Official draft order for 2008

well if u got a bullheaded coach who is looking to eclipse last yrs win total rather than position the team for the future.. you know who to blame. not enough moves were done to position the team for the lottery and we were lottery bound!

Well that sucked but atleast we only play vs Beasley and Rose a combined 4 times per year and won't play them in the WC playoffs.

Westbrook should be there; whether we should get him at the 12th spot is another question altogether, though. I love his potential and of course the defense/athleticism combination for a point guard, and he's got budding skills as well, but he's more clay than he is player, so to speak; while we have drafted skilled offensive players in the past few drafts (Douby, Hawes, Garcia, K-Mart) I guess a change in drafting style could work. We do need point guard/perimeter defense, and Westbrook provides that. But question is...he is a run-and-gun type player offensively; he can either ignite our offense, or just wallow if we get too bogged down in one-on-one play. A lot of question marks, a high risk high reward type player almost for our team, and if we get him, and I've said this before, Douby probably will be gone because both have similar frames.

Chicago with the 1st pick? What a strange tinge in irony too...made it to the playoffs and thrived only recently, and then the Kobe trade talks arguably put them in a downward spiral this year, and now, they get rewarded for all that. With Joakim Noah and Ty Thomas recently drafted, and with Luol Deng's solid inside game already, I'd think they'd go for Rose instead of Beasley. If so, perhaps Hinrich might be traded, but really look for a guy like Ben Gordon to be on the block.

bulls get the number 1 pick.... wonder if they would trade ty thomas or hinrich? if they pick rose they dont need to have hinrich, gordon and hughes. if they pick beasley they dont need to have thomas, noah and gooden....

Chicago takes D-Rose for sure. He's born and raised in Chicago-land. Bulls fans would riot if they took Beasley instead of him. Plus, I don't think they would like to face a Miami guard line of D-Wade and D-Rose for the next decade in their same conf. Hey, my #1,000 post!

i think they go w/ rose too. man that team is going to be fun to watch w/ rose throwing lobs to TT. they'll trade hinrich and get a good player back. watch out! :)

That's the spirit -- don't look at it as a disappointment, but rather as an opportunity. :D Ty Thomas could definitely be in play if they go for Beasley (gicving us a pair of young lottery busts at PF, but he's got the more upside).

I willl say that I would think that unless contract issues or just the generally crappy year sour things, if they take Rose, they just go for the talented three guard rotation off of Rose/Hinrich w/ Gordon off the bench, but who knows.

No matter who moves up, the lottery is always rigged. Would you be saying that if we had got the top pick?

It musr be hard for the NBA to choose from all the teams that it has to cheat for. The Bulls get lucky = must have been fixed, because hey, big market and everything = not allowed to get lucky. New York gets lucks, well that's obvious -- jus thte Ewing draft all over again. New Jersey ghets lucky = obviously poaving the way for their move to Brooklyn, and the New York market again. We win its obviously because Stern is trying to help us get that new arena. Seattle wins its the same thing with their arena. Portland wins he's creating a new dynasty. I mean, man, by the time you get done listing all of the teams who could not possibly win the lottery without a conspiracy, it pretty much takes a conspiracy to make sure that none of them DO win it.

What's the over under on how long before:

- Pat Riley un-retires again
- Marion starts sulking again and asks to be traded?

With either Rose or Beasly the Heat are set.

Or maybe you blame management for not assuring him that losses would not affect his job security. He was coaching for his job. You can look at quotes from GP, etc, that praised him for improving from last year's win total.

He was being an egomaniacal twit.

But that aside, even if he was a team player management still hadn't done enough to make it matter in a Top 3 sort of way. Plenty of blame ot go around. Found it interesting though that in that big Q&A with Geoof that he both a) for the first time I can recall souonded wistful about wishing he could be in positon to draft high; and b) made it pretty clear that there was not 100% satisfaction with Reggie's approach, and thinking that he had a lot to learn. I think its next year where Reggie will truly be coaching for his job. Of course that also means a likely repeat of the performance down the stretch again, unless he is fired midseason of course.

I’m sure they reassured him when the Maloofs told Reggie to start playing the kids more. The guy had 60 different line-up situations this year because of injuries and trades. I’m sure he could have relaxed after how everybody was praising him about how well he kept the team afloat.

And about Geoff praising Reggie for improving upon last year, not to be disrespectful but what’s he supposed to say? “Well I wish Reggie lost more games so we could have gotten a better draft position.” Geoff is a really carefully spoken guy, he’s not going to come out and insult or be disrespectful towards anybody, especially in the media. He’s always trying to be political.

Last year I was hoping that we’d get Durant but it didn’t break my heart that we didn’t get the pick, this year, from what I’ve heard about Rose, I wanted the ball to bounce our way (even if we do sign Beno). We desperately need a change, we need a point guard who can pass and shoot. Someone to run the floor and yet, we wasted so much of the end of the season giving more and more minutes to guys who already knew their game and couldn’t build upon it anymore. I didn’t mind winning with the younger guys and still getting number 12, but it really bothers me that a lot of the games that could have helped some of the guys gain more experience (that includes making mistakes) be pushed aside for the vets that could have had their minutes reduced.

Anyway, good luck to the Bulls. They’re a good young team that just needs the right coach. Hopefully the could use John Salmons and give us Ben Gordon.

How many more times must the NBA rig the lottery. Anyone know who was the Bulls rep?
Doesnt matter who their rep was, as long as Krumbs Krauss is in charge they'll always be able to rebound...c'mon, it's Chicago, the countries 3rd largest city...that surprises you that they always seem to have good luck even during hard times??

Great post - very well put.
