Johnson sounded stoked on the 12:00 news. I've never seen him that excited and positive.
Props to KJ, supposedly he got businesses to commit to over 9 million dollars annually. He is working harder for this team than the Maloofs have in the last 5 years.
KJs enthusiasm is contageous - after seeing that Ch. 3 clip. The mayor hit a sharp single to straight centerfield today. Hopefully, he doesn't get thrown out trying to steal second base. Next we need a double or triple to drive him home on May 2nd. Then to top it off we need a big home run with solid plan in place to finance a new arena at the Railyards - or anywhere "feasible."
Oh, Lord, take me now.![]()

This brings up a question: Is it really annually? Do we know this?
The usual suspects, many of whom obviously lack any background, facts or knowledge about the issue. Maybe instead of posting so much blather and ill-informed knee jerk responses 24/7, they should try actually reading the Bee and reading all the consultant reports on Arco. Maybe read the UC Davis report recently published about arenas, in relation to Sacramento.Man, the comment section is going off the hook with trolls under that story..

I've been trying to find the article where I read this, but KJ said that the commitments range from 1 to 4 years.
I get a chuckle at the comments, they can't be taken seriously. Kind of amusing that they can talk out of both sides of their mouth to condemn the politician or team that they hate so much.
It's pretty obvious what's going to happen based on what we know so far..
West Sac looks to be in on the deal to build an arena near the waterfront on the railyards in conjunction with development on both sides of the river in order to "spice" up the night life down there. Good idea because it could be VERY nice down there. The businesses would just go crazy with new customers if this were to happen.

I sure hope so as far as participation with West Sac (Yolo County). Back in mid 80s it was proposed to develop the waterfront something like the Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. It never happened like so much dithering on the east bank of the Sacramento river. But West Sac went ahead with their plan and it resulted in an amazing riverfront development over in Yolo County. Of course, they also went all out to get Raley Field built.
May 2nd is still a key date but if Kings are allowed to stay the new drop dead date is March 2012. The NBA is demanding Sacramento (not Yolo County, although their participation is great) have an iron clad arena agreement with financing in place or the days of dithering are over and dead.
thunder valley casino should get involed in this, the GM of the casino knows the maloofs from vegas.
I got a good feeling about this.. Can anyone say Oakland A's in town within the next 10 years if this whole "riverwalk" thing takes off?
And if there a railyard riverwalk arena gets built and it's a success it will be easier to duplicate it with a ball park. I could see it. Baby steps.
The good thing about ball park idea is that Raley Field was built so that it could easily be upgraded to big league standards. It would be nice if there was some deal where West Sac helps Sac build an arena now and if there is the opportunity to attract the A's, Sac pitches in to get Raley Field up to specs.
