NBA stats worth noting...

Feel free to add to these:

Hedo Turkoglu (sounds familiar for some reason ) is averaging 15.7 points on 46% shooting from the field and 34% from outside... off the bench.

Steve Francis is averaging 8.1 rebounds per game (I won't mention that that's double Pedja's rebounding so far this season). Best rebounding point guard in the League right now.

Gary Payton is shooting 50% from the field, 42% from downtown, 91% from the line, and is responsible for close to 30 points of Boston's offense a game.

Allen Iverson is averaging almost 5 turnovers per game.

Andrei Kirilenko is averaging 5 blocks per game, 1st in the League.

Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Tim Duncan and Dwayne Wade are the 5 most efficient players in the NBA, respectively.

Keith van Horn is averaging over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Kenyon Martin is averaging about 13 and 6.

Golden State is last in the League in both field goal percentage (.377) and three point percentage (.255).

The Lakers are last in the League in assists (17.25). The Clippers are third (24.62).

Shaquille O'Neal is shooting 39.6% from the free throw line.

Here's another one for interesting.

Seattle became the first team in NBA history to shoot more 3's in a game the 2's the other night.

They were a combined 36-77 (47%) in FG shooting, going 18-38 in 2-pointers and 18-39 from three.

But hey, they're 8-1 so I guess it's working for them.

Seattle is 28th in assists pg. They are living by the jumpshot and threes, that won't last. New Orleans is second in assists pg with 25, the Lakers now 29th at 18 pg. The Lakers are 5-4, while N.O. is winless. I would still take K-Mart over that softie Van Horn. You can do what you want with stats.

Its too bad the old database was lost -- I believe i predicted something like that for Kenyon's numbers -- he'll get better (maybe 15 and 8?) but he is simply overrated as a PF. He has made a killing on the non-existent frontlines of the East with a run and gun PG who set him up perfectly and covered up his lack of half court offensive game. Now he's got to play against the big boys, and that huge contract is really going to look ridiculous in a few years.

Actually, I don't think Kenyon is playing that bad at all. He's not getting his fast break points (from Kidd) and Carmelo is taking like 70 shots per game. Camby is taking a lot of his rebounds, so 15 and 8 would be very solid. He's not a superstar, but he's definitely not a bad player either.

Carmelo Anthony - 24.79 (6th in the league) - 157 total attempts
Chris Webber - 25.04 (5th in the league) - 145 total attempts

Don't take this the wrong way though, it is in no way a knock on Webber. Carmelo is just drawing more attention because he's missing more of his shots. Just to make that clear:

FGM per 48 minutes

Chris Webber - 10.71 (14th in the league) - 62 total made
Carmelo Anthony - 9.16 (37th in the league) - 58 total made

While Carmelo leads his team in ppg, he has the 3rd lowest shooting percentage out of 13 guys who have played for Denver so far this year (only Nene and Tskitishvili are worse)

He is also averaging more fouls per game than any other player on the team, and has more turnovers per game (3.8) than everyone except for Nene, who has only played in one game and has four turnovers.

I'm sure he'll come around this season, but there's really no comparison between LeBron and Carmelo anymore, which is interesting since at this time last year some people thought Carmelo might have been the better of the two.

Kenyon Martin has never been a very good rebounder for a power forward. He's okay, but he relies too much on his athleticism and doesn't box out on a regular basis.
