NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

For the record,

I would have taken Fields all day long. Still stand firmly behind that.
I was ecstatic when the Bears traded up for him. I've been a huge fan since seeing him in Beyond The Lights. He has so much talent and he's incredibly smart. I think he will have an up-and-down year due to so many holes on the roster, but next year and the following should see him blossom.

Fields’ flashes are so nice. I think he’d kill it with a good roster around him.

I was never a fan of either. If the Niners were to replace Jimmy, it was preferably for a QB that was a much better passer than Jimmy. The Niners problem was never that they were short on creative ways to run the ball. They can’t make the big pass with Jimmy and I dont think they can make the big pass now. It’s clear that Kyle believes that too.

I don’t follow amateur sports so I didn’t know much about Lance out of college…but immediately after they called his name and the first thing the announcers said was that he needs to work on his passing…I was extremely let down at the pick and the price. Give me a downfield QB all day..even a short pass game manager that never makes mistakes with our defense. Don’t give me a guy that “needs to work on his passing”

this team is built to win now. I think people were being a little naive pretending we can be patient with a green QB.

This is going to be very aggravating if he doesn’t break out.

He showed flashes on this last drive. Then it started raining so hard that it didn't really matter.

This game feels oddly reminiscent of that Colts-Niners game last season where the field conditions/weather were so awful/Kyle had his head in his butt for so much of the game that things just fell apart when they really shouldn't have.

Kyle having his head up his rear is an annoying recurring trait.

It's a trait that pretty much all the big name offensive playcallers have. Andy Reid, Kyle, McVay all have stretches where they forget how to call basic, functional offensive stuff. Obviously, you learn how to put up with it because the other 90% of the time is great but that 10% is freaking infuriating.

Between the “I don’t trust you” playcalling.

The “Trey isn’t good yet” smoke out of everyone at training camp.

Bringing Jim back.

We’ll be seeing him before too long.

It was a bad loss, but the rain (or snow) always makes the game-play a circus and unpalatable. Lance reminded me of the Cardinal game. I didn't see much of any progress honestly - it looks like he needed more preseason play. He pulls the ball-down quickly - and I don't think he understands he's not going to make the huge runs he had in D2. His short throws sucked - too many in the dirt. He reminds me of Kaepernick to a degree. Give him a few more games. It's the same problems as the last few years really. Suspect offense doesn't give enough help to the defense. 49ers have a tough schedule, and upchucking winnable games like these may mean the difference between playoffs or not. A loss against the Seahawks next week doesn't seem as outlandish with this skunk play today.

Geno has nowhere near the talent of Fields. Next week should be fine, even if Trey has another non-trusting clunker.
