[NBA] Comments that Don't Warrant Their Own Thread (Playoffs?)

Bosh outclutched Dirk this game.... What a shame.

Reffing was horrible in the end though. Heat really should have won this one by at least 5.

Series isnt over yet, but its looking grim for the Mavs. Besides their choke job in game 2, the Heat have looked in control throughout this entire slugfest of a series. If LeBron pulls his head out of his *** it is over.

This is pretty much how I see it too.

Which is unfortunate and kind of funny for me. I find myself in an interesting position. During "The Decision" I was somewhat indifferent. I really had no vested interest in which team BronBron went to (unless it was the Kings or any of our "rivals," of course). Now, I find myself complaining more and more the closer BronBron gets to a ring.

Although, I am taking a sick satisfaction in watching him defer to Wade. LeBron has shown his colors and I think that is obvious to the world. However much I dislike Kobe or Jordan (I was a Suns fan back in the Majerle/Johnson/Barkley days) at least they had the balls to take the lead. I'm glad LeBron isn't getting that type of notoriety.

NBA Finals: Dallas vs. Miami

Who do you route for to win it all?

Bibby as an ex-Kings with the Heat and Peja with the Mavs. Really happy that Bibby is contributing and hitting his 3's! but Peja's been a handicap to the Mavs, everytime he's in the Heat attack him a lot and has not hit his open 3s.

I love basketball, play it regularly and love watching anything on TV that has basketball (well not so much WNBA though) so even if the Kings are out I still a follow alot the games.

I'm picking Dallas, as i usually pick the underdogs if Kings are not playing. Plus, there is something about the big 3 (Dwade,James and Bosh) that i don't want them to win it all this year. Forming the superteam and win it the same year.

Bibby needs to retire. I don't know what finals or playoffs you've been watching but bibby is playing horrible. Peja looks like crap too. I guess that's what a weak lakers defense will do to a player like Peja; make him look good.

How does Peja deserve a ring? Since leaving the Kings in 2006(?) he's done about as much for an NBA team as I have

Being a Kings fan I feel that every player of the team that got robbed in the 2002 conference finals deserves a ring. Bibby too, but just like everyone I hate how this Miami team has been assembled so I root for the Mavs.

How many individual players in NBA history have been to The Finals 3+ times without at least one ring? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Big E, Mailman and (most likely) Kidd; are there any others?

Okay, so after conferring with the members of the wrestling message board I post at, my list is up to:

Elgin Baylor (Lakers)
Karl Malone (Jazz, Lakers)
Sam Perkins (Lakers, Supersonics, Pacers)
Bryon Russell (Jazz, Lakers)
Jason Kidd (Nets, Mavericks)
Eric Snow (Supersonics, Seventy-sixers, Cavaliers)

Did I leave anyone out?

Miami does not know how to attack a zone defense very effectively. Seriously, they seem to go into an offensive funk every time Dallas throws it up, especially late in games. They still might win this series now tied 2-2 but if they lose their fumbling and confusion against the Mavs zone may be a big reason. Maybe Heat should read this: http://www.hoopskills.com/scoring-against-the-zone.html

This is an ugly series. The games are not really entertaining up until it gets really close late.

Lebron, I don't know what to say to you man. It's better to choke your brains out than to not even try. I mean, wtf is wrong with you?

He tried in game 2, and lost the game for Miami. I think hes trying his best, hes just not as good as Wade when it comes to leading this Miami Heat team.

Im not gonna lie and say i can recall vividly how Lebron was playing in the chicago series. As far as this series goes, i think the Heat knows that if they want to have a real chance at getting this championship, then its going to have be with Wade leading the team. Lebrons having trouble executing it seems especially down the stretch when the pressure is up and he has the ball in his hands. Wade on the other hand seems totally comfortable with running the offense. We saw how quickly things went downhill in game 2, and a lot of that had to do with Lebron taking over the offense down the stretch and not having the ability to execute plays.

See that's the thing though, when wade has the ball in his hands he has the built and the game to score a lot easier than lebron. But he doesn't really run the offense as good.

I do think that in this series, Wade definitely has the mismatch against the Mavs, as Lebron is being guarded respectably well by Marion. I think the skills difference really plays a difference between Wade and Lebron. There were several times in tonights game where Lebron was posting up on a player smaller than him, and he wasnt able to take advantage and ended up passing out. I think even Lebron is counting on Wade to pull the team through. At the same time, theres only 1 ball to go around, and if Wade is playing at his 100% then Lebron is bound to get fewer touches, and from what ive seen Lebrons' off the ball play isnt that great, whereas Wade can play off the ball fairly well. May be why it doesnt seem like Lebron's that effective when Wade is dominating the ball.

This is what I was posting about the other night, Wade got on LeBron about him being so passive during the third game:

"Perhaps nothing illustrated the dramatic transformations within the dynamic as Wade letting loose with a brief, blasting bark at James late in the fourth for dropping off a pass to Mario Chalmers(notes). Wade wanted James, so reluctant, to take the ball to the rim himself. No one has ever talked to King James like this on the floor, ever challenged him in such public and piercing ways"

James backed Wade, insisting: “At this point, there’s no room to hold anything back. As a competitor, you love when guys challenge you.”

Also when asked whether if he was shrinking in the clutch:

“I think you’re concentrating on one side of the floor,” James sniffed. “All you’re looking at is the stat sheet. Honestly, I’m a two-way player. Since D-Wade had it going … we allow him to handle the ball, bring it on offensively. You should watch the film again and see what I did defensively. You’ll ask me a better question tomorrow.”
He seems fine with his Pippen/Kidd role.

Game four was awesome to watch. But I still feel Dallas is in trouble. LeBron didn't do much last game and they still only lost by three points. If all he does is score in the 20's with Wade this series is over in six. Dallas isn't helping themselves by missing makeable, open shots. Those shots they missed this series better be dropping sometime soon here.

dallas is making too many turnovers and lack of execution. miami is thriving off their turnovers. dunks, layups

Miami and Dallas are not very far off in turnover totals for the series through four games. The biggest turnover difference was game two with Dallas having 18 to Miami 12 - yet Mavs won when Heat blew the game late. In game four, Miami again crumbled in crunch time with a bunch of late TOs and poor execution. Heat ended up with two more turnovers than Mavs for that game. Total TOs for series: Dallas 53 (13.25 ave.) Miami 46 (11.50 ave.).

Yes, Miami gets their share of run-out dunks and layups but Dallas gets their own transition opportunities when Miami is slow to get back - which is suprisingly often. I think Miami are the ones that needs to work on offensive execution as they've yet to overcome Mavs pressure and zone D looks late. That being said, if Miami wins tonight obviously they become overwhelming favorite for the title.

I'd like to see Dallas clamp down a little earlier so they aren't entering the final 8 minutes down. Until they do that they can keep winning games decided at the buzzer but I will still give the series edge to Miami until they are sizing the rings.
