.

If Joeger is looking for someone that will help set the "fight for every ball" mentality for this team, starting Wenyen and Giles would do just that.

From kings this year I want to see them "get after it"

By this I mean hustle, scrap fight for every loose ball, bang for every rebound. I want FOULS!! Every attempt near the rim should have a hard close out that either results in block, hard foul, or extra pass for score. BUT ALWAYS ALWAYS challenge. On perimeter, stick like glue to your man and deny the pass. NO more wide open 3 pointers. Make them take it to the rim where they will might score BUT they might also get clobbered. We have the deepest depth of big guys in the leage so lets use those fouls. WCS, if your not challenging every shot and averaging 5 fouls a game then I'm putting him on the bench and giving his minutes to Koufos.

Hang big portraits of Rodman, Reggie evans, Ben Wallace, Sampson
I think you get my point.

Here is what i would like to see with the rotation

Fox
Buddy
Wendle
Giles
WCS (short string)

I want energy energy energy and scrap scrap scrap. On offense, cutters and off ball movement should be at a DAMN RUN. Tired of seeing backdoor jogs. Hard to beat anyone when you only get up to half speed (Jackson). Screeens Screens and more Screens with cuts and penetration. Fox and Buddy should always be attacking and Gilese will help lob it up to WCS or hit the open cutter or shooter. I really like what I have seen from Wendle and I think at least he can mix it up defensively and from college and what ive seen in preseason I think he can shoot just fine to not be "sampson" on the offensive side of the ball. JJ I've lost all confidence in. He is soft as melted ice cream, doesn't cut hard, hasns't reworked that flat 3pt shot of his etc. unless something unexpected happens, i think he is destined for end of bench or drawing straws with BMAC to see who gets cut to make room for Wendle.

My idea of subs would be to make them so we can maintain a frenetic pace on both sides of the floor. Sub early and often so a high intensity can be maintained as much as possible. NO LETTING UP. RUN OTHER TEAM INTO THE GROUND

YOGi
BOGS

BAGLEY
KK

Bogs would be first off the bench for Wendle so Wendle can then return to spell Buddy. Yogi would relieve Fox.

For the bigs, I'm going to give WCS about 10 games to show that he can bring intensity every night. If he floats and doesn't bang for boards or i catch him watching guys get layups or dunks while he stands there watching then I'm sending him to the bench for KK who I know will bring the fight every night. I believe of our big men that KK is still best impact player of the group. I think Bagley and KK will give teams headaches with their rebounding and with the way those 2 can play with the PnR on offense and off ball screens with Bogs and Yogi I see no problems with our offense bogging down.

Bjelca will be there to play stretch 4 or backup 3 deepending on matchups and whats going on in game. If WCS does look good, Bjelca may get a lot of KK mins
