I don't think they HAVE to trade Iggy either. I just think an Iggy for Big Al trade would make sense for both sides. Though I think Minny wants to free up the money too.
Even there I disagree. Not unless Minnesota takes back Elton Brand and that's not happening. Jefferson and Brand can only play PF so they'd have half their cap space committed to the same position for the next three years. Jefferson would be a nice piece for them, but then they have to fill the hole that Igoudala vacates in the lineup. I'm not a big Thaddeus Young fan, I think he's a bench player on a good team. If they find a taker for Brand it might happen, but it'll be another two seasons before he becomes an expiring contract so they're going to have to wait it out.

Jefferson has been a center for three years. Even before then he played a good amount of minutes there. Elton's been a real disapointment overall, but I think he remains a pretty strong defender so they'd be a good match.

I'm quite sure Iggy and Turner could work, but that's a real lack of outside shooting on the wing. Turner I think will improve a lot, but its a little dicey.

The main thing is I will take the 25 year old 6'10" 265 lb 20-10 guy over the 26 year old 6'6" 210 all around star with a shaky jumper. I think whoever gets Jefferson will be getting a real steal.

Yeah but isn't that exactly why Minnesota is trying to trade him? I'm an Al Jefferson fan too -- I think he's an underrated player overall and watching him work in the post is a thing of beauty. But he's not big enough to defend the center position and that's put his teams at a disadvantage when they've been forced to play him there. He's a potential All-Star if he's your PF. At center he's a very productive player but a defensive liability. That's maybe not a reason to pass on such a productive player, but it seems to me that he gives them exactly what Brand does.

I see your point about the lack of shooting though. They're loaded down with perimeter guys who are slashers and not shooters. That is problematic. Both Holiday and Turner will have to improve their jumpshot if that's their future backcourt.
