Miami trades Daequan Cook and #18 for #32. They seem to be swinging for the fences with this free agent crop. I predict they re-sign Wade and sign Boozer, with another decent signing thrown in there somewhere

Great move for the Thunder if they can pull it off. Grabbing Aldrich or Davis at 10 would really improve their front court.
 
Internal power struggle, this has been in the works for several months. He was expected to be fired immediately after the draft, the only surprise is making it official before the draft. Who will he draft now? The fat kid from Teen Wolf?

Yep. Playoffs two years in a row after a ground-up rebuild, tons of injuries, trades to keep the team competitive... The Blazers are nowhere without Pritchard. I hope we can stash him away somewhere in our organization, but I'm sure there's 20 teams already looking for ways to grab him. Paul Allen is an idiot.

This story represents everything that is wrong with the NBA today - guys like Joe Johnson getting max deals from teams. Can anyone honestly tell me that the Knicks won't totally regret signing him to a max deal just a year from now? If Joe Johnson is the best player on your team, you'll be unhappily stuck at 40 wins a year AND have all your cap space taken, which is a formual for long-term suckitude.
 
Good luck trying to defend Pau Gasol or Andrew Bynum with Rasheed Wallace. He had some moments in the ECF and the Finals, but all in all, he was a huge disappointment for the Celtics and their fans. Just read a Bill Simmons column, he'll tell you.

Well, it appears that New Jersey wasn't so high on Yi, and after they picked up Favors they felt he was expendable. Still, this leaves them REALLY thin on the front line (Lopez, Favors...Damion James???...resign Josh Boone???) so I suppose they'll have to go after a couple of free agents. There was a lot of buzz around draft time that picking Favors would eliminate their chances of bringing in an Amare/Boozer-type guy, but at this point I think they'll have to go after somebody of that ilk.
 
I think this is a cost cutting move if nothing else. Man, Miami, Chicago and now New Jersey better hope to land at least 1 big name, because they're burning assets
 
You and I have different working definitions of the word "nice." From my perspective, the Wizards are taking a whole bunch of jacked up contracts from all the teams that have been trying to clear cap space to sign LeBron James.

I stopped reading after the spoilered paragraph. Greatness is defined by rings, not stat padding. Kobe is better than Lebron - right now. Not saying that I like either dude, but James HAS to propel his team to multiple rings before he enters the discussion. Scathing speculation proves nothing, and is a loser's go to move.

I'm confused.

Kobe plays on a more talented team than LBJ. That's a fact.
The Celtics beat the Cavs in the playoffs because the Celtics had four of the five best players on the floor. LeBron was the best player on the floor, but just because he couldn't overcome the fact that the Celtics had the next best four, doesn't diminish how good of a player he.

Kobe would of had 0 chance to win a ring if he was on the Cavs roster the last 3 years. That is just as true a statement as saying Kobe would of had 0 chance to win a ring if he was on the Kings roster the last 3 years. It's not speculation, it's just recognizing the reality of the situation. That Cavs roster is just not built to win a championship, and I will be very, very surprised if they make the playoffs next year.

What you term as 'scathing speculation' seems to me to be a reasonable understanding of how NBA basketball works. You can ignore the reality of the situation if you want, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Measuring greatness by Championships is one way to go about it, but I don't consider it the sole defining aspect. Some players are just fortunate to be put on the right team at the right time. Kobe was lucky to have Shaq on his team to allow him to win 3 championships early in his career. So is Kobe a 'greater' player than LBJ because he had Shaq while LBJ had Zydrunas Ilgauskas? Sorry, that just doesn't make much sense to me.

Wilt Chamberlain only won 2 championships. He's still arguably considered the greatest big-man to play the game.
DJ Mbenga has 2 titles as well, would you define his greatness equal to that of Wilt?
"Stat Padding" as you put it does need to have some relevance when discussing the 'greatness' of a player.
If 'stat padding' wasn't part of the equation then people wouldn't feel the way they do about Wilt.
 
I'm not really feeling up to this, I apologize, the dude just made me mad. Believe what I believe (greatness requires multiple rings), and read what he wrote, then you'll see why I'm disappointed with his "story".
