When you are on a 4 game losing streak - there is only one medicine that can cure the illness - the Knicks. Since Sir Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928 nothing has cured better. Any time your team is losing, things are going bad, shots aren't falling - Knicks are there to change that. Kings 6-8 for the season but 5-2 at home are in the middle of a 4 gam home stand preparing to start a winning streak tonight when they face the 0-15 New Jersey Nets.

Despite some difficult years in the recent past - there are plenty of things that we as Kings fans have to be grateful for. Some are obvious and some are not so obvious. The obvious things include that great run we had in the beginning of this decade, all the good players, coaches, wins we had. Not so obvious things are on the more personal level. For example:
I am grateful that I am not a laker fan. That would be awful.
I am grateful that Isaiah Thomas was never out coach or GM.
I am grateful that we never signed TMac, Iverson, and such
I am grateful that we never traded for Shaq
I am grateful that we never traded Gasol to the lakers
I am grateful that we never had a chance to draft Marvin Williams
I am grateful for the Clippers, Nets, Knicks, Wolves, Grizzlies, Warriors, Bobcats
Finally, I am grateful that KTs contract might expire in my lifetime.

Last night while I was returning from a party, I was amazed about the number of insane people building lines in from of stores despite being very cold. I also hope that the number of killed people won't exceed the last years. Watching those nut jobs waiting in line, I was wandering what GP would do in the situation where he could wait under such circumstances to get us a decent center. It would be hilarious watching all the GMs in line trying to get ahead and trying to steel good deal from each other. It would be fun to watch but for us it would end the same. On the following press conference GP would give a following statement.
"I was in a good position, was on my way to the center isle, had a clear path, all items were there. Then while I was passing trough the 6'7'' isle I saw a deal I just couldn't pass on. It was a buy one get one free type of deal. They were two guys that can play multiple positions , they can shoot threes almost as well as Spencer Hawes, they are flexible and they only cost MLE. How could I possibly pass on this deal ?

Temporary measures have their way of becoming permanent. Starting Donte Greene won't become one at least as long as we are healthy but until then it wouldn't be such a bad thing. He seems to be the best shooter we have at the moment, decent defender , runs the floor, rebounds, block shots and as long as he doesn't have to handle the ball and pass - he will do for now. It is nice to see for a change that one of they guys who we wrote up - proved that he can play and play well.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings had no problem beating the Knicks because they are much better individually and as a team. Only player that I would remotely want on the Kings would be David Lee but he wouldn't be an optimal solution. It was the easiest opponent this season and much easier than Nets will be. Couple things weren't very good. We turned the ball over too much again and we missed too many free throws.

AWARD TIME

TDM - Nate Robinson. We didn't guard him much either.
LW-VC - Al Harrington - I expected more
JHA - Udoka - in 17 minutes - my frandmother would have at least one point against the Knicks
SAR-Methuselah - Larry Hughes. Couls also win other awards
RA&1 - Duhon
Jax/Walk - Douglas. Can't shoot, can't stop shooting.

WTF moment of the game - Knicks
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
You would think that Nets would be much easier opponent than Knicks but in our situation - You would probably be wrong. Our players will be well fed and I would not be surprised at all if they don't take the Nets seriously. Additionally, theory of big numbers ALWAYS works. It is just the question how big the number has to be. Nets will see this game as a big chance to win a game. It is pretty embarrassing to be a professional with 0-15 record. Nets have a horrible roster with few decent players and few decent prospects. This is a "must win" game even for this team. Will be interesting to see how well we can deal with it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Evans - triple double coming soon
Beno - another one not healthy
Noc - okay
Thompson - small step in the right direction
Hawes - better but not what we need

Greene - nice
Casspi - also
Sergio - pass more shoot less
Brockman - I like Jon. Too bad - he is too short.

Rest - mateen
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Nets are 0 and everything, at home, on the road in any way possible. trouble is - they have to win a game at some point. Would be nice if that "point" happens some other time. Lopez is a nice young player. Douglas-Roberts will get the TDM. LW-VC goes to Simmons. It will be my pleasure to give Ra&1 to Hassell. Nets win this one(jinx).

Didn't Lopez have something like 30+ pts and 12+ rbds last game???? he isn't a finesse center, a back to basket one. More like a well rounded Noah. Depending on how pissed Devin Harris is, this one is a toss up. Should be a good maturation benchmark for our team. You're supposed to be able to beat the bad teams, and then fight vs the good ones.

I loved Brook coming out of college and thought he was the best center in the draft. I would absolutely love if we could find a way to pry him away from the Nets. Whereas they only have two good players locked up for the forseeable future, and he's one of them, I doubt they would part with him. But I can dream...

NJN are coming to this game with a thought "he have to win this game or else"
cause they are desperate for a win because the next two games are mavs and lakers and they wont win and then they will break the losing record which is 0:17 and they are now at 0:15 record...

but kings are playing in arco with the croud behind them and kings are much better then them

I was reading the game preview on Yahoo!, and noticed Tyreke said, “I knew I had 19 points and was trying to do everything I could to get a triple-double", in regards to the Knicks game. Does this bother anyone? It kind of makes me feel like he's already in the mode to try to buff his stats. Really not a big deal I'm sure, but meh.

What? It bothers you that he was trying to get more assists? If anything that is a great thing.

Reread what I said. I obviously said what "bothers" me is the fact it may have seemed like he would try to stuff his stats. IE, Ricky Davis. I guess a rebound is different than an assist.

Pretty sure what he meant was that the assists meant more to him then his 20 Point streak. Since when are assists a bad thing? We all know he wants ROY Jennings would not think twice of padding his stats for it.

It kinda threw me for a loop the first time I read when he said he was going to go after ROY. Which of course is pretty much "which rookie has the best stats" contest most of the time. It does worry me a bit when a rookie comes out and states he is going for individual achievements in a team sport.

It doesn't bother me, to be honest. Tyreke seems like he has a winning mentality. Memphis won 20 something in a row, and he's already made us significantly better. I highly doubt Tyreke would pad his stats if threatened to cost us wins. When he was trying to pad his assist column on Wednesday, aside from it not working, came after the game was pretty much over (it's obviously not over until it's over, but I don't see the Knicks coming back from 20 down with 4 minutes left). I actually wished Westphal would have pulled him, considering he already had some minor injuries.

Also, Thompson stated he too wanted to be ROY at the beginning of last season, for whatever it's worth.

Doesn't bother me. We were running them off the court, and we're talking about a 20 yr old rookie going for his first triple double. Same thing happened before with Webber and Miller. Maybe Vlade to. Someone would mention how far they were from a triple double during a timeout in the 4th, and they would go out and try to get it. I remember players here on more than one occasion saying to the media after the game that they knew how close they were to a triple double during the game.

I remember that too. Rick wasn't too fond of letting players stay in the game to get individual achievements other than a W, if the NY game is any indication, it seems Westphal is more amicable to that sort of thing. I don't know if that's good or bad. It's a risk, obviously, but big scoring nights, triple doubles, etc. do build a lot of hype, make the players more visible in sports media, and ultimately put people in the stands (and thus make more money for MSE).

That was kind of what I referenced in the grades. Not the quote, but that was the impression I got. And yeah, understandable perhaps, but a bit strange, especially to admit. I actually got the feeling both Reke AND Westphal were aware of the potential records and interested in notching them. As long as it doesn't manifest earlier in a game that is still in question not a major issue though. Kid still seems grounded, but he's definitely developing a sense of what is possible.

Tyreke off to a good start. I think we may have a REALLY good starting 5 when kmart comes back with donte at the 3. Our defense is also looking alot better.
