I'd rather make the playoffs this year and go through it next year than miss the playoffs to get a 3 game head start.
Obviously not my dog to hunt but I don't disagree. BUT, I didn't understand the big trade to move up for Lance in the first place.

Me neither. Especially when there were other options available at their original pick. It could turn out to be a franchise changer but I think it was a low odds gamble.

Cards collapsing again. If Jim wasn’t a bad QB the Niners could steal this division. But nope. Jim happens.

it was too much risk. They could've had Fields or Jones without future picks or maybe 1 pick. I didn't like Jones too much but he looks better than both Garrapolo and Lance right now. What's the analogy - lower ceiling, higher floor. In 3 years its possible Lance is a great QB - or not, murky at this point. My guess is barring Garrapolo screwing up the next 2 games, they will run the same thing next year. due to massive contract which was also a screw up.

Na, he’s 100% cut. His contract has zero guaranteed dollars and each of said dollars will then get distributed into Bosa and Deebo’s new contracts.

The Cardinals don't look much better than the 49ers....they're defense is looking suspect with a couple injuries and they dont have their #1 receiver. They may switch places with the Rams. Colts on the other hand are my dark-horse disruptive team - they may have 1 or 2 upsets in em. Had thought Titans but look too injured. None of the NFC teams wildcard teams really are dark-horse capable imo - Rams - maybe? Cardinals look 1-and done. And Definitely not 49ers. Vikings, I dunno. Luckily for 49ers they have tiebreakers over Vikings and Eagles, but they must beat the Texans to more-or less lock the wildcard.

They aren't winning crap with Garrapolo - grossly overpaid.

Oh I thought he had 1 year left guaranteed - it was only his first 4 years? If not guaranteed, outside of Garrapolo leading a deep playoff run, yeah he likely gets cut. Certainly cut if he screws up the Wild Card. So they can cut him without penalty?

I think it’s none. At the very least next to none, like only a million in dead money. They’ll get out of him after this season no matter what.

Texans beating the Chargers. Jim better hope he shows up next week because it seems it won’t be a cakewalk. I morbidly just want him to lose honestly.

Patsies going down - good.

Chargers may not make the playoffs......no bueno. Their defense stinks it up even though they have possibly the best offense in the league.

Honestly who would you rather have as your QB right now, JimG or Texans Davis Mills? The rookie (Stanford grad) since being named starter recently very solid. Totally outplayed Justin Herbert in route to 41-29 shellacking of the Chargers (QB rating: Mills 130.6 / Herbert 92.1) Favored Niners opening line for next week shrinking by the hour.

Which AFC teams can beat the Chiefs? Chargers, Bills, Colts, Titans......none of the above - dunno ; Chargers look to be the best candidate but have screwed up their playoff chances - probably should've postponed the game due to COVID.

Staley is a complete tool - video-game coach - going for any and all 4th downs no matter the circumstance.

Who can beat the Chiefs? Maybe and pretty big maybe is the Titans and only if two things happen. Get back Henry from injury for playoffs and get home field against the Chiefs. Titans probably have best D in AFC, especially when healthy. Chargers been exposed of late with a horrible defense not unlike Bills defense which is not a strong calling card to say the least. Although Buffalo running and aerial attack offense with Josh Allen dual threat, scary dangerous. Colts have a lot going for themselves and could upend Titans for division title. A friend of mine have a debate going who is top QB in AFC, Mahomes, Herbert or Allen. Very close call with Kansas City QB clearly #1 last two seasons but now has some coming on very strong competition. Best QB in all of NFL - 37 year old Mr. Rodgers, with all due respect to 44 year old Mr. Brady.

Just gotta hope whatever the heck happened to them online weeks 1-5 happens again in the playoffs. Lol

Otherwise we’re gonna get Brady : Mahomes II with hopefully the exact same result.

Slab you get your wish with Lance getting bonafide experience from an opposing teams best. Houston is one thing but the rams is quite another....they absolutely must win against texans now. I dont think lance is ready for rams

There’s going to be a mix of OMG WTF NO and THATS WHY WE PICKED HIM!

Win or lose, These games are going to be huge for him and this experience is going to big going into next season IMO.

It certainly makes these last games more interesting, and lowers my expectations.

Shanahan gave Lance some guarded "practice-praise".

49ers favored by 13 and even 15 over Texans!.....I gotta ask my brother about his friend in Vegas......double digit win differential other than 10 seems pretty unlikely with a rookie QB.

I have a feeling there will be two "that's why we picked him" plays and about 30 "omg wtf no" plays.

And I'm sure Shanahan will throw out all the motion plays that get Deebo and Kittle their patented YAC so he can run Lance up the middle for 2 yards a carry.

So does the news that Jimmy fractured his thumb in the second quarter before the Titans scored 17 unanswered points and he still managed to complete the touchdown pass to tie the game with 2 min left change anyone's opinion about him? Probably not. I still think the best outcome from this season was Jimmy G leading us to at least 1 win in the playoffs and then getting traded in the offseason for a 3rd or 4th round pick. I don't think that happens if Jimmy is injured and misses the rest of the season.

Except the other team is starting their rookie QB - Davis Mills. Stanford University product currently #1 rated rookie QB in the NFL. Mac Jones rated #2 and so goes the list with Trey Lance rated #6. I agree the line probably to high but anything can happen since so many players out for Texans injured and due to Covid. But did not matter yesterday as they upset Chargers 41-29.

lol 30 why are so many people suddenly acting like this kid is a lousy scrub, not a highly regarded prospects a lot of teams outside of SF liked?

He just looks like a rookie QB through and through. Haven't seen anything out of him other than a couple of big plays that tell me he can keep this team in the playoff hunt. I'm not saying he won't have a bright future but it will be a wasted season if they made it this far and then dropped out of the playoffs because they had to put Lance in at the end of the year. At that point we're all going to be annoyed that they didn't just put him in from the start to get a year under his belt.

Meanwhile you'll be here telling everyone 'I told you so' lol
