Kings get "7" national TV games for 2010-11 season... oh, really... since breakdown is 2 on TNT, 1 on ESPN and 4 on NBA-TV. This calls for a poll of Kingsfans regarding NBA-TV:

They have been playing "best games of 09-10' season lately. Sadly I have not seen "the comeback" vs. Chicago as one of the games yet. It really should be on there, I remember the night that game was on I turned it off. Good thing I DVR all the games so I got to see the comeback of all comebacks in it's entirety!

That game will be in my memory for a long time and it was like nothing else to experience live and in the moment, but I can see why they wouldn't show it. It was a pretty miserable game for about an entire half, if not even partially through the 3rd quarter. It took a lot of will power for me to not turn off the garbage, and then the improbable started happening late. The games that they tend to replay are generally good from start to finish, like the Lakers-Thunder series that I enjoyed watching over again (until game 6, anyway ).

I hung in on that game, plus I had it on the DVR for a few months. I have turned off a few Kings games in the last few years, especially in 08/09.

I don't do NBA TV.

Doesn't Comcast have it in it's digital premier lineup, I mean xfinity basic, or whatever confusing thing they want to call it today? If so, I have it, if not, I don't. Doesn't matter because I also have CSN.

Well, it mattered for the Vegas Summer League. But yeah, having CSN kind of nullifies it as far as watching Kings games goes.

I had it for the Summer League but since I only watch Kings games I have that on comcast so don't need NBA.com.

I picked other. I don't have it because it's not available on my current provider (U-verse). I switched from DirecTV in May and didn't realize it was absent until I tried to watch the Kings Summer league. I signed a 1 year contract so I'm stuck for now.

Interesting. Have a friend that just signed with U-verse. I wonder if he knows that.

As for me, even if I wanted to, I won't leave DirecTV unless someone else offers NFL Sunday Ticket. The only thing I don't like about them is their OnDemand programming isn't really on demand. You have to download the program to your DVR, and then wait until you have a sufficient amount of buffer. And that means that it takes space on your DVR. In comparison with true on demand programming, where you push a button and watch the show, it's subpar.

That's surprising, I would have thought they'd have it. It's on both satellites, Comcast, Time-Warner, Cox, Cablevision, and even Verizon FiOS. How many are left? AT&T and I guess Charter might be the only major providers without it.

For those in Roseville, does SureWest have it?

When we moved to San Antonio I switched from comcast to Time Warner....big mistake!! Time Warner is sooo *****y. But I have nbatv, and tmc is the only provider in my area that offers league pass. So I currently don't have a choice.

If that is the case, I guess I have it. Never use it though as I watch the Comcast channel on Dish for the Kings. So I guess I have it but it doesn't matter! ;)

I have DirectTV, and I don't have it. I can see the channel, but it's blacked out unless it's a free league pass trial period.

I have it through Dish Network. It comes with my package. I like watching it. During the Summer there is the summer league games and WNBA games.

You used to have to be on the Sports Package tier and last year they moved it to a lower tier, but I guess still not their basic tier. On Comcast, I think you get it free with the lowest digital package. I don't know about the other cable systems I listed, it probably varies what tier you have to be on short of buying League Pass.

According to its wikipedia page, NBA TV is available to 45 million viewers. I can't find the numbers for ESPN and TNT, but I would think they're closer to 200 million since they're almost universally available on basic tiers.

Since nobody in my household watches TV per se (they watch some shows over the Internet, but that's all), nbatv would cost me something like $500-$700 a year, since I'd have to pay for cable then, too.

Realistically speaking, somewhere around half of all Kings games clash with my work schedule. At that rate, I can watch all of my games at the corner sports bar, buy myself a pitcher of PBR every game, pay the tip, and still be saving money.

Unless the networks can come up with at least an hour a day of non-sports programming that interests any of my family, or unless I get a free truckload of beer for signing up, I will not be subscribing to nbatv.

Hmm, I haven't checked in a while, to be honest. Maybe I do get it now? I'll have to check when I get home tonight. I'm one step above the basic.

Yeah its part of the ESPNU NFL network addon to the basic package now. At least with Direct TV and I am pretty sure Dish Network also.

I only have rabbit ears. My games come from NBA LEague Pass Broadband. 7 national games on NBA League Pass means 7 games that will be blacked out.

It's even more stupid because 4 of those games on NBA TV are blocked out on NBA LEague Pass. I don't understand this since they are from the same parent company. *facepalm

I first got Direct TV and NBA League Pass Nov 1998 just after moving to Santa Cruz from Auburn. NBATV came along some time later. It's been our constant companion every season since and now down in San Diego area. We also got Ch-698 on Direct TV in Santa Cruz and watched games there occasionally. We get KINGS @ Lakers on local TV but not when at Clippers. Figures. Otherwise, down here, all Kings games except when at Clips.

Hey!

People with DirecTV, what is your monthly rate?

Pffff. After all the add-ons I've done, it's up there, but it varies depending on the time of year. During football season, with Sunday Ticket, it's about $160 (that includes Super Fan, HD, DVR, and three receivers). After that, it goes down to about $100. I usually don't have the premium movie channels because I just don't really watch them, but I've had them for the past six months for free. All good things must come to an end, though, and that's getting ready to happen.

They've actually got some great plans going on right now for new customers.

You know I moved August 2009 into my apartment my family and I live in (it's an apartment connected to my storage facility I manage) and there is no comcast here because there are no real aparments nearby (it would cost comcast $90,000 to set up connecctivity in this area). So I basically had no choice but to get satellite, luckily Direct TV was offering free NFL ticket and all premium movie channels free for six months, making it a no brained.

I am on the choice plus package which has the sweet channels and sports channels for $ 65.99 a month. But a previous poster is right, right now they are offering like $39.99 for a whole year for the best package, all movie channels for 6 months, and NFL ticket.

Direct tv is in cahoots with the NFL so they are great if you follow football closely.

I still miss my Comcast on demand though Supes, brings a tear to my eye, I am not even bothering with direct tv on demand, looks terrible.
