My take on Jimmer...

I think Jimmer must be killing it in practice. Why would the coaches go to him at critical times and consistently put him in the games? He must shoot lights out and distribute really well in practice. Also his teammates are aware of his shooting ability because Thornton and Evans never pass him the ball.

In the games he is completely ignored by his teammates. Not only do they not pass him the ball, but they never talk to him, they never look his way, nor do they ever try to give him a high five. Jimmer instigates a high five whenever they do something well. Have you ever seen a teammate give Jimmer a high five after he hit a shot! Never.

Jimmer is not dumb! He knows he is hated by his teammates. That has to be a tough environment to play in. Yet the coaches keep going back to him time and time again. They see something in him that they really like. Coaches don't play rookies just for fun.

I have watched Jimmer play every single game of his career. He is not a bench player. Once he finds his role watch out, because he will dazzle and amaze. There is a reason it was called Jimmermania!

Look. Jimmer has already shown that he belongs in the NBA. He's hasn't really demonstrated his shot, and his shot selection has been shy or a bit off. His passing vision is good, like Toyota Camry good. He'll have a long successful career, but I doubt he'll be starting this year.

I've always liked Thorton as a sixth man and it would be great if Jimmer could eventually be our starting PG, but I don't see that happening this year.

Anyone relentlessly bashing his play this year is just trying to get a rise out of Jimmer fans.

Go away if your going to spout garbage about Jimmers teammates hating him. Its so funny how a huge portion of people think he is a huge bust and a mistake to draft him, and then another segment who think the Kings are holding him back from super-stardom. He's a rookie and has been thrown into a huge role on a team without any offensive system (until now) and almost no time to practice with his teammates. And he's playing good considering that.

All I'm going to say is that he needs to find his shot. If he isn't shooting .400 + from 3 we can easily get a better player to take his minutes. We actually had one, his name was Beno Udrih, but whatever.

If he can give us what Beno gave us as a leader, a guy who can settle the rest of the team down, and find the open man WITH the ability to shoot the lights out from 3 then I'll be happy to have him here. But until he starts shooting like I know he can shoot, he isn't giving us much.

can i just state the elephant in the room when it comes to jimmer and lack of chemistry with the rest of the team? and im latino so no racism inteded.

hes the only white player on the team. and a introverted one its seems at that. while im sure hes not lonely out there, im also sure the rest of the team has much more in common with eachother than a mormon who is engaged and probably doesn't go out with the boys to chase women. usually on most teams, you see the white players bond with eachother, and black players the same, just stating a social reality. hopefully jimmer finds himself with his teammates, because when he puts it together he will be a big weapon for us.

We welcome Jimmer Fans, but you have to keep in mind that this website is KINGS fan website, so we are going to want whats best for the KINGS.

I honestly have been disappointed with Jimmer so far. He can't play defense and not really a PG, but we knew that coming in so I'm not going to hold that against him. We brought him here to SHOOT, and so far he hasn't provided that. He was supposed to keep teams from packing the middle against Tyreke and Cousins. Shooting only 32% from 3pt. Missing open shots. The offense have been horrid, and he hasn't had much plays ran for him. But he really should be hitting those OPEN shots. I know we're only a few games into the season, so I'm going to hold judgement on Jimmer and give him a chance.

Holy Moly.

What BS.

There's no bigger fan of Jimmer than I'am. But can we have a little common sense here. He's a rookie, and he's going to go through all the things that rookies go through. I'm not worried about his shot. I've seen him shoot the ball enough to know thats not a worry. Plus, I might add that there are a lot of other players not hitting shots right now as well. But learning how to play in the NBA takes time, and its easier to shoot the ball when you don't have to think about everything else you have to do. As far as his teammates hating him. Thats just crap! That and his personal religon should not be a part of this conversation.

We traded down. We didn't do the trade to get Jimmer. Could have had him at 7.

Webber and Bibby! Vlade and Webber! etc...

Discuss!

I think people are too harsh on jimmer. How many game had he played in the NBA? How much can he developed with a shorten season? How much can he learn with a team where even the veterans are confused? I'm just saying, I wouldn't go any further than that we need to give him a little more time before we can evaluate him fairly.

