You've got to wonder if this hip injury is connected to the back injury. A portent of things to come?
I've wanted to have MPJ on this team for several years now but I am starting to feel like your assessment is spot on. The risk may be too great. Take BagleyThe Risk Assessment for MPJ:
Ceiling: Kevin Durant (if he is 100% healthy and everything breaks right)
Floor: Greg Oden (if his injury concerns are just beginning)
I think that is way to big of a gap to take someone #2 overall. You need a good and high floor at #2.
We need to take Doncic or Bagley at #2 or trade down.
Former Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr. canceled his second pro day in Chicago on Friday because of a strained hip, sources told ESPN. Porter couldn't get out of bed because of muscle spasms, according to the sources.

Either this, or he's gaming the system because he really wants to play somewhere farther down the draft. Either way, I see too many glaring red lights. You've got to wonder if this hip injury is connected to the back injury. A portent of things to come?
Giles at 20? Good!
MPJ at 2 (or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or 7....)Good!
Hey, at least Vlade's smokescreen on Porter's health is helping MPJ slip all the way down to the Kings pick...^^^ are you possibly suggesting Vlade isn't the sharpest GM tool in the shed?![]()
Day 4 of #30days30drills: nothing like a good ol back squat to prepare for the demands of sport / life. Here @FrankMason0 makes 315 for 5 look like a warmup set. pic.twitter.com/k7dgB7nwFp

Espn reporting a hip injury is why he cancelled. This guy is next greg oden. Will be hurt his entire career.
I think moving up to 2 was actually a curse in disguise for us fans. I think if they stayed put at 7/8 we all wouldn’t be collectively losing our crap right now lol
If there aren't deafening alarms going off right now in everybody's head, people just aren't paying attention. This is a KID, not some little old lady who wakes up in the morning with aches and pains. As Blob referenced above, they're saying he couldn't get out of bed? Good grief. Do not walk away from him...RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!
I can do that too but I'll have to cancel all my workouts until further notice aka eternity.Check out Mason squatting 315 pounds like it is nothing.
With Porters back and doctors note, he'd throw a couple of 10s on the bar and max out of 5 reps.
Then the baby would need a whirlpool, a masseuse and 48 hours of bed rest.

That injury actually ended his career. After surgery he played backup minutes in a couple games in the end of season before retiring.I would just like to remind everyone our GM wanted to give Wes Matthew a max contract after he snapped his Achilles and at the time said "injuries are part of the game" not differentiating between a sprained ankle and a devastating career-altering (ending) event.
Our GM also had the same back injury as MPJ and I am sure he is thinking "didn't slow me down", never mind that Vlade couldn't jump over a phone book towards the later half of his career.
You are referring to Vlade? That injury actually ended his career. After surgery he played backup minutes in a couple games in the end of season before retiring.
Oh please. If we were 7/8 we'd be even more of a mess. Remember all the conjecture/panic about our fears that someone would steal Fox? This fanbase is always gonna be one little step away from the edge. It all started in 2002 and I don't see it ending until we get past the WCF.
Michael Porter's camp sent out an update to teams this afternoon. "Porter will be evaluated again tonight and if the doctor feels Michael is moving well enough to go through the medical evaluation tomorrow, then we are going to proceed with the evaluation at 3pm CST tomorrow."

More from Porter camp: "After being shut down to do strengthening/core stabilization work for his first 4 weeks in Chicago, and then being ramped up as hard as he was the last 3 weeks, Michael developed some inflammation that wrapped around his nerve and caused massive spasms."
— Jonathan Givony (@DraftExpress) June 14, 2018
Continued: "This is very similar to when you hear of a player being out for a few days because of back spasms, and then the spasms dissipate and everything is back to normal. We are being told that is exactly what we expect to happen to Michael."

Most of the NBA's lottery teams want to bring their own medical staffs to Chicago to examine Michael Porter Jr., who has the talent to be a high overall pick. Teams may still get the chance to evaluate him Friday. https://t.co/MMfLejBCaV

Yes, sorry for not clarifying. You are referring to Vlade?

Besides the fact, I don’t think Mason is any more than a borderline bench guy. Kings need a real back up for Fox. Sorry, 5’8 os too short3/4 squat.
Still strong for an NBA player. But, that’s not a full deep squat.
