How about go after 4th pick overall (Gardner) for Samuel and their 2nd and next year's 3rd rounder if available.... I like the way Gardner seems to be ball-hawking often. Unlike so many idiotic corners these days (there's been a total regression in corner play in the NFL), he plays the ball vs the man. 49ers need a confident corner to start. The Jets likely won't give their 4th pick though. There's a large chasm between 10th and 4th. Who knows if they'll actually trade the 10th or not.

Ugh. Not the most encouraging report.

In general, it's always better to be a year early rather than a year late on these kind of situations. Yeah, losing Deebo, a top 3 offensive weapon in the NFL, sucks, but he's made it clear he doesn't want to stay with the 49ers. Rather than deal with that distraction all season (where he might potentially get hurt, or might get "figured out" with a down year), deal him at his peak value coming off an all-pro season

49ers still have a championship window, especially if you can stock up some more young talent at weaker positions (maybe look at Kyle Hamilton? If Stingley drops? one of the 3 O-line drop?). Aiyuk/Kittle/Mitchell/Sermon is still a good weapons core and you can likely still add in the draft.

At the same time, Shanny/Lynch keep things close to the vest. The whole world was duped they were taking Mac Jones just last off-season. It'd be a surprise for them to leak their true intentions before actually pulling the trigger.

They’re really going to play LeVeon chicken with him. Smh
The issue for him is that if he sits out, he doesn’t accrue any time on his contract is still stuck with the Niners for an extra year. Deebo actually has no leverage in this scenario.
