Need picture of......

It wasn't as funny as the popcorn. He should of come up with a better idea. Something new. ;)

This was just gross.

Hmm some ideas...
Put some black ink around a headband and try to get bobby to wear it.:D

Or glasses causing a black ring around his eyes. :D

Call a show to help you setup a joke and get it on national tv. :D (Bring some action to Sacramento.)

On that note, I have always wondered why no rookie ever spikes the bagels/doughnuts/fruit/whathaveyou they are supposed to bring with some laxatives. Should make for an entertaining practice to say the least.

Looks at this pick,

Hawes walks around with ice on knees???

Hopefully nothing. They must have just got done with practice. Half the team probably ices down afterward...

Either that, or maybe something to do with that big tumble he took the other night?...

I don't think this is Donte trying to get even with Bobby or this is Donte trying to retaliate in a negative way at all. Teammates joke around with each other. If Donte wasn't liked or if he was was trying to get at Bobby, I dont think he would have played with his car, he would have done something else, something more personal.

Yes, Donte is a rookie and yes, it is tradition to comply with the "rookie duties," but I think this was all done in fun. I haven't heard anything of this other than on the message board... I think we're all making a bigger deal of it than it really is. Just because Donte is returning a prank doesn't mean he's breaking a rookie code or that the rookie duties will end. He'll still have to bring fruit, carry bags, and all the other stuff the players make him do. I think its ok for him to mess around with his teammates, especially the veterans.

Edit: As soon as I posted this, I noticed an article in the Bee talking about his prank. In that article, they still seemed to take the situation lightly. It didn't seem that serious, but rather something that would make the fans laugh.

After reading comments on SacBee's live blog today, I might have to take back what I said about us fans reading too much into it. Doesn't sound like Bobby was happy at all. Sorry about that... I should have looked more into it before the post.

All I have to say to Bobby is don't dish it if you can't take it.

Yeah, because it's always about the testosterone, right? Just like plebes have to put up with certain things WITHOUT retaliating, so do rookies. Greene stepped over the line. Period.

Oh yes, quite the period. And quite the line. Its always funny when you call a bully's bluff. I suppose next we'll progress to gang beatings in the shower room.

The military has nothing to do with it. Its an anachronistic and necessarily intensely hierachial world. Plebes have to put up with **** as part of a systemized campaign of terror designed to break them down, strip them of ego, and make them into perfect submissive little soldierettes who will do what they are told, no questions asked. And they only "have" to put up with it because it stands between them and something they want -- entrance to the military.

Rookies are already in the league, already professional basketball players, and beholden to neither Bobby Jackson nor any other vet. There is no necessary hierarchy here. This isn't Bobby's team. This isn't any veteran's team. In fact, if anything, its the kids' team. Their jobs in fact are to take those veteran's minutes and jobs, and send them careening off into retirement. And the last thing you want any of them to do is back down, do whatever they are told, and take abuse from somebody who could just as easily be on the other side of the ball 6 months from now. There is no chain of command based on years in the league. Bobby Jackson isn't his boss -- he's nothing but a coworker, and has less claim to legitimacy here than if your boss makes you pick up his laundry and then trashes your car if you fail to do so. Its classic hierarchal bullying, nothing more. Do you think LeBron James got his hummer filled with popcorn as a rook? He would have had Bobby's hide nailed to a tree outside the practice facility if he tried that. No, as always bullies pick on the weak ones. And every once in a while one of them realizes this is B.S. and fights back, and that's always a good sign.

The light hazing of carrying bags or bringing bagels is all in semi-good fun as long as you don't get abusive with it and you can have a tacit non-threatening agreement on that stuff. But once you cross the line (and yes it was Bobby who crossed the line) and start trashing someone's car -- well now we are squarely into don't dish it territory. If a stranger did that to you, you couold have them arrested.

Bobby is a Vet on the court period. And the rooks have to respect the Vets there (on the court). Off the court his Bobby and what goes around comes around.

People are seriously mad about this? Really? If Bobby doesn't want retaliation, don't dish it out. Have a little fun.

Hmmm...fun?

Kings are not just bad...they are historically bad. I don't think a team has finished with a winning % like we have in 5 years. Attendance is the worst in the league. The arena is the worst in the league. There is still a very real danger the team could leave the city. And this is the culture of our team?

Where is the pride here? No great player I can think of would ever put up with this BS on his team while they were performing this poorly. Sadly we have no leader, coach or player. Bobby is pathetic for pulling this crap and setting the tone. Donte should be in the gym shooting until his arms fall off to get into the rotation. Instead this is the national media attention we get. Pathetic.

And so now we're going to resort to extreme exaggeration to try and make a point?

Sorry, Brickie, but I totally and completely disagree - and always have - with you when it comes to posturing and macho BS. Bobby did NOT do anything that hasn't been done to a lot of rooks in the past. And he meant no malice from it. I think Donte's macho ego got the best of him and he was probably goaded into retaliating...

Regardless, nothing we say here is going to change what may happen in the future but I will still insist that Greene stepped over the line. And once again, I'll simply agree to disagree with those who think Donte was justified in escalating the situation out of some egocentric need to defend his manhood, or in this case his ride, which apparently is so sacrosanct as to be inviolate.

I hope this is a mere molehill that we, the fans, have elevated far beyond what it actually means to anyone not facing a computer screen and hypothesizing what the players should be feeling and or doing... They've got a lot bigger problems than rookie chores, pranks, etc.

There's nothing wrong with having a prank war. Just don't play a prank and then get mad when someone comes back. The good thing to do would be to just laugh it off, have a few jokes, and then maybe play another one later. Instead, he got his panties in a twist and got mad about it. Donte Greene probably thought it was going to be a nice joke, instead this happens. What a baby.

