I know!!!

The Great Republic of Rough and Ready!

We're planning to go to the Secession Day event on Sunday, June 28. It's always a real hoot.
If you are interested, you should look into getting the two letterboxes that exist in Rough and Ready... we got them; they are a neat set. Check my signature for more info or www.letterboxing.org

I'll give others a chance to answer...I just happen to be online this afternoon with nothing to do!

Must resist answering question about my home county...

Question #19:

This city has at least three famous "tough guy" current of past residents.

One tough guy only stayed as long as he had to, but ended up a desperate housewife?
One tough guy got famous as a coach in a remote part of Brazil?
One tough guy turned his life around at a Ranch in this town; he was so grateful, he changed his last name to match the name of the ranch?

Where is this tough guy town?

Susanville...honestly, I only got it from your second clue. Wasn't aware of the others.

Question #20

This city claims to be the smallest incorporated city in California (I belive them); it was established in 1850 and no one is really sure what the name of this city means or what language the name came from. Additionally, this was one of the earliest settlements north of Sacramento and, when originally founded, First through Fifth streets were laid out, but First street eventually eroded into the river. What is the name of this sleepy little town?

Just a note. I was out and about in the vicinity and saw a huge cloud of smoke and only found out on the news it was Granzella's burning. :( I also happened to stop in recently to see the new digs and it is really nice and great to see them back. I had fresh peach gelato. Yum! :D

Trinidad?

I did find many references to the smallest city being Amador City, though.
Nope. And the "smallest city" thing is kind of a wild goose chase as about 10 cities in Calfornia claim to be the smallest incorporated city in some way or another (population, geographic size, etc)

Yep...got it. Tehama!

Trinidad doesn't have numbered streets, but Tehama does.

Question #21

This sleepy place was first named as an Indian village, then named for Presley Dorris, then the named changed to the current name. What is the name of this sleepy town?

I was trying to answer these questions based solely on my own knowledge. I guess if we're going to keep score I should have been using "google"...

Good luck with google... it is a path to an answer, but I try to write some of these to be almost google proof.

I won't use "google" for them but when you include things like "Presley Dorris" in the clue it's not google--proof.

I was more voicing frustration at how quickly D-Mass was answering more than anything else. Carry on... I'll quit whining now.

:)
