Mccants & Diogu

Both of these guys have really good potential and they are getting no burn at all. We dont need to be playing Kevin and cisco 40 minutes a game, we know what they are capable of. Give these guys some time. Mccants was playing well tonight on both ends, when we were attempting a comeback then Kenny took him out for Martin. These players should be seeing 20 + a game so we can evaluate them because they are restricted F/A's at the end of the year. make it happen NATT!

Not having seen him play since his rookie year with the warriors, I must say he looked pretty good there. I'm not sure how he has (or hasn't) developed since then, but I like what I saw there in the video.

I dont like Natt's decision's most of the time regarding player rotation's....So i doubt they get that much needed playing time to be evaluated....

I don't understand it either. Don Nelson is notoriously fickle with his rotations so who knows what Diogu did to draw his ire. I don't think he ever got a legitimate shot at playing time with Indiana or Portland. Both of those teams thought he was worth acquiring, but then didn't give him any playing time. So far that looks to be the case here as well. Why even bother trading for him if you're not going to play him?

Wow I saw a lot that I liked in that video. And while anyone can look good on a highlight video, that was A) all in the nba B) all in one year and C) he doesnt get much playing time so there was a lot to like from a relatively small sample..

He has the ability to be one of the better 6th men in the league. He can really punish in the post. Someone needs to make him a specialist. I don't Kenny Natt even knows what that means.

I thought he'd be a nice fit alongside Oden - a dominant center with size. But Oden really hasn't been healthy, plus Portland has other guys that were better in front of Diogu.

Make Diogu a 6th man specialist, it would be a really good role for him.

I think we'll have to be a little more patient, but I'm not sure why Ike hasn't gotten in a game yet. Mccants shows hustle, skill, and the ability to score which we already knew he had he's just in a clustered postition on our team unfortunately.

I don't think Diogu has the ability to be a 6th man specialist. I think he could contribute, and on a nightly basis. But I think your expectations of him are a little too high.

McCants have been playing good D since his first game here. Some people are gonna eat crows for saying he doesn't defend.
No. The book on him was that he could defend well, given his athleticism and quickness, but that his mind was never totally into it. He's a player that tends to invest the majority of his energy on offense. Think Cat Mobley again here--I don't think he's a great defender, but he can good for stretches. Height may backfire on him though--he's only 6'4".

I disagree. I just think he hasn't found the right fit yet, and it may still not be with the Kings.

Detroit made Corliss a 6th man, and 6th Man of the Year. Not saying Diogu is that good, but he can play a role.

With seven new players and only 26 games at the end of a season for them to showcase what they can do, it's really unfair for the coach and those seven. Noce being the exception. I think he is the starting SF for several years unless (if) Greene can ever play defense and use his potential.

But the rest will just have tough time showcasing given the circumstances. They will need at least two full weeks of practice to get into the current play sets. But since the Kings don't yet have a style or real leader, it's all the more tougher. Too bad Gooden is not 100% as they can really use his skills in the paint to help stop the layup drills by the other teams.

But Solomon and maybe even McCants need to get Beno's playing time until his foot heals, not BJax, who, with Cisco, are a really good off-the-bench pair. Could Diogu also be a Williamson type off the bench: under sized, tough, defender, rebounder, score down low??? Would be nice.

McCants made a good comment after he had a heart-to-heart with Coachie on Wednesday and maybe can show us better what he can bring.

But we need to realize that Kings are in a Pre-Season mode now with 1/2 the team new in the past week. Having said that, we can hope Coach starts to get some of the new guys some PT unless the front office already has plans for some/many of them.

The only thing we can count on that makes sense is that Spencer will play a lot of minutes. Natt doesn't have a choice. There is no other center. Other than that, forget about it...

However we do not really need to evaluate seven players. It's really only two.

Booth: Has played 1 minutes all year
Solomon: 31 year old fill-in PG from Euroleague
Gooden: We should just buy him out
Simmons: According to Bulls posters he is one of the worst players in the league
Nocioni: He is going to be here next year so we don't really have to "evaulate" him.

That leaves only two players McCants & Diogu who the team needs to look at. With Beno out there is no reason why they both can't play 20 minutes a game. Knowing us however that means we aren't going to play either.

Mccants played awsome tonight.

His offense was impressive, but i was more impressed with his rotations on defense and on ball defense, the guy looks like a great two way player.

Glad too see Ike got some playing time tonight not much.. but at least the coach knows hes there, hopefully we can see more of him next game.
