Trade idea o' the day (as always, works on RealGM):

A three team whopper.

Kings send Mike Bibby and Bonzi Wells, 2 first round picks to Minnesota
Kings send Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Garcia to Denver
Nuggets send Earl Watson to Sacramento
Nuggets send Nene to Minnesota
Minnesota sends Kevin Garnett to Sacramento

Kings get: Kevin Garnett, Earl Watson
Nuggets get: Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Francisco Garcia
Minnesota gets: Mike Bibby, Bonzi Wells (expiring), Nene, 2 first round picks

New Kings:
PG: Watson, Hart, Price
SG: Martin, draftee
SF: Artest, Corliss
PF: Garnett, KT
C: Miller, Skinner

Why the Kings make the deal:
The Kings trade Bibby, Bonzi, Garcia and Shareef for a Hall of Fame centerpiece player and the best defensive point guard in the NBA.

Why the Kings wouldn't make the deal:
They'd be stupid.

New Nuggets:
PG: Miller, Earl
SG: Garcia, Buckner
SF: Carmelo, Najera
PF: Martin, SAR
C: Camby, Elson

Why the Nuggets make the deal:
They get quality size on the interior for a budget price, along with a young gunner. Their two biggest holes are frontcourt depth and a quality shooting guard. Done and done. They only give up two players they don't play.

Why the Nuggets wouldn't make the deal:
The Nuggets would be facilitating the exchange of two inter-conference superstars. They may feel that they could get more for Nene and Watson than SAR and Garcia.

New Wolves:
PG: Bibby, Hudson, Banks, Jaric, Carter, your mom
SG: Davis, McCants
SF: Hassel, Reed
PF: Nene, Madsen
C: Blount, Griffin

Why the Wolves make the deal:
The only way Garnett would be traded is if he demanded one. If they decide to trade Garnett they get one of the best point guards in the league to build around, an expiring deal in Bonzi, and Nene, who they could either re-sign, use in a sign and trade, or let walk. They have some cap room and draft picks to start the rebuilding process.

Why the Wolves wouldn't make the deal:
Let's face it, they would have to be extremely stupid to make this deal. They could probably get more for Garnett (Jermaine O'Neal, Rasheed Wallace come to mind immediately). So it's not happening. But if you squint just right it almost seems plausible.

Or not.

I don't like it. I think Bonzi is an important piece for us. We give up 4 players in and get 2 in return. Our shooting guard would be a 2nd year guy that needs to put on more weight, and francisco backing the 2 and 3 for the rest of the season. Then next year we'd have a rookie backing Martin, a youngster in the league himself.
 
I'd ultimately do that, but we'd definitely need to get a 2-guard or swingman and a bit of energy/scoring/shooting off the bench through free-agency (in or off-season) or another move.

Garcia wouldn't start at SG in Denver, Buckner or DeMarr Johnson would.

Maybe the Kings will continue sucking and they can get Rodney Carney.

And you're probably right about Garcia.
 
I wouldn't trade Bibby, for the simple reason Kevin Garnett is the kind of big presence that brings out the absolute best in Mike. I would, however, do a deal that involved a combination of players including Bonzi.
 
Miller, Artest, Rahim for Garnett in the off-season. Just keep Bibby and re-sign Bonzi. Do it Geoff.

Garnett won't be traded unless McHale is fired. Why isn't he fired already, is it just the name and the legacy? He's made some huge blunders, notably the Smith incident, that's three years of valuable assets they lost out on. I think the reason Garnett hasn’t made any noise as far as being moved, is because he has some obligation or loyalty to McHale. If McHale is gone, I can see Garnett asking to be moved.
 
Man, we are not getting KG, it so funny to look at so many basketball forums and to see all the kg trade ideas. When there is about only 5 to 6 teams that could get him, if he gets traded at all.

There are a myriad of reasons that wouldn't work but the main one is that if Artest works out here you don't move him. You build your future around him and hope for the best. If he doesn't work out here, there is very little reason to think any other GM in the league would give him still ANOTHER shot.

In addition, there is NO WAY Ron Artest would agree to go to Minnesota, especially a Minnesota without Kevin Garnett. None, zero, zip, nada, zilch.

