Michael Porter Jr

FYI...on Grant's show today someone asked him who sac would pick.....he said today he thinks Bagley, DC said Porter. Grant said it could change tomorrow. He's speculating and has no idea.

I heard it’s a nationally renowned back specialist not a member of the Kings medical staff. I think this approach is the right approach:

1) it’s not healthy for Porter to be exposed to radiation if each team shot their own film.

2) from a privacy standpoint I’m not sure I want my scans sent all over the globe either

3) the doctor is a national expert and not skewed by any one team. Should be a realistic neutral opinion and teams can make their own decision.

Ok we have heard the kd comparisons. But what about floor? With porters size and shooting ability. Who in past or present NBA represents the floor for porter? The actual worst I’ve seen is Rudy gay

Rudy Gay is worst case imo. He'll be able to get his shot off so he'll score. Can he score efficiently is the question?

I wonder if this is the angle Vlade and Vivek are looking at if they draft Porter as the next Durant.

Are we trying to recreate the GSW?

First we get the next Curry in Buddy
Then we get the next Durant in MPJ.

I still want Doncic, but I hope that Vlade is right, if we really do take MPJ over Doncic.
 
I think the Kings are trying to bluff porter with hopes to drum up a godfather deal from a team like chicago or the knicks
 
Rashard Lewis and Rudy gay. I could live with those floors. I like it better than doncics floor I’ve seen which is a taller slower Rubio

Have you guys seen the result of the draft poll? The fanbase wants Luka in a landslide. If the FO drafts MPJ the fanbase will be completely ambushed and outraged. If that’s how the FO is leaning they need to get the word circulating now or they will have a PR disaster on their hands.
 
On Friday their entire staff and a hired back specialist with be checking MPJ in Chicago

Porter isn't half the athlete Rudy Gay was coming out of UConn. Gay was much stronger, had a longer wingspan and was much more explosive.

The idea that Porter's floor comps are near all-star level and long time NBA veterans is ridiculous.

A more athletic Rashard Lewis or Keith Van Horn might be his best case. Maybe a poor man's Durant - less ball skills and defense. Like a more athletic but less skilled Brandon Ingram.

Wow another lazy "euro white player" comp. Doncic is a better shooter and shot maker than Ricky is or was as a prospect. Then in favor of Rubio, Rubio is one of the best defensive PG's in the NBA.

Yeah, player comps are almost never accurate in hindsight anyway.

Also, in this day and age there's no reason to use someone else's player comparisons to make judgements about players.

There's tons of tape out there - not just highlights but full games - that you can watch and form your own opinions from.

However, I think Bamba is going to be VERY special. I wanted us to take Gobert in 2013, we took Ben Mclemore. I believe in his physical attributes, as well as his desire to improve, his intelligence, and that he probably didn't show us everything he has in the toolbox. He ran the 3/4 court faster than John wall and Russel WB, so the he won't be plodding down the court like DMC ( whom I love)The fact he is working with noted shooting coach Drew Hanlen, and the fact that at his pre-draft workout for PHX his completely reworked shooting stroke was noted as a surprise by PHX GM Ryan McDonough, on top of his otherworldly defensive abilities, as well as rebounding, as well as lob potential, as well as pick and roll, pick and pop potential with Fox and Bogdan, I can not fathom why you have repeatedly, in multiple threads took the opportunity to speak poorly of him like dirty dishwater?

I respect your posts and am genuinely just baffled why you go beyond saying I don't believe in him as a prospect. You have downright dogged him in multiple threads. We ALL love Luka. We ALL want Vlade to make the right choice. You definitely have made it clear it's Doncic or bust for you. Cool.

However, could you enlighten me as to why you are so adamantly against the possibility of Bamba being our pick?

You DO realize, our rebounding and defense stink out loud. The game is played on both sides of the court. Fast break opportunities, like we are being built for, do not happen when you are taking the ball out of the basket. Etc.

Vlade does not strike me as the type of guy that cares if he makes an unpopular choice.

You really shouldn't hold those two games against him. I know it's hard to do and that's why everyone hates him but he was coming back from major injury to a team he'd never played with. Tough situation.

On defense I think he’ll be good but not some DPOY type guy every year. He’s average on the perimeter as a defender and guards blow past him. I think perimeter defense is more important now for a big over rim protection. On offense teams can still go small on us with 0 repercussions Bamba can’t post up SFs or even bigger guards. His feel for the game is mediocre to bad as well his assist rate is bad and he only averaged 0.6apg. Also in the post he’s not explosive at all and was blocked or didn’t finish shots he should’ve finished which is concerning.

I think a guy like WCS could do what we want from Bamba on defense. Provide good pick and roll defense and protect the paint to a point.

I have Jaren Jackson way ahead of Bamba he’ll be just as elite in defense but is oozing with potential on offense
