How bout this scenario to lift everyones sprits!

1. Minny trades with the Grizz for the 2nd pick
2. Minny drafts Evans with the 2nd pick because they apparently have him way up on their draft board.
3. Then the Thunder draft Rubio
4. Leaving us with Flynn or that worthless stick from Uconn

This in my mind would be a disaster. Flynn is good and im very high on flynn but NOT with the #4 pick!!!

and the Stick from Uconn! dont get me started...
ok i'll rant a lil bit. In a league that drafts loves to reach on 7ft's all the time... this "stick" couldn't get into the lotto until this year???---of course he doesn't have ANY competition in this weak draft(even more why hes overrated) he disappeared in "big games" and has no offensive game. is about the same width and weight of a pencil. He got destroyed by 6'7 players over and over again. YES he CAN block shots and we need that, but seriously... he sucks at everything else. Not to mention drafting a backup center at the #4???

anyway (deep breath) If Minny pulled this crap off I'd be pretty bummed im seriously worried that it could happen now. Who knows what they're about to do??? I know that with Kevin McHale gone they're moves might start making sense. They'd be smart to take Rubio and Harden. but who knows??? my opinion of them wont change until after the draft...

Either way i'll still hate Minny and Petrie if they get Evans or Rubio

Oddly your "nightmare" scenario makes me feel all warm and tingly.

Change your title of Nightmare Scenario to, "I am madly in love with Ricky Rubio and I really hate Hasheem Thabeet".

I'd be happy with Hasheem.

that is odd...very

but the good news for you is the "stick" would upset all of us so quickly with his sorry play in ever area other than help defense shotblocking. Your warm and fuzzy feelings will be gone in no time!!! nothing to worry about.

a look into the future with this stick...
He gets posted up, bullyed and destroyed by Kenny Thomas clones... you know how the "stick" struggles with thick 6'6-6'7 guys. Let alone anyone in man to man defense.

He, just like alot of people on our team cant create his own shot... LOL! but thats cool cause he doesnt have one ;), or any sort of post/offensive game.

Come on guys serious... look at the facts the dude is SO overrated! the NCAA was weak this year... and this draft is SO weak that he's just taking advantage of it, and teams are desperate enough to bite.

if we thought it was frustrating to watch JT pick up so many quick fouls... wow well enjoy the stick! hes gonna be just like Sam Dalembert...who was picked 26th in his draft...

one more time YES the stick will block the crap outa people here and there when hes on the floor. but the KEY is... on the floor...

Honestly if Isiah Thomas was our GM even he wouldn't be dumb enough to draft this guy

We could do a lot worse then Jonny Flynn, I think he is going to be a very solid pro.

you want a real nightmare scenario then how about this:
1.Griffin
2.Evans
3.Rubio
4.Kings trade down with the Knicks in the hopes of nabbing Flynn, Flynn gets taken before the Kings pick, we trade down again, take Chase Budinger and then promptly sell our remaining picks.

That would be a nightmare scenario.

Eh, if Rubio AND Tyreke are off the board, I think we deal down to Toronto for #9 and take Flynn/Holiday/Curry there. One will be available. We could probably unload Beno and the Raps could nab Harden.

OR we just take Harden at 4 and one of Maynor/Lawson/Mills/Collison at 23.

I'm all for that. If Rubio,Evans and Flynn are all of the board, I'd take Harden then just find a PG in the 23rd pick. I'm sure they're still will be a diamond on the rough with that pick.

Eh, I am NOT a fan of Thabeet. The games that I watched him play, he did not do a thing. The games that I watched, he grabbed 4, 4, 9, 6 rebounds and didn't score in double digits. Sure I checked his stats, however the games that I watched, I am just not sold on it. Its just MY opinion.

I´d be happy with Thabeet and Harden at #4 too. I don´t know why, but I think that rubio will be a big disappointment. I also like to idea of trading down #9.

