Mike Brown Fired

Malone has every right to hold a grudge against this organization and speak his mind but this isn’t remotely the same. To start with it being relatively obvious Fox’s relationship to Brown is about 180 degrees from Boogie’s with Malone
From all accounts, they had a really good relationship. Maybe that changed when Brown took the step of calling him out publicly? Couldn't handle a coach holding him accountable? Looks to me like his head got too big and it's affected his professional character

There's that.

But roster construction is one of my largest gripes with the direction of this franchise in the wake of the playoff loss to GSW. I have been of the mind that Monte was failing Brown but let's say Brown actually had a great amount of sway in who we brought in and let go. There's really no evidence of either, just speculation. There was a lot of "let's get the coach and GM on the same timeline" chatter, in my mind they still are - either Christie proves someone different can win with this roster or GM is next out the door and you kick off the rebuild with a new coach and GM.

Are the kings gonna fire Monty too? Or are they gonna let him hire the next coach AND THEN FIRE HIM?

That’s the sign that they are back to being the kangz.
How they handle this next hire and who does the hiring,
They are going to fire Monty, but it's probably too big a pill to fire Brown and McNair on the same day, only two days after Christmas. Vivek has a reputation to uphold.

I think its the Klutch/Rich Paul voices in his head. Everything about Fox says he likes playing in Sacramento and would like to win here but I am certain he's been convinced by some in his circle it can't ever happen because of reasons outside his control. In reality there are a lot of things within Fox's control in addition to those outside his control that are inhibiting us.

Doubtful. Doug just like in his playing days? Actually gives a crap. Notice Doug in the practice vids? Working with the lowest guy on the totem pole. That says something.
I had not noticed that, but it is surely one sign of a good coach: one that cares about the players, top to bottom. Also, since he is an interim, I trust Doug Christie to put the best players on the floor, no matter how much they make or where they were drafted (if they were drafted at all). This team is too talented to be losing like this.

Unfortunately, December was the month with the most time to make adjustments, and it has almost run its course. Changes in strategy will have to be implemented one game at a time.

But I can almost guarantee Doug Christie will not be publically calling out his players by name.

This was a terrible move. I love Doug as much as everyone but this is one of the worst decisions I've seen in a long time.

Why would they listen to the next coach now, the players just got the coach fired. The onlu way we salvage this is to trade fox as well.

Let Doug start with clean slate. This will hang over organization for a long time unless we win asap.

Good luck
Why wouldn’t they? Sometimes you need a change and it’s not like everyone here was losing on purpose. If they simply don’t listen to the next guy, that’s more on them than anything. Pride and professionalism should be enough at this point.

He's allowed that to happen, so it's on him. He's the one in charge of his career and this is the path he's chosen.

In season interview with Draymond Green. He can't be serious

That's up to the players I guess. If I was putting my money down on keeping Fox OR rebuilding, it's on Doug. Now, first game Keon gets left out, or nothing changes I'm full on with this all being a total work. lol.
I put my money down on Dante's Inferno. Which level of hell is he going to experience? Poor Doug. But I'm sure he can reach out to such stalwarts as Kenny Natt, Keith Smart, Tyrone Corbin, Alvin Gentry, Luke Walton, Reggie Theus for wise counsel. The beat goes on.... (Apologies if some are now deceased).

I think he might have failed the IQ test by taking the job. Is Christie in dire financial straits, by any chance?? Desperate times call for desperate measures!
First-time coaches and CEOs get opportunities mostly under toxic situations. You have to clean up someone else’s mess and make a name for yourself.

This is the best opportunity Christie is going to get. Three things are in his are favour. First, he has worked with and knows the players. Secondly, there are no reports of infighting within the team. Most importantly, the ownership is supporting of him.

Let’s just say he’s not one failing the IQ or EQ test.

It strains credulity that Brown without being fired by McNair without Vivek's approval, tacit or otherwise. Proof isn't needed, especially with the history of this owner and organization.
Yeah Vivek just ate $30 million can’t imagine any business where an employee could stick their boss with a tab like that without express consent.

I very much doubt they picked fox over brown. There was recent tension, but I really don’t believe this is a move that helps to retain fox. They chose brown now because they absolutely can’t rush a trade of fox. its critical to get the right deal there.
There may be some truth in this. I don't know that the front office *does* want to trade Fox, but if they do, they've got to put the "we're fixing this internally" moves front and center to make sure that any deal they do make isn't a lowball. Also have to get franchises bidding against each other.

Yeah, maybe that costs $30M, but the right deal vs. a lowball is probably worth it.

Brown was only here for 2 years and , what is it, 30 games. Turns the franchise around. Gets them to the playoffs and the playin in the tough, tough Western Conference, and we fired him after an Up and down 30 games.
Such a bad decision. Got head coaches coming out and ripping the organization. The perception of stability surrounding the organization is gone.
Maybe Christie can stabilize it and he/they are successful but I think that with the same players here and the lack of leadership from the main guys, it could get rough.

Malone should probably move on at this point
He won't. He's a bitter, angry man, who got fired for defying the wishes of the front office to incorporate analytics into his process. He knows better. He's smarter than those numberheads, he's one of the good ol' boys, and he doesn't care if they tell him that three-point shots are more efficient than two-point jumpers because those NumbERheaDS don't know what basketball leather feels like. They'll never win. Never mind every piece of evidence to the contrary, Mike Malone knows how to Play Basketball The Right Way™. (Also, gotta love how he went to Denver and completely caved on his position about incorporating analytics. Dude can shove off.)

The support of this owner is as long as a gnat's life and as consequential. It's all empty verbiage. I have a feeling Christie's emotional well-being will be severely tested. He's got a long, long ways to go before the season ends.
