Way too early hot take; The Niners are the worst team in the best division, above .500 but going to miss the playoffs.

He's better than either of the quarterbacks that beat Brady in superbowls...

Uh no........Foles MVP performance Garoppolo will never get close to and he had his shot already and failed., while Manning is a whole level better than Jimmy. Garoppolo is a B- QB - middle of the pack.....if he was better than Foles and Manning, he would've made that 4th down wide open throw in the SuperBowl........Garappolo is on par with Alex Smith without Smith's running ability. He's like the majority of QBs in the NFL - if his line holds up, he does pretty well. He's middle of the pack.

I didn't see the Seattle or Arizona games. No clue on that. It's hard to rate when the Lions are probably a bottom 5 team. Losing Wilson Jr was a big blow to RB depth.....Mitchell looked great, but I think the Lions just sucked. I'd wanted the 49ers to go CB in 1st round......still a bit annoyed about that.

Alex >>>>>>> Jimmy

Smith had his chance, although it wasn't his fault against the Giants.....it was their Special Teamer (with "K" -- too lazy to look up). At least Jimmy got 'em to the Super Bowl, although it was their defense really. Luck of the draw, had the Chiefs had a decimated front line like against the Bucs last year, I wonder if that would've swayed the outcome 2 years before - I still think maybe not. Chiefs defense would've still stepped up enough I think. Anyway, The Chiefs have taken the baton from the Patsies as my most hated team, with Seattle a close 2nd or 3rd. Gawd the Browns imploded like a black hole......

I run hot and cold on Arizona. Obviously I’m back to hot now because Kyler can be elite (as he was today) but when things go wrong it shows and he kind of spirals … Seattle still has Russ so you can never count them out.

The Lions are really bad and we let them right back in this game. A good team would have smacked us around. I’m really not thrilled about much for the Niners today.

As for CB’s I wanted Samuel Jr over Banks. At least Lenoir looks pretty legit out of the 5th round. And Ambry Thomas certainly exists…

Kyle Williams can forever kick rocks.

People crap on Jimmy but he's done nothing other than win, from the moment he stepped on the field for the Niners. Completely turned the franchise around from game 1. He's got his problems for sure but they simply win when he plays and they don't when he's out.

But that is one of his biggest problems right there. He can't stay on the field.

After watching yesterday I’ve been reminiscing about DeForest Buckner. I refuse to believe the office couldn’t have taken the contract they gave AA and worked something out. They resigned the wrong guy. DeFo elevated the entire team around him and single handedly earned AA that contract with his elite play. Can’t say I’m too shocked to be right about him reverting back to an average space eater the second DB was gone. :(

Yep. Kinda like Justin Smith turning Aldon into a flash in the pan star.

Honestly confused by some of the venom Jimmy gets, like I get he may not be flashiest and his injury history is troubling but I do feel like he is a winner. Which does sort of create new problems with Lance. Interesting that Jimmy may be the last successful "understudy" QB the way current trends are headed.

Armstead’s never been a huge stats guy but the advanced stats love him. He was one of our leaders on PFF against the Lions.

Also watched the Colts-Hawks game and the Colts look like they might be terrible this year (despite Wentz actually play decently) in large part thanks to them vastly overpaying Buckner and Darius Leonard and completely forgetting to bring in complementary role players.

Man, I can’t look at another team looking too vad because Russell Wilson would have annihilated us yesterday too. We gave up 30-plus to Jarred Goff and someone St Brown. We were lucky we played a bottom-dweller.

Anyways, I’d always have much rather have vastly overpaid Buck (who I don’t think is overpaid) than AA (who is). Said from day one it was a team-altering mistake.

With the Uncle Sherm rumors swirling; I wonder what he would even look like if he steps on the field this year?

Honestly I don’t think he was washed last season, I saw a player protecting his #1 in a lost season in a last attempt to secure a semi-big contract on his name. Obviously didn’t work out for him even before the out of character issues arose. It’ll be interesting.

He's a bit like late career Alex Smith. He wins but he needs a good defense. His mistakes stick out a lot more than his good plays too. Probably because neither player really throw the ball downfield that well for big plays. They just kind of methodically move down the field and score on a forgettable 1 yard hand off to the RB.

Jimmy is 23-8 as a Niners QB. They looked liked a dumpster fire before trading for him and they're a dumpster fire any time he's out injured. Lance may be a much better QB in time but I think he's well behind Jimmy right now from what I've seen. I don't see any reason why the team shouldn't be patient as long as they're on a trajectory for the playoffs.
