NBA Point Guards 2003-2005

Kingster

Hall of Famer
2003:

Kirk Hinrich #7
T.J. Ford #8
Marcus Banks #13
Luke Ridnour #14
Barbosa #28

2004:

Sebastian Telfair
Jameer Nelson #20
Delonte West #24

2005:

Deron Williams #3
Chris Paul #4
Raymond Felton #5
Nate Robinson #21
Jarrett Jack #22

So leaving aside Williams, Paul, Barbosa, who might yet develop into a very good point guard, but hasn't yet, and might he be available for trade?

Several of those other guys already have developed into good young PGs themselves. Not greats, but good ones.

Guy I still like is Delonte West -- not a star, but a complete roleplaying do it all type who might be able to hold things together solidly in the presence of other stars. Thing is, Boston likes him too, and with the Telfair experiment officially over, I sincerely doubt they'd move West. Only if they were abruptly going to change directions and accept a Mike fro West/Ratliff type deal to win now + satisfy Pierce.

I think Jack might be a serviceable PG in the near future, and Felton is above-average. Banks might be a good backup and Ridnour can be decent in the right system. I agree with what was said about Robinson. He will be out of the league once his quickness goes south.

The only ones really available would be Ridnour and Banks. Ridnour being benched and unhappy in SEA and Banks wasting space between Nash and Barbosa. So no thanks on either.

The only one I would want to see in a Kings uniform is Felton, and he is the PG of the future in CHA.

anybody who can drop 37 in a game does not belong in AND1.

Let's put together a nice AND1 roster.

Jason Hart: 19/4/12, 2 TO, 3 STL (11/10/04)
Rafer Alston: 29/3/8, 1 TO (1/17/07)
Kenny Thomas: 32/14/1, 1 TO (4/10/05)
Jerome James: 17/15/1, 1 TO, 1 ST, 5 BLK (4/23/2005)
Darius Miles: 47/12/0, 1 TO, 4 STL, 5 BLK (4/19/05)
Eddie Griffin: 27/11/4, 1 TO, 1 STL, 1 BLK (12/08/04)
Kelvin Cato: 21/15/2, 3 BLK (4/1/99)

Heck, even Potapenko, Ostertag and Cherokee Parks hit or surpassed the 25 point mark before.

And there were lots of good candidates who recently retired.

Isiah Rider, career high 42. Bryant Reeves, 41. Sam Perkins, 45. Brian Stith, 37. Michael Dickerson, 40. And who can forget Tony Delk's 53? They may not all be AND1 material, but they were a long way from being all-stars.

Having one outstanding game is good, but there's something to be said for consistency.

I like West too, if only because he eats Bibby for lunch every time they play against each other. They are so desperate to win that it doesn't seem too unrealistic to think they might think about Bibby.

Please explain "and1 league." I don't know this newfangled lingo.:)

That arose out of a game thread, I believe the original victim was Rafer Alston during the game of April 8th, who was shooting 20%.

"AND 1" is a bunch of streetballers, which Alston has played a role in: http://www.and1.com/

The basic idea was that some people should have stuck to street ball.

Thanks for the education. Well, I included every point guard drafted in the first round for those 3 years, so I think it's appropriate to keep him in.

i didnt mean anything by taking him off, i was just taking a shot at nate because i dont believe his attitude belongs in the nba. i like his toughness, but he tries to be a thug, and at 5'10, its not really working. the and1 shot was because at and1 they can score in flashy ways, and are crowd pleasers, but not much in the form of defense/fundamentals.
