Their offensive issue does indeed stem from whatever they're not doing defensively. However, their offense in and of itself is uninspired at best.
Ticha I *might* give a pass because she's had a bum shoulder and her shooting thumb is (partially) hanging off. Everybody else, I'm not sure about. They should be able to hit basic shots. Like layups..and free throws.
Layups are the most basic of shots, and probably the one with the highest percentage. To shoot under 40% in a game, you can't be hitting very many of those and I think that's pretty clear that last night they had zero ability to convert layups or any shot for that matter. Their half-court offensive scheme needs, well, to have an actual scheme. I think it was Boucek in the locker room sound clip who said something to the effect that the offense looked like disorganized mayhem.
Really??
I'm not sure I knew it was supposed to look any different when they run their half court. It looked the same as it always has: shot clock violations, forced passes into the defense or to nobody, moving screens or three-second violations. This team needs to run and it continues to BAFFLE me that they hardly ever look to run. Outlet pass is usually dumped to someone behind the rebounder so it can be walked up the floor. It should only take two passes to get the ball up floor, let the pg trail if you have people up court.
I have no sense who is supposed to get a shot where, and sometimes it doesn't appear that they do either.
Paris deserved to get the minutes she got. (Never understood why she didn't get minutes the last three weeks or that I buy their reason for why she didn't play much on the road trip) Not sure she earned the right to be first post off the bench. Walker may be my choice still. But if she's being effective, and this goes for any player in the rotation - not just Paris, she should be in MORE rotations, not the ones drawn up in the game plan a day before the game. I will continue to beat that drum until the rotational decisions seem to reflect the flow of the game.
