[NEWS] Man arrested in death of Ramsey

The latest news on Fox says he actually confessed. I owe Patsy Ramsey an apology, even though she never knew about my nasty comments about her. I pray she's at peace, with her daughter. Greta VonS said she talked to the Ramseys a number of times and they KNEW they weren't guilty so they never let the negativity of some of the press and a lot of others get to them.

RIP, Patsy and JonBenet.

At last, hard work by smart investigators overcomes the incompetent work of the Boulder PD, who in December 1996 hadn't investigated a murder in three years.

Also interesting to note the portrayal of the Ramsey's in the media and the negative reaction so many of us had to JonBenet's makeup and costumes, compared to the costumes/uniforms we choose to allow our own children to wear for their dance recitals, sports teams, etc..

I've had the opportunity to speak with a few experts in various fields who became involved in the investigation after the initial failure of the Boulder Police, including handwriting analysts, voice stress analysts, etc.

All of them felt there was an intruder and that the Boulder PD's (not wanting to upset a wealthy family) failure to properly remove the family from the home and secure the scene, which allowed John Ramsey to move JonBenet's remains from where it was found, and the untying of the cord found around her neck rather than preserving the evidence, would prove to be a nearly unsurmountable obstacle to proving this case in court.

Kudos to those whose hard work solved the case. I pray the media and courts let the trial run it's course without becoming a circus, but I'm not betting on it!

R.I.P. Mrs Ramsey, and watch your baby dance every day!

I too had some doubt...sadly when there are no suspects. we get caught up in all the media hype. I am very pleased if they got the right man.
Too bad P.Ramsey is not around to have seen this developement.
lets hope she's looking down & her soul is at peace.

To be fair the majority of murders are commited by family memebers and friends. Guess they should have looked at friends as closely as they did the family.

I'm not buying it, there's too many descrepancies in stories. As far as the confession goes, they played it this morning and all he said was he was there and the murder was an accident, he never actually said he did it. Plus the fact that all this came out after Patsy died, coincidence, hmm. His brother and ex-wife both said he wasn't in the area when she was murdered but who knows, the media is dying to pin it on someone and they just may have found their man.

WOW DA is on now, this is a complete media/public disaster, this guy didn't do it I am on the record now. Like I said above none of this makes sense at all.

It doesn't make sense? We'll all know soon enough. There is still DNA and they can match handwriting against the ransom note.

Inconsistencies? I think the only inconsistencies are what the media is trying to put forth to the public based on incomplete information.

This isn't a case of the media all of a sudden picking this guy out of a crowd in Thailand and convicting him before law enforcement gets involved. They're not telling everything right now, because there are some things about the crime, including how she was subdued, etc. that were not made public and only the investigating officers and the perpetrator would know.

From what's been said, investigators have been closing in on this guy for a while now. I think, after the initial botching of the case by the Boulder PD, they wanted to make sure they had a pretty good case against him, with or without a confession. What it now sounds like is another child predator who was going to kidnap her and do who knows what. As bad as it may sound, JonBenet is probably better off having died during the initial encounter than had he been successful in subduing her and getting her out of the house.

Well, looks like you and the others who skeptical may well be right. You know what bugs me the most? Not the media - we're used to them or should be.

What really bugs me is they have DNA and they have handwriting samples from the ransom note. The idea that law enforcement would NOT check those things before this became a media circus really irritates the crap out of me.

We're supposed to believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty. And, because of that, we're supposed to believe the police do their due diligence before this kind of thing becomes headlines all over the world.

I hope he did do it simply because, in all honesty, I really don't want to hear about it any more...

that man is crazy..even if he's innocent he should still be locked up...I dont really know what to believe but that Santa teddy bear is a huge link

Even after a cold hit in the DNA database, they still have to test "His" DNA for confirmation. My bet is (since he's a registered sex offender and required to provide a DNA sample for the database) they got the hit and were looking for him. Of course, none of that explains the "he was with me in Alabama" statement of his ex-wife.

Either way, the DA and the investigators are properly keeping their mouths shut and will let the evidence talk to the grand jury.

Good to know that (probably purposeful) investigative and legal incompetence is present in more than one Colorado county.

There's something so totally bizarre about this whole thing and it just keeps getting MORE bizarre.

He was flown back to the US business class, getting a champagne meal, treated like some kind of CEO or something, and not placed in custody until he actually stepped onto US shore.

That smacks of plausible deniability to me. The person "escorting" him back could talk to him without having to Mirandize him. I'm beginning to think law enforcement may actually have a lot more than they're going to talk about. If so, I would applaud them for not giving away their case ahead of time...

this story ALWAYS reeked to me. what an attention whore karr turned out to be. i don't know what really happened in this case, and this is certainly one of the most intriguing cases in recent memory. but, i always had a funny feeling about the whole jon karr thing. how much more bizarre could this thing become?

Oh, I have a feeling we've barely stuck a toe into the pool of bizarre...

God I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of this whole thing but espcially sick of the complaints about his transport.
Karr could NOT be arrested out side the US. Beceause of the nature of the crime they could not transprot him with other passagers having access to him so they HAD to put him in buisness class ALONE. Buisness class tix include champange meal. Since he was NOT under arrest he was entitled to the meal. As soon as he got into CA he was placed under arrest.

I jsut wish they could have preformed the DNA ttest BEFORE geting him out of the Thai hell hole he was in for sex crimes. Now the tax payers of CA have to house the creep for a wile before he is tured loose in the US to commmite further sex crimes.
