Official Harry Potter Half-Blood Prince Thread

ok, so how many of us have finished it? I believe there is at least 3 or 4 of us, right?

I know I have and would like to discuss it.

Wait for me guys!! you guys finsih it too fast!! I am only on chapter 7! I am looking to read more today but I am like 20% done with it.

all done. i was up till 1 in the morning... again. and i read all the way until i had to go to school, got right to the best, read the rest when i got home, finised it 5 minutes ago.

book 7 can't come out soon enough. get moving JK, i can't wait another 2 years! ;)

Okay, I need advice. I haven't read any of the books yet, but I've seen all the movies. Should I just pick up the books for the ones that haven't made it to the screen yet, or should I start back at the beginning? Would the books hold my interest?

I generally much prefer to read books before I see the films.

VF

like you, I had seen all the movies but hadnt read all the books. I also really prefer to read the books and then see the movies but, I found a synopsis site online that pretty much covered the important things that happened in the books that haven't yet been made into movies. I read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it. The book held my interest and her writing style is really easy to read so I believe it will probably also hold yours. If you have the time I think you would probably want to start at the first book.

I just don't have the time right now and the books were packed. ;)

I have read close to 500 pages. I hope to have time to finish this weekend. I have a Monarchs game right after work tomorrow, so...

VF21, I have all of the books and have seen all the movies. The movies were cute and gave me faces for all the characters. But, the books are incredibly well written. They capture my attention and keep it from beginning to end. If you do not want to spend the money for all of the books, let me know. I could be persuaded to loan you the entire set. If you want to then purchase your own copies later, you can do that. I am thinking we need to take a field trip (for the homeschool) up your way real soon anyway.

VF21, i also recommend you read all the books. they really paint the picture, and i was really disappointed the way the adapted book 3. don't get me wrong, the movies are way fun, i own them all ( and the soundtracks) but nothing beats the magic of the books.

you must read goblet of fire before it comes out in theatres in november ( mon dieu.... i can't WAIT for that one :D although my friend and i are scared to death about whats going to be cut out)

VF21, as the last couple of people have said, you should read the all the books. You will really get into them and finish it in a week adn maybre 2 maximum because you just want to see what is going to happen page by page. The books is how it all got started so I think you should read teh books. Read 1,2,3,4 before the 4th movie comes out so you can understand what is going to happen and see how their faces look like. Then, if you can take a break from them and try to read the rest. That is what I will do if I was in yur situation.

My younger sister read all the books...and though they are enjoyable, if you've seen the first and second movie you didn't really miss out on much because they followed the book quite accurately...She did however suggest I read Prisoner of Azkaban because for the third movie they changed directors and he cut out quite a bit of the story so there is a lot that is in the book that you didn't get to learn...So I just read from the third book onwards...But I think if you do choose to read them all you will enjoy them all even though you have seen the movies also.

VF read all the books. The movies are great, but the nuances of the books really create a magical world. It is truely a wonderfully delighful set of stories.
