NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

The entire team rolled over and died after that broken TD to Pettis.
I'd agree the defense rolled over, but offense has a long way to go - they looked DOA - I think expectations may be too high for this team based on last year's overachieving to make and gut through 2 playoff wins. And yes if they lose the next 2 games, I'd bet they bring in Garoppolo, just like you want..

It’s inevitable.

Also, Eli Mitchell being made of glass sucks. Jeff Wilson isn’t good enough with a terrible O-Line, and shout out to the new third round guy who can’t even crack the active roster.

Long suffering Bears fan. GM Poles overturned 60-70% of the roster. Looks like his draft picks are hitting. Head Coach Eberflus AND his staff are light years better than the Nagy/Pace fiasco. 49ers have a Super Bowl roster and the Bears roster really has no business beating these guys in the first game yet, This coaching staff is really, really good, I’m a big believer in Fields and the Bears defense looked faster and had more heart than I’ve seen in a very, very long time.

Next year the Bears will have the most cap room going into the off-season and they can finally address receiving upgrades for Fields. LFG.

Kind of what I suspected would happen if Lance wasn't ready. Jimmy has his drawbacks but the things he excels at really keep the chains moving. He probably isn't hitting any of those deep balls outside the numbers that Lance completed but he's not throwing 4 incompletions to wide open backs at the LOS and he's making quick decisions that Lance just isn't capable of right now.

It's a bad recipe when you have an extremely shaky interior O Line with basically a rookie QB who doesn't make quick decisions. His legs will get you a first down or two here and there but his slow decision making will lead to more punts than a statue of a QB who can get the ball out quick. Lance's ability to throw deep is negated if the line can't hold up.

The defense was just infuriating. How many times did they keep the chains moving on 3rd down for the Bears on completely unnecessary penalties that had zero effect on the play? Just all around stupidity mixed with refs that are looking to make themselves the stars of the game.

The balls in the grass were pathetic, most annoying part of Lance's subpar performance (even more so than the interception honestly) - certainly needs to get better if he wants to continue.

Anyone gleaming anything about Lance from that game is telling on themselves.

1. Monsoon weather
2. Shanny ultra conservative and didn't put on the gas when we had a chance to put the Bears away in the 1st half. Instead, let them hang around when it was 10-0 and they took momentum.
3. Lance isn't responsible for the complete lack of discipline on both sides of the ball. 12 penalties?
4. O-Line was very very bad
5. Starting RB Eli Mitchell made of glass.
6. No George Kittle in a game where George Kittle was very much needed with his blocking.
7. 49ers D totally bailed out the Bears offense that was extremely bad a majority of the game with gift penalties. They couldn't run the ball and outside of a couple broken plays; they did nothing.

Team needs to tighten up across the board and help their young QB, rather than expecting him to make up for everyone's lack of discipline/mistakes/bad O-Line play. Hurry back George Kittle. Lance played well enough to win this game if his team doesn't completely let him down.

Sticking with the storm motif, I'm going to wait a few more games until possibly raining on the parade , but the clouds are forming. Not a good feeling. Rain and all, 46% Completion% was very poor especially short throws in the grass. Lance didn't play well enough to be let down by his team - its the opposite - he didn't contribute enough to his team at the QB position. He hasn't earned the "leader" moniker yet to warrant that thinking.

The Bears wanted the game more - and they earned it. Their defense saved a likely FG or TD with the early turnover, and their offense generated the winning plays.

Yeah, no bias here at all LOL. The Bears offense was utter trash. They had the one broken play and took advantage of the 49ers gifting them this game. They "deserved" to win because the 49ers basically did everything wrong

Dude, he couldn't grip the ball. The last what.. 8 minutes of the game? You couldn't even see the field through the broadcast.

The big mistake was when he stared down the receiver for the pick. That was avoidable. There were other really great throws/reads and a majority of the rest of the game was game calling/weather related.

Its all about scoring in pro sports......the Bears had more than one broken play. You gotta give the Bears some credit. Fields outplayed Lance, and the Bears defense shut the 49ers offense down completely for points scored in 2H. And the bigger problem for Lance is the lack of accuracy. Staring down a receiver is more correctable. The 49ers looked about as good as the rest of the division yesterday.

The Seahawks look better than I thought with Smith - he looked abysmal last year, but the Seattle O Line has looked pretty good. Denver was favored by 6 pts, and the Seahawks are playing up for em. Course Wilson being on Denver has something to do with it.

Fields did not outplay Lance. Nothing to really add if you think that's the case.
