Nazr Mohammed on the block

I really think that the Kings should trade him for Corliss b/c the guy has what we need, SIZE and he is a good defender.

Sure, he has what we need. But isn't the answer himself, and our problems go much deeper than a defensive roleplayer. If this were 2002 and we were one Keon Clark away from a championship? Sure. But at this point I'd rather keep Corliss' expiring deal, and see if we can get a young stud defender in the draft.

Fundamentally uninterested at this point. Nazr is the sort of middling space eater that you can get to add an extra piece to a good team. But his age/contract/talent doesn't make much sense for a potentially rebuilding team with the holes we have. He wouldn't patch the hole, he'd fall right in.

if they could do it for thomas then sure... but for corliss? no.... keep the expiring contracts....

It was for KT - yes - just for the size upgrade. Otherwise he's just a decent rebounder for his size and really doesn't block many shots.

Agree. Also, Pistons are apparently looking for a perimeter guy like Jaric, who can back up multiple positions.

Was just thinking, how would people feel about trading Salmons for Nazr. Nazr has a slightly bigger contract, though both run for the same duration (till 2010, with ETO for 2010). Salmons has played well so far, but our front court is where we need to fill in. Plus, this opens up more minutes for Cisco, Douby and Price, whom we need to develop.

I wouldn't say we need to fill in our front court, we just need some talent there. Is he going to set himself that much above Taylor, Corliss, Thomas and Shareef to even get minutes? Salmons is a player that is playing well for us, I wouldn't get rid of him to throw another mediocre big into the mix.

Here are his stats for the season compared to our guys (from ESPN web site)

Corliss

KT

From the above, he is shooting 56% from the field (Corliss comes closest at 53%), grabbing 11.4 rebounds per 40 minutes (virtually identical to our leader Kenny), and over 1 block in just under 19 minutes. Plus he is 6-10, 250lb, and younger than all the guys above.

On the downside, he fouls too much (3.03 in under 19 minutes, probably explaining low minutes).

I too am not certain if this trade makes sense. To begin with, if we get him, we have to certainly offload some of our "bigs". Already, KT is not getting much time (more pouting and tougher to trade him), and we would all like to see more time for JW. Plus, the contract is fairly long. Though Salmons has an equally long contract, it is slightly lower, plus he is younger and playing well. Also, if Cisco in particular does not come along, and Ron becomes a headache, we shall need Salmons a lot for the next few years.

Just threw it out for feedback. If Petrie is planning to (and manages to) trade some of our bigs for enders and picks, Nazr might be a decent vet to have as we develop our kids.

you sholdnt even compare nazr's current season
if anything take the years when he actually got respectable minutes and when injuries didnt plague him
