Even more interesting is I see more mock drafts with us taking Cousins. DX and NBADraft.net included
I like that year after year DX has been spot on come draft night with the top 10. The top 5 are almost 100% the last few years.

Landrys rebounding did go up the more minutes he played, as well as his points. Cousins is a great rebounder. JT did way better coming off the bench than he did starting. It seems he calms down and doesnt commit as many stupid fouls when he comes off the bench. Every player has weaknesses. When it comes down to landry and jt at the 4, Landry any day of the year. The same can be said for Landry that he's an energy player off the bench, he's shown he's just as effective starting as he is off the bench although from what I've seen he's even more effective coming off the bench and so is JT but if you have Cousins as that big who scores then JT rebounding and doing what he does then have Dally in for defense and laundry come in and you won't be losing any offense really.
Thing about Landry that is concerning as a starter is rebounding and he just is too small to guard the bigger PF's let's not forget Pau pretty much shot 80% against Landry both times.
Either way would be fine...no telling which line up would be most effective yet.

I really feel that what JT brings to this team gets taken for granted. The thing about Thompson that is HUGE for us is that for the most part he plays center equally as well as he plays power forward. This gives the Kings a big advantage when it comes to their bigman rotation. JT really allows Westphal to customize his big man lineup.
JT falls apart. You just said it. That is why petrie went out and got landry. He hasnt proven to me( I dont mind eating crow if he turns into a beast and becomes the 16 and 10 guy) yet that he can start. Ticky tac fouls and inconsistent scoring. Landry is way more consistent right now than thompson is. Its not like landry is old or getting old. He is still a young guy. JT is the perfect big off the bench. Energy is key with him. He hustles.

The Nets traded CDR to the Bucks today. Essentially gave him away for a future 2nd rd pick. The fact that the Nets isn't impressed with him is not news, but this trade leaves them with a big hole at the wing position, since the only option left - Courtney Lee, is even more underwhelming than CDR.
So either the Nets fill the void via the draft or via FA. If via FA, why the rush to trade now? Curious. Are they really targeting Johnson? Really?
.
Couple things:
Courtney Lee is a lot better than CDR.
They also have Terrence Williams.
But still, your main point stands, they're thin on the wing.
Terrence Williams can only play one position at a time. I'm sure the Nets wouldn't mind having two Terrence Williams though, for they're very high on him.
I've seen the Nets played live. Courtney Lee sucks. That's all I have to say. Seeing them live, seeing Lee, CDR, Yi, Humphries, and Boone pretend to be basketball players on the court made me realize why the Nets were so god awful. They were so bad they brought Harris and Lopez down to their level. Boone was the absolute worse, just garbage. Lee only a hair better. Then CDR, Yi, and Humphries were at a level between suckiness and garbage. I never thought watching a live game could be so torturous, until I saw that gang.
.
New Jersey has worked out Johnson, their gm says a possiblity, and today on hoopshype it says they will probably draft Johnson and go after Boozer in free agency (over other bigs like Amare).
Its obvious they are clearing out their wing for Johnson, that why they got rid of CDR.
One game notwithstanding, Courtney Lee is a lot better than CDR.
"Here’s the directive, and it really hasn’t changed: Rod Thorn, more than anything else today, is still trying to create the second full max slot in case LeBron says, 'Okay, I’m coming, and I’m bringing along so-and-so.' That’s the ticket, and we’ll say it again: If you’re in for a penny, you’re in for a pound. The Nets would have to use $16M of the $27M they have in cap room on LBJ, and his friend isn’t necessarily going to be had for the leftover $11M. So one day before the draft, everything is in play -- a Devin Harris salary dump, a trade down the first round to save a few million, and virtually anything that will maximize their chances of bagging the grand prize a week from Thursday. Can they pull it off? Who the hell knows? But it would basically put the Nets on a even playing field with the Knicks." .
I know there have been no rumors that have Philly picking one of the two big men, and no mock drafts have them picking anyone but Turner; but it sure would make things interesting if they drafted for need at #2.
If Chad Ford is to be believed, Doug Collins wants to draft a man, not a boy. Collins was said to be disappointed that Favors and Cousins still have ways to go maturity wise after meeting with them.
But no, I wouldn't be surprised if Philly takes a big man. I'd do the same if I'm the GM. But they seem to be in a win-now mode if the reports are to be believed.
.
All rumors and speculation aside, I honestly don't see why we aren't hearing more about the possiblity that Philly might deviate from the expected. I know that Turner is the concensus #2 pick, but of all the teams in the top 5, Philly seems to have the most obvious need, and that is for frontline help. Even if they are counting on Hawes to be their starting center, they are still awfully thin up front.

Hawes/Brand/Speights = most of your minutes. Also they still kinda like Jason Smith as their 4th big. So that's already three young bigs and the Brand anchor around their necks. They could certianly use a stud there, but they are a deeper up front than they are at SG where they were often running two PG sets last year.
I don't think they have to trade Iggy -- unless they want to get younger and shed his contract. They have nobody to backup at SG right now (unless you count 6 foot nothing Lou Williams) and Turner would probably be the best play maker on the team right away so he'd be their backup PG as well. Iggy is fine at SG or SF and he'll play minutes at both. They could go big with Turner, Iggy, Young and two of their bigs but probably their best starting 5 is Holiday, Turner, Igoudala, Brand, and umm, Hawes. They really shouldn't give up on Brand as a starter just yet because he's untradeable, but even so I think Speights will be solid at PF. They need a center now more than anything else.
It's funny because between Hawes and Brand, they'll have absolutely no shotblocking whatsoever. But really though, that starting lineup is a solid foundation for them if they go Turner. I think Iggy will be able to co-exist finely with him.
Brand is short but he's actually a decent shotblocker because of his reach. At least he used to be, I haven't followed him since he left the Clippers