I was not really suprised about artest coming here. But if u are talking about getting KG via f/a that is a diferent story (which only makes the team that could be able to get him simmer do to his asking price. but if he wants to win he would have to take a major, major, major pay cut, which i don't think kg would be willing to do.) But all these crazy trades, almost for your whole starting lineup, when only like 5 to 6 teams have the personaly to make it happen, its just wrong. Trades trying to get pierce, wilcox, etc might have a chance of happeing because those players are avablie. But talking about trades trying to get bosh, t-mac, kg and so on, to me is just crazy, on offence to anybody.

CORRECTION: Kevin Garnett is looking to be the most desired trade candidate available in all sports.

It's almost positlvely completely not happening. However. There are rumors out of Minnesota that KG is unhappy and he and McHale had words recently. If KG is actually up for auction the Wolves are going to want a combo of proven young star, young cheap talent, expiring salaries and draft picks so they can start rebuilding. This trade, however unlikely it may be, fits that bill. Once someone like KG demands a trade you never know what's going to happen.

Sure, absolutely, there's less than a 1% chance of this happening, but if the Kings and Wolves DO make a trade for KG, I think this is a pretty reasonable prediction of what that deal might look like.

The Philly trio for an expiring contract. Chicago does it because they need to get something new going, maybe they think our guys can contribute, especially considering how much theyve struggled. We get an expiring contract and a guy who might contribute for half a season. More to the point, the Bulls get to give back a guy they never wanted and the Kings trade our "flexibility pieces" to be able to re-sign Bonzi and look for bench help in FA. That's almost 19 mil of the books for next year, pay Bonzi 9 mil and we're just about at the cap or a little bit under, with a very good starting 5, a decent bench (Martin/Garcia/Hart/rook) and the potential to add an impact 6th man in FA.

Incoming

Tim Thomas
6-10 SF from Villanova
4.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 10.3 minutes

Change in team outlook: -11.2 ppg, -9.6 rpg, and -2.0 apg.

Unfortunately even if you take $19 million off of the books it doesn't get the Kings very far below the cap, and that's before re-signing Bonzi.

The Kings have $57 million in contracts going into next year. Bonzi at $9 million is $66 million. Take away $19 million and it leaves you at $47 million -- just barely under the $49 million salary cap. It wouldn't give the Kings any more flexibility to sign a free agent than they have now.

Better to wait until next season when Corliss' and Skinner's deals are expiring and try and see what you can do with them.

Okay, we're not under the cap. Alternative is keep Thomas/Corliss/Skinner, be about 3 mil over the cap and let Bonzi walk. This deal is essentially dump those 3 dudes, keep Bonzi and get about 1 mil below the cap (more if Hart opts out). This trade really isn't about improving so much as keeping the good things we have going and allowing some flexibility.
 
Was anyone talking about Bosh before we played the Raptors two days ago? I wasn't here for awhile so I don't know, but what I've caught up on says the answer is no. I wouldn't go out and trade for him just on one game, the Kings have been known to make chicken feed look appetizing sometimes.

To answer the question, yes. Most deals concocted dealt with sending Peja to Toronto for Bosh. He's been on a lot of people’s radar since the middle of last year, if not before.

Problem being that he is likely completely untouchable. Even Toronto is not that stupid. Only way anybody is getting him is if he demands to be traded.
 
Camby for Miller

Is it something Kings fan would want to do? the trade works via Real GM's trade checker
I think Camby would fit in well with a lineup of
Camby/Skinner/Sampson
Abdur Rahim/Thomas/Williamson
Artest/Garcia
Wells/Martin
Bibby/Price/Hart
Youth,speed,power,defense/offense

We could play with the lineups as well, Sometimes Camby and Skinner and Artest and Wells with Bibby
Other times move Bibby to the 2 and bring in Garcia at the point, Give Price more opportunities, Bring in Hart for defensive stops
 
Yes I agree, if we want to be a "contender" or have any kind of future as a team we have to trade Brad. I mean besides his 14 ppg and 5 assists he's probably one of the worst centers when it comes to gaurding a man and rebounding. Every game I watch him its the same. He never puts effort into guarding a player. Weak on rotations and not even a factor inside the paint. It's either him or Shareef but I would keep Shareef IMO because he has more to his game than just shooting the ball even though he is not the best PF the Kings are used to having. But If we can get a center who will do all the little things that have a huge impact towards the game I think a combo of Shareef and Tyson Chandler or Marcus Camby can be dangerous for anyteam to play against us.
