Martin Update

Entity

Hall of Famer
I finally found some information on Kevin reguarding his injury status and possible return. Kevin has a CT scan set for Dec 30th. That is the checkup in which he will be cleared or not to practice with the team. Possible return is early January now. I just looked at the schedule. We play a back to back every friday and saturday for the whole month of January. Only 5 games during the week. I am guessiung Kevin is back by the second friday which is the 8th. That date will following a 1 game in 4 days stretch.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I was hoping he'd be ready when I go watch the Kings take on the Hawks here in Philips Arena.

Go0d stuff.

During the CLE game this WK, the CLE commentators (L. Pass) stated twice that Marty-Mar was returning within the next WK.
I thought that was odd, since I had not heard that he was even practicing w/the team yet. I guess they knew something.

I thought they were referring to him returning to practice.

It will be incredibly interesting to see how this works. I think judging by last night coach has made it pretty clear that this is Tyreke's team. Not that Martin really ever embraced him being the team leader anyways. It will be interesting to see if Martin plays better a second fiddle, because it's clear that Tyreke plays better as the #1 option (that's not a knock on Tyreke, as all the great ones do).

I have my fingers crossed he'll be back the first week in January. I hve tickets to the game at Oracle vs GS. I'm getting excited about Kevins return, and to see if it will work or not.

Kevin made his name being 2nd even 3rd fiddle behind Bibby and Artest. Last yeat it was only him. He was better suited not being the #1 guy.

I can't wait to see this team when Kevin comes back! Having him as one of our main shooting options when he comes back will only make us more deadly as a team. Kind of like Lebron and Zydrunas Ilgauskas during the Cleveland game. Now, I don't know much about Ilgauskas, but I know that I couldn't stand him by the end of the game as he sank all of those shots. Can you imagine what it will be like with Tyreke and Kevin? I can't wait!! Yes, I BELIEVE!!!

Word. I can't wait til he comes back. I definitely hope he proves the "trade matin" hater's wrong!

Well today was the day that Kevin was supposed to have his CT scan to see if he was ready to start practicing. Any word?

I'm willing to bet Grant will have something to say in the pre-game chit-chat.

:)

VF does Kevin Martin give you the mitch richmond trade feel all over again? We love Mitch but we knew we were better with what we got for him. Its just a strange feeling.

From the Bee...

Kings guard Kevin Martin's return in not imminent.
Today's CT scan showed improvement and healing in his broken wrist, but he won't be cleared to play until after another visit to the doctor on Jan. 12.
Martin told the The Bee's Sam Amick the injury is progressing well.
"Splint is off," Martin said. "Just rehab to work on range of motion. So when that's good I'm good. I got cleared to do all basketball activities without contact until my motion is good. And I'm not putting any dates on anything."

I'm probably not the right person to ask. I'm one of the few who was never a big Mitch Richmond fan.

:o

Hurry up and heal already! We need you back!

Richmond was my B Ball idol, so I'll answer Entity's question:

No. Martin is not the grump that Richmond was toward the end of his tenure. Martin is not the great two way player Mitch was. He would net us less value. I think everyone in the organization is content to wait and see with Martin.

Query: If Richmond had been a perfectly happy camper in his last year, would it then have been the right decision not to trade him? Everybody shake their head.

if richmond stayed no glory years for us i guess..

hey we could have snagged lebron

Kevin Martin needs to stop being a sissy and play. His injuries are going to be the tale of his career. Not comparing Kobe to Kmart, but the man played through a broken pinky, for crying out loud.

He wasn't even given the option to play...

nor should he have...

kobe bryant's team is competing for a title, and he's superstar enough to play with a broken finger...

the sacramento kings are not competing for a title, and kevin martin can't play with a fractured wrist...

martin will still feel the "man of glass" heat if injuries continue to plague his career, but i say he should get completely healthy before he returns to the court...

the kings are a developing team without a desperate need for martin in the lineup at the moment...

he has no value to the kings, as a starter or trade bait, if he returns from the inactive list too early with the potential to cause further injury to himself...

Actually, yes he was, and he took the logical decision, which isn't always praised by fans. He DECIDED to have the surgery, even though some analysts around the league have been saying that his type of injury can be played through.

name 3 players that have played through that same injury and it actually healed?

I believe I was 14, and I was very sad when he was traded. It was a good move. I didn't know much at all about the business of basketball, and I could not understand why it was done. My dad told me that it was because Mitch wasn't happy here anymore, and Webber was worth a shot. I would have thought that it was messed up, and I would be less of a fan, if Mitch was fine here. That's why I don't get the same vibe. Martin isn't the identity of this team anymore, he is also not unhappy and requesting a trade. To those who idolize Martin (and I'm sure there are a few), a trade would be a major blow to their Kings fan-ness. But basketball is a business, and since Martin is the now #2 on the totem pole the vibe is different.

To answer clearly:

Would the Mitch 4 Webber trade be less right if he were happy?

Just a little, to his biggest young fans that viewed him as THE King, such as myself. On an ethical level.

ya know... broken pinky<<<<fractured wrist... martin is legitimately injured right now...

No, Kevin Martin does not have a fractured wrist. He has a hairline fracture, which means it is partially fractured (not completely), like a crack, usually a result of a minor injury.
