Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been killed, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.

McNair, police said, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head in downtown Nashville, News Channel 5 in Nashville reported.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL, 11 were with the Tennessee Titans. He played his final two years with the Baltimore Ravens, retiring after the 2007 season.

McNair was picked third overall in the 1995 draft out of Alcorn State by the then Houston Oilers.

Police: Steve McNair suffered several gunshots, and the woman who was with him, Sahel Kazemi, 20, died of one gunshot to the head.18 minutes ago from BNO Headquarters

Its odd how you can get attatched to some players as a sports fan. I have no geographical reason to be a fan of McNair's, but he has always been a favorite of mine. He had such a love for the game and such a big heart, always playing injured .. that really is his legacy, he was always hurt and hardly ever missed a game .. I just loved watching him play, you'll be missed 'Air'.
