Omri Casspi / Donte Greene Scouting Reports

Hi all!

First of all, Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from Canada!

I was wondering if I could get a more in depth analysis of the 2? And if they compare to anyone?
I haven't been able to watch any games this year other than the San Antonio game (with the bat) that we got blown out of, so I really don't know their tendencies/strengths, etc... other than the bits and pieces that I read from this forum.

Jump Shot?
3 Pt Shot?
Defense?
Ball Handling?
Athletism?
Speed?
Strength?

Projection?

Are either of them better than Cisco already?

ya, i saw those, but it also sounds like both players have matured a lot during the past 2 months, especially on the defensive end?
Is Donte Greene still super raw?
Are they starter quality on a playoff team in a year or 2?

Donte is still raw offensively, but maturing. He still rushes his 3 point shots at times, but you can tell when he squares up he usually makes it. The most impressive thing about Dontes offense lately has been his sudden realization that he can use his speed, strength, athleticism, and handles to get to the rim on just about anyone. He's displayed better passing then we all thought he had, but most importantly is he has fun doing all this. When he succeeds on the court it's spreads to the whole team and they all start playing better but on the flip side when that happens they are prone to make mistakes because of their youth. Donte needs to get some better body control when driving the lane and start to stop and pop 15-18 footers at times. Sky is really the limit for this kid - depends on how much he wants it.

Donte's defense has been most impressive and I can only assume he'll continue. You can tell he has been working diligently to become a good defender. We can only count the number of times this season an opposing teams fast, athletic, explosive wing was going off on our other players only for Donte to finally get the nod to guard him and we generally don't hear much from that player again while Donte is on the floor (Durant, Deng, Granger, whole Knicks team) to name a few.

Yeah, Donte's is in desperate need of updating -- he's like a new player.

Like Brick describes Spencer, I think Donte is really two players. Good Donte is an athletic slasher, who has a lot more moves than I expected, and a great shooter. Bad Donte is a chucker who falls in love with the three point shot and refuses to use his physical gifts. Sometimes, we get a whole game of Good Donte, sometimes we get a whole game of Bad Donte, but usually we see a little of both. He's still raw and inexperienced, so it's reasonable to assume that as he matures, we see less and less of Bad Donte.
