DENVER (TICKER) —Denver Nuggets star forward Carmelo Anthony was arrested Monday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Denver police stated that Anthony was driving south on Interstate 25 roughly around 4 a.m. when he was pulled over and taken into custody. Investigators said he was driving a silver Mercedes that was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane and failing to dim lights................

I can never understand why multi-millionaire pro athletes just don't take a limo or have a hired driver when out partying at 4 AM. I suppose Anthony will get out of this one without much consequence like he did two other similar "incidents" with the law in Denver and St. Louis.

What an idiot.

Sorry, but there is no reason to DUI, whoever you are.

Agreed. I had one in 2001 (one year removed from college I was still in my college party mode) and it was the stupidest thing I have done in my life to date. On the contrary, unlike many others, I decided one mistake is enough and I haven't had a single sip of alcohol since 2001.

A DUI.

At 4am.

With 2 games left in the season and your playoff fate still up in the air.

What's the word I am looking for? Ah...yes, "moron".

Good for you. Obviously the penalty you suffered was enough for you to realize your mistake and correct it. I wonder if these "chosen few" like Anthony or Musselman even care much - with all the millions of dollars they wake up to every day. Pathetic Muss remains on the Kings payroll to the tune of several million more dollars still owed.

Not to condone what he did but Denver only has one game left and it's at home against Memphis on Wednesday.

I'm with everyone else.....you just signed an 80 million $$ extension. Why don't you just hire a driver full time or get a limo???

Never. Wouldn't risk my life or anyone elses. It's not "life", it's a stupid decision. It isn't funny and it isn't "cool".

I love how ton of people are appaulled when someone gets busted for a DUI, and many people state they have never and would NEVER do ANYTHING like that.

That's right, because even when you were 16, 17 you were completely responsible, and never did anything dumb in your teens and early twenties.

That's not aimed specifically at you Warhawk, but it just happens in the media all the time.

Did I do dumb things? Sure. I accidentally burned a stack of wood pallets my dad was saving. The firemen that responded got sprayed by a skunk that was hiding in the pile at the time. Um, I wrecked my car when some punks threw something at my car windshield on Halloween night and I panicked and swerved instead of running into it. Oh, I also started dating my friend's ex-GF without verifying with him first that it was OK. Probably a few others in there, too. But I was smart enough to not drink and drive. In fact, I was often the designated driver for our group of friends. We knew enough to be prepared when we went out. Not to plan ahead is just plain stupid.

Not once. Not ever. And I have lost friends to that same asinine, selfish, and dangerous decision. So let's not go there shall we?

Your post does not surprise me.

no never have and never will. Drinking and driving is not a Part of life as you described it, it is a crime- and by engaging in it your are endangering your life and those around you. I can not believe you said that.

so everyone here is perfect. no one here has ever gone to a bar, had a beer then drove home. party, superbowl, arco arena, staples, WHEREVER. beer/liquor is served everywhere. i find it hard to believe that most of yall have never gotten behind the wheel after a drink. severely intoxicated or not.

it is apart of life. if someone is dumb enough to drive while intoxicated then thats on them. i just dont think it should be magnified.

Then apparently you hang around the wrong crowd. No one here is claiming to be perfect. Far from it. What many of us can claim is that we have never risked people's lives by driving under the influence.

I did not drink at all as teenager. I drink very little as an adult. The few occasions when I have had too much, I definitely was not driving. When I do choose to drink if I'm driving, it's one drink, period, then I go non-alcoholic. I also make sure I don't get behind the wheel unitl enough time has passed since that one drink for my body to have processed it.

Because I am so careful, I'll tell you what irritates me. People who just assume I want to be their designated driver so they can get plastered.

Anthony is just plain stupid and irresponsible. He's plenty old enough and smart enough to know better. I'm sure he can afford a cab or has plenty of friends he could have called to pick him up and drive him home. What a complete juvenile moron. No excuse.

And if they kill a family? That's on them, too, but that will hardly comfort their loved ones. There just is no excuse. None.

so everyone here is perfect.

I call strawman.

The issue is that a very publiclized, young, highly paid, borderline superstar NBA player did one of the most asinine acts possible. He could of injured or killed someone. A LOT of people here know someone or knows someone that knows someone who have been negatively affected by drinking and driving. Your arguments will not receive any sympathy among the rational, nor should they.

Also, to quote my mother, my grandmother, my grandfather, my aunts, uncles, etc, etc, etc, "Just because someone else did it, it doesn't make it ok."

i didnt say it was a smart decision to drink and drive. but everyone has done it. regardless if its just 1 beer or 1 margarita or 1 shot. because he's a basketball player shouldnt make the situation any worse. and it should be no one's business but his and the cops.

Bull-****! You've had no fewer than five people telling you that they've NEVER done it. And now you've got six. You calling us all liars? Do you really want to go there?

liars? who said that????? i didnt say that. and im not accusing those "6" people of doing it. im sayin that alot of people on here under or over the age of 21 has done it. im sure of that.

Like I said earlier, I've done it and it is the stupidest thing I have done in my life. In my case I had made a right choice not to drive, but in my drunken stupor (I blew .24), while waiting for my friend to unlock the door of his house (where I was to spend a night) I went to my car (I'd assume to get something but who knows) and drove 50 feet and hit a parked car.

You have no idea how many times I counted my lucky stars. It could have been a person I hit instead of the car. The experience was reason enough for me to never trust myself with alcohol again and hence I have not had a drink in over 7 years now.

I think anyone (including me) who gets behind the wheel in any illegal capacity is not the brightest and very selfish. Even worse is that I had to go to groups (not AA) as a part of my court supervision and I was one of the few who had only one DUI.