Poor Sactown fan, all of the positioning and waiting is making him(her?) crazy. Look, if it would make you feel any better the rumor is that Minny wants the #2 in order to pick Thabeet. Their boards say they want to trade Love for the #2 and keep the 5 and 6. So calm your nerves there buddy.

Even if they do trade up and snag Evans, Rubio etc... Thabeet is excellent trade bait. I'd keep him, but I can think of alot of teams that would part with a PG if Thabeet is part of the deal. Like San Antonio for George Hill or something similar.

if george hill is the best deal we can come up for thabeet forget it draft evans then

i think the only player who would want to play for memphis is the player that the kings are high on so far... im really hoping that we get a trade swap with them..

4th 23rd 31st for 2 and 27th.

Thabeet would arguably have a larger win impact on this team than any other player in this draft. Thabeet will be a defensive anchor for a decade and I will be thrilled if we get him.

I only slightly want Rubio more.

Flynn, Evans, Curry. Meh...I'm intruiged but not excited about.

I'd be happy with Hasheem.

I second the motion. And may you and Ricky Rubio have lots of children someday. :D

Also, Hasheem Thabeet has been consistently in the top 3 of mock drafts that I read. If youl'd say it is dumb to draft Thabeet at #4, it's like saying you're the only person who's smart in the world of basketball.

Worst case is we blow the pick on someone who can't or won't be playing for the kings next year. Drafting Thabeet is 100% blowing the pick, anyone else is a well calculated risk. I hate to point it out, but, you are who you always will be. Thabeet is an NBA dropout waiting to hit the IL hard and heal slow. If he didn't have the drive to put on the weight before, short of steriods, I don't see putting them on now. Flynn at 4 has been circulated too much to be the truth.

Well considering we have Hawes and JT are are pretty good and getting better offensively Thabeet would be just what the doctor ordered.

Believe me, you're preaching to the choir on this one. Even if your nightmare scenario comes true, I don't think the Kings pick Thabeet. They would pick Flynn.

I'd be shocked if Petrie took Thabeet assuming he was available at #4. The dude has absolutely zero offensive moves, which in the NBA will allow defenses to mostly ignore him negating his alleged dominating presence. Garbage baskets and an occasional lob up toward the rim is the best Thabeet can offer. I read somewhere during past college season that he had one of the worst assists per minute ratios IN THE HISTORY of keeping such stats. His passing skills are non-existent - not exactly something GP ignores when drafting. The only reason Thabeet is listed as high as he is in this draft is its overall weakness, especially lack of big men. Thabeet is said to have first picked up a basketball at age 15 in his native Tanzania - ironically the same age Rubio entered European professional basketball.

Did Harden blow out a knee and I missed the story? If Harden and Thabeet are there... I like Harden. There are always trades to get PGs.

Nightmare scenario, Kings don't like the situation and just leave New York with no picks, ha!

Stop,Pleeze!

My heart can't take it!

My nightmare scenario:

Kings draft the anti-chemistry Tyreke Evans at #4, sell the #23, and pull a Patrick Ewing Jr. (ie training camp fodder) in the second round. Oh yeah, and then the team leaves after this season...

That's quite a nightmare.

To echo other's sentiments, I'd be perfectly fine with Thabeet if we can't get Rubio.

Also, I sort of like Harden better than Evans anyway, sooooo.......

That's quite a nightmare.

I don't think Evans is anti-chemistry (just a bad fit/not a guy I'm high on) but otherwise this is much more of a nightmare scenario to me than anything else in this thread.

Also, for whatever criticism I have of Petrie I still trust his evaluation of talent. I'm personally very low on Thabeet (there are few players in this draft that I like at all) but I have confidence that he'll make the right pick. After all, just because Rubio and Evans are gone (in the OP's scenario) doesn't mean Thabeet HAS to be the pick at #4. Heck, they could trade down for a team that does like the guy.

The only players in my nightmares are tweeners. Thabeet and Flynn are fine examples of guys who totally fit into a position that we need. Neither of them scare me in the slightest.
