and while i'm certainly rooting for mclemore to succeed as a king, i feel that the new regime reached for a shooter at #7 in 2013 with their selection of ben mclemore
I think it's really hard to call the selection of McLemore a "reach". While I was never high on him in college, he was consistently top-2 on all the draft boards basically all season long. Part of the reason that he fell was that most of the teams in front of us had reasons NOT to take him:

Cleveland (just drafted Waiters at SG top-5)
Orlando (took the better defender Oladipo at SG)
Washington (just drafted Beal at SG top-5)
Charlotte (had Ben Gordon at SG, desperately needed a scorer in the post)
Phoenix (picked a top-3 injured guy #tankingforwiggins)
Philadelphia (picked a top-3 injured guy #tankingforwiggins)

I'd say the Kings opted for a shooter, sure. And you can like that or not as you wish. But "reached" is probably the wrong word.

well, to be fair, i didn't say "the kings reached to pick mclemore." the language of my post was "i feel that the new regime reached..." as in, it is my opinion that the kings reached to pick mclemore. it was clearly not the new regime's opinion. it may not even have represented the opinions of most professional mock draft boards at the time. but I simply do not value shooters all that highly.

Watching the Warriors @ Timberwolves, I'm realizing that I'm rapidly developing a real dislike for the Warriors. ;)

This NOP/MEM game has slowed to a crawl: four timeouts in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter.

But, at least they've got that cool numerology thing happening, I guess.

Memphis is going to disappoint big time this year. They have no legit offensive weapons. They solely rely on their size and grit to win them games, it can only take them so far. They need to head into a rebuilding mode in my opinion because they are currently in "no man's land" according to NBA standards.

One more thing, I agree with the poster above mentioning Orlando's team. I watched that game in spurts and that Nikola Vucevic kid sure looks legit, don't he? Orlando is showing how you rebuild with a lot of solid future prospects moving forward and using a few to net you a superstar player, which I'm sure they will get after the 2014 draft.

Pretty scary that we put a lot of emphasis on that opening win at home with Denver when Denver is looking terrible themselves - 0-3, losing at home to the Hawks so far. If the Nuggets are bad, and we barely beat them at home, could be a long season

I loved Tyreke as much as the next guy but boy howdy the fit between him and New Orleans is like me trying to a foot into a glove to this point. Only seven minutes off the bench tonight and benched for the majority of the second half in favor of Austin Rivers and Anthony Morrow off the bench. It's not as if Gordon and Holiday were setting the world on fire tonight either against a smaller backcourt of the sorts that Reke used to feast on.

It was an odd signing by them. Jrue Holliday, Eric Gordon, Austin Rivers, and Tyreke? A shame really.

He re-aggravated his ankle injury. Btw for what it's worth Pelicans fans are pretty much saying the exact same thing about Monty Williams that we did about Keith Smart. You change the name in their forum posts and you would have thought you were reading our posts from a year ago.

Looks like we're not the only ones with problems:

FOR KNICKS, A SLOW START AND A BAD ENDING

As fans began drifting to the exits, many of those who stayed — a mix of masochists and die-hards — did so purely for the chance to voice their displeasure.

Over the next hour, as the Knicks began the slow, painful post-mortem of Sunday’s 120-89 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Coach Mike Woodson questioned his team’s pride. Carmelo Anthony used the word “embarrassing.” Metta World Peace hinted at conflicts that needed resolution...

don't forget Brian Roberts, who's a better player than Rivers, at this point.

and now for something completely different, this is ridiculous: http://www.nba.com/video/channels/originals/2013/11/11/love-outlets-to-brewer.nba

Brewer's releasing was already annoying when he was with Denver, but combine that dude with Love's outlet passing and it's getting really tough to stop. our old friend K-Mart profits a ton from this, too.

Continuing on the Larry Sanders saga, he's now out for 6 weeks after having surgery on the thumb he injured in the aforementioned bar fight. This comes only two months after the Bucks gave him a 44 million dollar extension as the centerpiece of their defensive-minded squad. What a freaking mess.

don't forget that he's also already clashed with his new headcoach about minutes. couldn't have gone much worse for him so far.

And in other news our good ol' friend Spencer Hawes is averaging 15.6/10.4/3.1/1.9blocks shooting 54% from the field. Not too "soggy" a performance thus far!

Wow Love's passing is a thing of beauty!

watching the Clippers in the third quarter vs. Minny made me extremely angry. felt guilty and very dirty back in the first game, when I found myself at times rooting for the Lakers (*retch*), but no more. **** the Clippers, seriously! may they never leave the first round of the playoffs ever again. dirty bunch of flopping divas.

on the other end of the spectrum: what the Indiana Pacers are currently doing is just marvellous. great, great defense, really good offense, too, and now they have a bench as well? Scola has been huge all season, Watson is a much more stable player than Augustin, Mahinmi is solidly doing his job, they're getting actual contributions from guys like Orlando Johnson and Solomon Hill, and at some point Granger will return, too. scary. moreover, that team seems to really be enjoying playing with each other, they have a really funny, likeable dude in Roy Hibbert (great twitter follow) and a very good coaching staff+management. if there's one team deserving of being the NBA darlings, it's them.

Glad I'll be going to Indiana then :p

Yeah, I really like their time as well. Granger, Hill, Watson, and Hibbert are all good dudes who know how to play within a team concept. I hope they win the east this season
