I think that Drew Bennett would be a better fit, anyways. Not sure if Stallworth wants to leave Philly, just yet. Any takers on Joey Porter??
No, thank you. Overpaid, overhyped, underwhelming (a chronic affliction of Raider draft picks).Any takers on Joey Porter??
I like the webzone and I post there but it gets slowed down quite a bit when traffic gets heavy.Yeah just saw that, it's the highest in history? well w/e it takes I guess >.<

You know, I just realized what a dumb thing I said in an earlier post...Hopefully we can get Porter though and/or Stallworth.
I thought he meant Jerry Porter of the Raiders, not Joey Porter of the Steelers. Me likey Joey Porter. No, thank you. Overpaid, overhyped, underwhelming (a chronic affliction of Raider draft picks).
I'll still take a pass on Porter, especially with the play we got out of Brandon Moore last season...I dont see the need. I do like the fact that we're hopefully getting Aubrayo Franklin. We're going to have probably the most improved defense in the league next season.I don't really care for Stallworth, too inconsistent to me :/
Probally just as good as AB.
Porter may be loud but that doesn't make him a bad pickup, he's been great for the Steelers, he just talks a lot, I like it...he's no cancer from what I can tell anyway.
Yeah well we are doing the 3-4 so we need 4 starters at LB so Lawson, Porter, Smith and Moore.
Porter adds another impact defensive player and improves our pass rush, he had 7 sacks this past year and 10 the year before.
If we don't get pressure on the quarterbacks our secondary will still be bad, you let the qb stand there all day he will eventually find someone.
About Franklin I thought he was signing, where did you hear he wasn't? link?
Defensive tackle Franklin officially signs with 49ers
Aubrayo Franklin will fill a gaping hole in the middle of the 49ers' defensive line.
The 49ers officially signed nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin to a three-year, $6 million contract this morning. Although you might not be too familiar with Franklin, he is expected to be a very important piece of the 49ers' defensive puzzle.
This is generally when I'd cite some of his statistics. But with a player such as Franklin, it's not about statistics. After all, in 13 games last season with the Ravens, he had 23 tackles and no sacks.
Here's one stat that does matter: Franklin is 6-foot-1, 320 pounds.
In signing Franklin, the 49ers have a player to play nose tackle in their 3-4 defense. In coach Mike Nolan's first two years, he didn't have anyone like him. Franklin can go for weeks without getting a tackle, but he might be doing everything asked of him.
The 49ers need a big guy in the middle who doesn't get pushed off the line of scrimmage. He needs to be able to be a two-gap player - he needs to be strong enough to be responsible for both gaps on either side of the center. He needs to be able to hold the center and, at times, a guard to allow the inside linebackers to step up and make plays closer to the line of scrimmage.
That is why Anthony Adams arrived at the 49ers' practice facility yesterday to get his shoulder pads and name plate from his locker. Adams was a good player as a defensive tackle in a 4-3, but he was not cut out to be a 3-4 nose tackle.
"You have to play with strength," Nolan said in late December. "Some guys are more penetrating type of guys and some guys play more of the power game. In (Adams') case, he plays more of the penetrating type of game. That's what he did in college and that's what he did here. That doesn't really suit us right now. ... there has to be a little more dirty work."
Franklin has the physique and mentality to get dirty.

The 49ers also re-signed wide receiver Bryan Gilmore, who started three games last season in place of Antonio Bryant. Gilmore caught just eight passes for 150 yards and one touchdown as the No. 3 receiver. He also rushed seven times for 94 yards.
And we haven't even drafted our 9 picks in the first four rounds yet! Or finished free agency.
Eh...not a big fan of Lelie...I hope we're only bringing him in to compete for the 3rd reciever...he is a decent deep threat, though, but thats about it. Waiting on hearing about Bennett or Stallworth...Saturday, March 3
Free-agent wide receiver Ashley Lelie signed a two-year deal with the 49ers for $4.3 million, including a $2 million signing bonus.
Yeah...I dont think its too far fetched to think that we could win the NFC West now.And we haven't even drafted our 9 picks in the first four rounds yet! Or finished free agency.![]()
I'm a fan of Lelie, I watched pretty much every game of his in Denver. Here in SF he is in the right spot. Here he's complimenting Vernon Davis who's a short to intermediate route guy, but we need a true number one WR for sure.Eh...not a big fan of Lelie...I hope we're only bringing him in to compete for the 3rd reciever...he is a decent deep threat, though, but thats about it.
