NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

Lmao wtf was Denver’s coaching staff thinking?!
Yeah 2 timeouts and 20s and not going for the 4th and 5 down to give your kicker more breathing room.....I kicked in high school, and the goal posts get smaller and smaller the farther back you go. I made 50+ yard kicks in practice, but never tried 60 - dont think I could've kicked that far....its a long way.

Sure he did. - both statistically and in direct contributions to the win. The Bears won thanks in large part due to Fields and his winning throws. You're having trouble giving the Bears credit. They earned their win. Time to move on....
This is the issue I have with arguments that one player outplayed the other. You can't rely on statistics alone. You have to look at the whole picture...Impact on the game, key plays, etc. Statistically speaking, both QBs ended the day with very similar numbers, with Fields throwing two touchdowns while Trey put up a goosie...But, if you are talking about the impact both had on the game itself, and the end result, Fields clearly won the battle, and that is the only thing that counts in sports...You can throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns, but if you don't walk off of the field having won the game, the guy on the other team most likely outplayed you in one way or another.

I don’t know how you could watch that and say Fields was worse than Trey.

I’m a Fields stan still though. I think if he had good talent around him (LIKE IN SAN FRANCISCO) he’d be a total baller. I prefer his style of mobility as well. Dude looks so nimble scrambling to extend plays while Trey looks like he’s gonna try to hit you in the mouth with more power run style up the gut. And also he knows how to slide.

Should be noted that Mike Martz nearly ended Alex Smith’s career by making him a third string QB, once tried to replace (successfully, I might add) Kurt Warner with Marc Bulger, and pretty much got every single QB he ever coached very hurt. (Pretty much every QB who started under him suffered a season ending injury. Seriously, look it up.) So maybe he should just sit this one out.

Trey Lance currently trending because (a) people are absolutely freaking out on the internet and (b) my dude (or at lease a dude tagged as him) was making it rain harder than a Chicago downpour at the club.

I just hate it’s on video for vultures to use going forward. You know athletes do stuff like this and far worse. Just we don’t usually see it, so it doesn’t exist.

The internet would have imploded if Twitter existed when Joe Montana and Dwight Clark were hot young twenty year olds coming off of the biggest play in NFL history and completely unencumbered by significant others/ a fear of STDs.

Wonder what this says about the level of the Cards.
Chargers have one of the better offenses in the league...Herbert is MUCH better than Garrapolo or Lance. He keeps his composure well. But he hasn't looked too sharp since his 2nd drive of this game. Good thing the Chargers defense has rescued the offense (so far)

Yeah, not sure it's so much the Cards, but the Chargers have a great case of being the best team in the NFL. Just so well-rounded on both sides of the ball with an elite ascending QB.

Thankfully the 49ers are in the NFC. Bills, Chargers, Chiefs is an absolute gauntlet to get through.
