NBA Draft starting time?

I know the draft starts at 7PM EST but that's when they start the broadcast. Does anybody know how long it typically takes for them to get the picks started? I'm just wondering how soon I need to leave work to get home by the time Wall's name is called.

On lotto night it was 20 mins of talking and 10 mins of the real lotto. I just don't want to leave work early and realize the picks don't even start until 7:30 EST.

The draft officially starts at 7:30 EST. So that's when the Wizards 10 minute clock will start. So John Wall's name will get called at like 7:40 EST

Edit: Ignore this post... my memory was bad.

That's wierd since they have a pre-draft show on ESPN at 6:30 east coast time. Why would they have a 30 minute pre-draft special, then 30 more minutes of nothing happening on their regular draft telecast?

It is weird, but basically they have a +pre-draft show" and then the draft show starts at 7 PM EDT. Probably different format and people discussing the draft.

Actually, maybe I was wrong. The draft preview show looks like it starts at 7 and the actual draft show starts at 7:30 according to http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide. So never mind.

Oskor, it looks like the actual draft show starts at 7:30 eastern, 4:30 pacific, so you can probably wait until then to get home.

I actually thought the draft starts at 5:00p.m. PST.
We're actually in daylight time now, so it's 4:30pm PDT (with the pre-draft show at 4:00 PDT).

I don't know if that's the confusion or not... but according to the ESPN listings I linked that's the schedule.

Got this at ESPN360.com for the on-line live streaming.(EST)

07:00 PM BASKETBALL NBA NBA Draft Preview
07:30 PM BASKETBALL NBA 2010 NBA Draft

Well, what I read before was the broadcast starts at 7 PM EDT (4 PM PDT), so I thought maybe you'd seen something different.

ESPN3 will have live streaming video coverage, too, starting at the same time.

I set my DVR to record it and I'll watch when I get home, so that's why I didn't pay much attention to the time. :o

One good thing about this thread is that I now know that daylight time is in the summer and standard time is in the winter. I was always too lazy to look that up before. :p

And there is a time converter page here for those outside US Eastern Daylight Time. It automatically adjusts for the daylight time.

For example, when its 7 PM in NY, it will be 2 AM in Israel. ;)

Hasn't it always been a 5 minute clock between first round picks? 10 minutes times 30 picks would make the broadcast 5 hours long.
