it's like having the tv on at home. you're not really watching it, but it's there for the background noise.

speaking of noise, if mike lamb really reads these forums...... please don't get so close to the mic when you're by yourself. i can hear that throaty nasally breathing. it's astonishing how the mic picks up those sounds, but i submit to you that .... and it's analagous to nails on a chalkboard.... and...... when ..... you come on the air..... please.... don't ramble on ....when a ..... short answer.... will.....suffice.

You know whats funny about Lamb... On the radio I cannot even listen to him, I haven't listened to 1140 between 4- whatever for a long time almost because of Lamb. I don't like radio grant but I can listen to him, lamb just doesn't fit with Grant on the show...

I will say Lambs CSNW show is not that bad at all.

Personally I like KHTK with Grant and Mike. Grant is a guy who says it like it is. Mike walks the fence a little more and he tends to ramble by addressing topics from all angles before actually offering an opinion, but these guys are fun to listen to IMO. I used to live in the Midwest, and the Minneapolis show is the only one more entertaining than Napear's. Remember that interview way back when Barbara Walters asked Marv Albert if he was wearing women's clothing? The Minneapolis radio show would play that soundbyte ("Are you wearing women's clothing?") right before Vikings coach Mike Tice would answer any and every question. And they did it every week. Hilarious. The team actually permanently rescheduled its press conference to 7 p.m. after this radio show was over!

But Grant, while overly opinionated, seems to be well-educated and up to date on about everything.

I don't try and argue perosnal opinions just had to toss out a smart A comment from that quote above...

Grant is well educated? You mean like this mega deal involving 100 teams and 500 players. Or was it the educated part 2 days ago, "the bonzi situation will be cleared up in 48 hrs"

LOL not bag'n on u Gspan just grant..

"radio" Grant Napear has never bothered me...he has opinions, he yells at stupid callers...eh, no biggie. It's sports talk radio.

Mike Lamb is staight out of Howard Cosell's nightmare of a dumb jock in the booth. I can handle him as a counterpoint to Grant when they're together, but Mike Lamb by himself is flat out unbearable...often I'll switch over to KNBR and listen to their non-stop Giants.

Grant has next to zero radio show talent. He can call a game(though he gets repeatitive), but as an entertainer he's horrid. No humor, just stone dry sports. I feel sorry for the people they stick with him, because they always have to hold back or play some sort of fragmented roleplay of themselves. I imagine Lamb is more entertaining on his own, but with Grant you have to play off of him and the problem is YOU CAN'T play off of him.

Typical afternoon drive segment:
Grant says something, other person makes a joke, crickets start chirping, other person has to explain the joke, Grant replies with something like "oh well I don't watch that channel." Other guy mumbles through the awkward moment, Grant starts repeating something about Barry Bonds for the tenth time that day, nobody knows why he is saying it again.

The only time Grant is enternaining is when he does something screwy unintentionally. You laugh at the fact he has absolutely no clue about something very common, but then he carries on forever on something mind numbing so you turn off the radio.

Kozimor was like the exact opposite of Grant, ****ty game announcer, but actually entertaining on the radio.

And Grant doesn't tell it like it is. He tells it like Maloofs Sports & Entertainment tells him to tell it. He tells it like any other parroting sports media bum does. He has a job and ratings because the Kings are that big of a draw locally.

Okay, I'm done.
Unlike the Bonzi deal.

PS: Are we going to sign any free agents that have played in the NBA before?

When Grant goes into his fits of rage he always says some unintentionally hilarious stuff. He thinks he's really putting the burn on someone, but the stuff he says when he's angry is just ridiculous nonsense. One time he told someone to look in the toilet for their brain.

Hah, totally correct.

He's at his most interesting when he's in one of those near incoherent rages he goes into.

Otherwise, he's dull as dishwater and his sweetly retarded cohort lamb isn't any better.

about grant - have you noticed that he doesn't know the names of players other than the kings, old school ny giants, and yankees.

he stumbles and stammers over non kings sports talk. maybe he should just be a seasonal employee of khtk. the nba season that is. he comes in on halloween dressed in costume - oh wait - that's not a costume. after the finals are over he's off until july 1st when free agency begins. don't bring him in for the draft because he admitted he doesn't follow college b-ball. yeah i know working 82+ nights a year for the kings plus prep time and being a family guy doesn't leave much time to catch up on sports on the internet - unless he's on philly.com looking for more articles that are ripping webber.

and to blast some fellow employee who lost 60 cents in the candy machine. come on grant - it might've been someone who doesn't have a fat contract with two employers and a wife who works for american airlines that lets them travel for free to go to yankee games and ny giants games because they're a season ticket holder.

and when lamb says people who meet him ask about the kings moving .... please.... forget that .... i would ask why he rambles on and on, overuses the phrase "i submit to you", words such as "analagous" and "astonished" and what's up with that nasally throaty sound you make on the mic.

Well PNUTS I disagree there.

We can all bag on Grant and it's fun but I think he does know his sports. He is just a complete Ahole on the radio thats all.

I will say again for the 100th time so call me a repeater. I think NBA announcer Grant is great. Not a fan of Radio Grant. Which one do you think makes more money for him?

he can come across as an Ahole on the radio, but sometimes i'm glad he cuts people off or else it would be an endless rambling of callers who can't make a point in less than 3 minutes. we already have lamb to fill that spot.

i'm not sure what makes him more money but i'm sure he's living ok.

i think grant knows his sports too, but it's the players involved in those sports that i feel he falls a bit short unless it's a team he follows or it's nba basketball.

I thank Grant each time he goes off on stupid people, or cuts them off.

Otherwise, it would be like Koz's show, which I haven't listened to in a long time. He might of changed, but he is too nice and lets callers ramble about who knows what on his show.

Carmichael Dave and Frank Redd are the best KHTK hosts.

Mike Lamb's laugh is annoying, and he loves to do those .. Should the Kings resign Bonzi? Yes. Should they give him a five year deal at 45 million? No. Will he stay a Sacramento King? Maybe.

However, I like his football knowledge. It's better than hearing about the Football Giants all the time.

Well, you know I agree with you but...

I've seen other hosts handle it a lot better than Grant does. He just comes off an a short tempered jerk rather than a guy who's really in charge of his show.

He might of changed, but he is too nice and lets callers ramble about who knows what on his show.
Yeah, I agree. Koz is a "kinder/gentler" sort, but he does need to crack down more often on the more long winded folks.

Mike Lamb's laugh is annoying, and he loves to do those ..
Everything about that guy is annoying. I rue the day the ever brought him aboard.
