Official: Blazers trade for Marcus Camby

just saw this run across the bottom line on espnews.

Portland traded Travis Outlaw & Steve Blake to the Clippers for Marcus Camby.

Wow.

Pritchard continues to be aggressive. Even with all the injuries they are determined to matter. Guess they are committed to Miller now at the PG.

The Oregonian's website has a different trade imminent...

ESPN.com is reporting the Blazers are part of a three team deal, with the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls rounding out the teams involved.

The website, citing an unnamed source, said the Blazers would receive Chicago forward Tyrus Thomas and Lakers backup Sasha Vujacic. The Lakers would get Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich and the Bulls would get Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and Juwan Howard from the Blazers and Adam Morrison from the Lakers.

eta: the Clips/Camby deal is further on down the page so I guess this is a later story (9:50pm).

eta2: Now they've switched the Camby story to the top, with a "may be" qualifier. About the only thing this confirms is that the Oregonian is a piece of junk paper in online or paper format.

Yahoo seems to think the Camby deal is happening. With details that are either corroborating or prize-winning fiction.

I don't like this trade from the Blazers stand point... You just traded a young decent SF in Travis Outlaw and a energy boost in Steve Blake for a Marcus Campy who only has a few years left at the most. This trade might make them better, but not in the long run and not enough to make an real noise in the playoffs.

well, they did have 40 SFs, and Outalw has long taken heat up there for whatever reason, so Blake is the more interesting move, and damn if he isn't just a roleplayer.

The flipside is that Camby is really just an emergency replaement for Oden and Pryzbilla. Hence for his season. And were they really going to win a title THIS season without those guys? Could they/would they try to resign him to form the shotblocking quartet of doom with Oden, Pryz, Aldridge AND Camby next year? Possible I suppose -- they've built that team wiht defense and more defense, but incredibly expensive (lucky there that Paul Allen owns the team).

Local tv reporting the Camby deal now. Also talked about Camby not being happy with the move.

They said its not about the Blazers, he just liked living in LA and wanted to resign with them.

In that case ok. I would personally like to play for a competitive team and Clippers are everything but that.