Oh Peja's rookie year was horrible as well . I'm not comparing the two but just pointing out that we should give Jimmer time.

no summer league, lockout condensed season. no plays and development these are the reasons why the rookies continue to struggle.. im betting his shooting goes up post allstar break, His D will get better soon as he stops roaming away from his man... though I am pleased he did not mess up in the 4th Q and he was there during that stint. against the bucks.

I will wait until the end of NEXT season before I start giving any kind of bust-talk.

He has shown that he can hit 3's with people in his face. Shooting percentages around the league are down right now.

The quote from Smart on last nights comeback was something to the effect of I left Jimmer on the court a little longer than normal because I needed our best distributor on the court.

It's Jimmer gosh darn it! SHOOTER SUPREME FROM OUTTERSPACE..... dude can play and when he falls into place in the system then it'll all come together.

Good grief, player homers can be unbearable at times. I have seen nothing at all that indicates anyone in the entire Kings organization hates Jimmer, including his teammates. If you watch interviews with Jimmer, he is most definitely not an introvert. He's sounds sensible, level-headed and quite articulate. Now Tyreke is an introvert, if you want an example. He can't wait to get away from interviews.

Remember, Jimmer didn't even get a real training camp or even a summer league, which had to be difficult for all the rookies. I'm certainly not going to make any judgement about Jimmer for a while. I think I'll pass on jumping to unsubstantiated or weak conclusions, good or bad.

Like someone said up above, I'm about the Sacramento Kings, not any individual player. When we have new players I will always hope for them to do well here, because I want my team to do well. And Jimmer needs his teammates to do well, because any one player's career success, is dependent on his teammates, success, as well.

Seems some always need more help with perspective than others.

Jimmer first 8 NBA games:
9.4 ppg 2.5 apg

Billups 1st yr: 11.2ppg 3.8asp
4th yr: 9.3ppg 3.4asp

Nash 1st yr: 3.3ppg 2.1apg
4th yr: 8.6ppg 4.9apg

J Nelson 1st yr: 8.7ppg 3.0apg

Parker 1st yr: 9.2ppg 4.3apg

Rondo 1st yr: 6.4ppg 3.8apg

BENO 1st yr: 5.9ppg 1.9apg

DWill 1st yr: 10.8ppg 4.5apg

Stockton 1st yr: 5.6ppg 5.1apg

Do I really need to state how ridiculous it is to rip a rookie for not showing well his first 8 games, 5 of which came in 6 days, with two separate head coaches? Forget the 8 game stretch, if sactownfan was a gm, he would have traded away all the above mentioned guys after their entire rookie(non lockout) years were complete.

It gets pretty damn annoying when posters want to ignore the history of the league, show they have no concept of the history of player development through out the league, and fail to use any statistical perspective whatsoever in their arguments, simply to throw out arguments which have less factual basis than a 4 yr old arguing in a sand box that his sand castle is better than yours.

But isn't this thread about how Jimmer is ever so awesome and that we should start him and bench BOTH Tyreke and Thornton? Which means we start Jimmer and IT I guess ...

ElRey are serious, You state he is suppose to keep teams from packing the middle; you guys astound me. U cant keep defenses from packing the freekin middle as a pure spot up shooter, when evans and thorton dont care if the middle is jammed packed, because its still going up.. it is like nothing i have ever seen. I'm a former division 2 pion basketball player, who would have given anything to play bigtime, but didnt have nearly (not even close) what it took. the reason i even bring up the fact that i played d2 is to hope u wont see it as a boast, (i sure dont) but that u will instead take me at face value when i say that four years playing D2 basketball i never saw or experienced anything like what im seeing in sacramento. its the most selfish form of garbage basketball ive ever watched.. ill admit that i'm a jimmer fan, but not a typical one. i am white, but jordan is my all time fav player, i live in NC, and im not mormon. i started watching fredettes games after he doused arizona for 49. What is happening on the kings squad is so obvious. i do not take blame away from fredette for not playing bettter.. he is being passive and is playing way to reserved. that being said, it is so obvious why. they NEVER hit him when he is wide open. NEVER. 90% of the shots he is getting are shots off the dribble. he is having to create his shot every time... yet he is not forcing much at all. for kings fans to not suggest that he is one of the very few who doesnt seem to have that "Ima get mines" type attitude is rediculous to me. Evans is as far away from being a pg as a player can be. thorton never passes, at all. the kings organization and the fans are missing out on a serious player.. i just dont know why the hell they had draft him...