Also, keep in mind that Greene is a rookie with a tiny rookie contract (picked 28'th) while Bobby Jackson has had multiple solid contract and is worth millions. If anyone should have been complaining about their car getting messed up it was Greene, but he laughed it off. Same thing Bobby should have done.

Of course, it's pretty much all speculation that he's mad.

Why cant BJax get his own damn bagels and fruit. He's got more money than JT and Greene combined. Making them wear the pink bags is one thing, but trashing someones car cause they didnt bring you bagels is pretty stupid. Stop by dunkies on your way to practice .. 1.99 gets you a bagel and cream cheese :)

Is Bobby actually mad? link? cause I havent herd anything .. and if he's not mad then its over and if he is mad he is being childish.

According to Dahntay Jones, popcorn isn't as easy as you think it is to clean:

"The car smelled like popcorn for a month," Jones said. "You'd turn on the heat and little kernels would still come out."

Either way there are now two people with some really funky cars.

I'm not judging Donte' for retaliating because rookies talk about retaliating all the time. Could have done something more original, rather than finding some common household items to throw on Bobby's car.

"If you haven’t heard the news or seen the twitpics, my fellow rookie, Donté Greene, had his car popcorned. He tried to keep all his emotions in, which I couldn’t do when it happened to me! He actually ended up driving home with popcorn still in his car. I know he was upset and hopefully he learned his lesson, just like I did.
We both have different rookie duties. I have to bring two bags of cinnamon raisin bagels with jelly and butter. He has to bring fruit. Yesterday, he didn’t bring it. It’s just crazy he didn’t because he saw what happened to me, so I guess you can say he had it coming!
There’s a difference between his situation and mine. I’ve seen articles and blogs saying ‘JT didn’t bring the bagels,’ but they were there! I just didn’t bring them myself. I paid for them with my money, but just had somebody pick them up for me. I would’ve picked them up myself, but I was in a tricky situation that day. I had one more weight-lifting workout with our Strength and Conditioning Coach Daniel Shapiro. I could’ve left and picked the bagels up myself, but I would’ve gotten a big fine! I figured I could just kill two birds with one stone by getting someone to deliver the bagels while I got my lift in, but the vets still got me.
They expect things to be done a certain way and you may not know what they want all the time. They can be picky, but I guess that’s just life as a rookie. It cost me close to $200 to clean my ride. It took awhile because I had way more popcorn than Donté’s car. There was no way I could’ve driven away from the practice facility with my car filled like he did!"

Thank you! Unfortunately we seem to be in the minority on this issue. It's not that I don't think Donte's pranks and 10 minute tv shows aren't funny, it's just that that's not at all what I want to be seeing from my rookies. The only thing an act like this tells me is that Donte cares more about shameless self-promotion and defending his reputation than he does about improving his game or making it in the league. If I had even the smallest chance of playing in the NBA, I would do absolutely anything and everything I could to make sure it happened. So I don't want to see Donte driving a rascal around the supermarket, eating as much Carl's Jr. as he can in ten minutes, and smearing condiments on a car, I want to see Donte lifting weights and shooting jumpers until the gym closes. Of course the guy should be able to have a little fun in the process, but before he makes stupid decisions he should remember that despite his young age he is still a professional and a representative of Sacramento, and he should act like one. At least J.T. had a reasonable excuse for missing his duties, which indicated he actually cares about his job. Greene has shown me none of that so far.

And furthermore, if the Sacramento Bee had a capable sports writing staff they would have pointed out how inappropriate this action was rather than just poking fun at it in a blog. Do they realize that the Kings are the biggest laughingstock in nearly all of professional sports? Apparently not.

Apparently you don't remember pranks/practical jokes played, especially on rookies, by "the team" back when we had a sell out streak going. I think it was for Webber's birthday (?), but anyway, they made Songaila put on tights and a tutu, bring out the cake and sing and dance "Happy Birthday." Apparently Darius really got into it and I remember they said Doug was laughing so hard, he had tears running down his face and screamed, "I love this team!" That was a team with great chemistry. Yes, they were winning, but I think a team with no chemistry at all is the one who pulls no pranks. They don't care enough to bother.

I seriously can't believe I just wasted my time reading this thread. I have a little advice for both Bobby and Donte: GROW UP.

Vets haze rooks, rooks have to take it, Donte overreacted, Bobby had no right, blah blah blah blah. Who gives a flying rip.. is this really what our season has become? Who pranked who and who deserves what??

Spare me. We are already the laughing stock of the league. The last thing we need is this crap. If this is the story thats making headlines out of Sacramento ---> Seriously

Honestly, if no one knew we were discussing NBA Basketball - people would've thought we were discussing a couple of 4 year olds.:mad:

I thought it was leather pants and a collar.....but that's not the point

Lets not be too hard on Donte, he is still a teenager. Bobby or anybody else that hazes deserves what they get.

I see two rich players having some fun acting to put on a show. And some of us bought it and some of us seemed so dumb to even think of it as something serious - the prank is really on us.

Donte Greene $809,300 this year. Car filled with popcorn.

Big deal for some fans, but is it really a big deal for a player earning $809,300 a year?

Bobby Jackson $6,487,888 this year. Car exterior messed-up with food by the rookie ( Greene ) in retaliation.

Do we really think BJax would take this kind of joke seriously, especially coming from a teammate who probably got close to him, and especially when he earns $6,487,888 and can very well afford to hire 100 people at any given day to clean his car?

And so what who's the vet and who's the rookie... and blah, blah, blah. These guys don't really care about those things. They are rich!

I don't get it why some of us see the fun they are having as something serious.

Or, maybe I am being pranked on this forum? :p
