NBA Trade

Fresno King

Starter
I mentioned Telfair as a possible trade idea for the Kings, but the Celtics got him instead...

The Boston Celtics acquired second-year Portland Trail Blazers point guard Sebastian Telfair for the No. 7 pick in Wednesday's NBA draft, as well as one or two other players, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

The trade was agreed upon Wednesday afternoon but it came after the 2 p.m. ET deadline which means the Celtics will still be on the clock, selecting for the Blazers, when the No. 7 pick comes up during the draft.
Portland will pick at No. 4 and No. 7, barring any more trades.
One of the players from the Celtics could be injured point Dan Dickau (Achilles), but that wasn't confirmed as of Wednesday.

This doesn't seem to make much sense for the Celts since Telfair will likely be the backup. That and I'd think the last think Portland needs is more kids running around.

Apparently this could have some added pieces to it... reading some guy on a radio station, WEEI, talking about it being Telfair/Ratliff for #7/Dickau/LaFrentz.

But to the original...

I thought things were going nicely with West, but I guess not because he's more of a combo guard. I think Telfair can be something with time, he hasn't really gotten a good chance in Portland.

With young players here, time will tell who gets the better end of this. Regardless, Telfair will get consistent minutes, splitting them with West or vice versa. Because of the Celts being mainly a young team, and specifically at the PG spot.

Well getting rid of Dickau and LaFrentz would be nice for the Celts and it makes a lot more sense. I don't listen to Portland sports radio so can't say what they're saying here, if anything.

I'm shocked if they're really souring on West, I thought that's why they moved Banks. Make up your mind Danny.

No no, I know WEEI well. I just happen to live in Portland (pdx). I used to live in Boston though. They're my 2nd/3rd teams I guess. I'm still warming to the Blazers.

ESPN saying Ainge like Telfair as a starter. Jeebus. He might be worse than Pitino when he's done.

Well, they think West won't be a PG, and is more of a scoring guard/combo guard. Telfair has better PG potential, I'd think.

The problem is that earlier this year they traded away a young PG with potential because he was sold on West. Now he's not? He obviously has no clue what he's doing if he keeps changing his mind every 5 minutes.

That's a reasonable deal. Telfair having more upside than any PG in the draft, and the Blazers able to draft at some other position with the pick. Center?
