Martin for TMac revisited (split)

How is TMac going to help the Kings more than Martin? He can't even stay on the court due to his constant injuries.

huge expiring contract... and it eliminates the logjam we have at sg/sf especially if nocioni is part of the deal. though i doubt that they would want nocioni. mcgrady wouldnt even have to play, he could be waived immediately... i could careless... though if he can play why not?

I'm fully against it. TMac would make sense if the Rockets wanted KT, Noc, Beno and filler. KMart actually has value. If we do need to trade him we need actual assets in return. Especially considering that we are not the top destination for free agents, I would have a hard time seeing us signing a player better than Martin. Well we could potentially take on a player without the salaries having to be within 125% if another team was looking to trade a star for luxury tax relief next year, at this point I would consider it an asset bleed to lose Martin for nothing more than cap space.

i agree and under normal circumstances that would be the thing to do. but i dont see how we are going to get a player as good or better than martin. maybe a player at a different position. but who wants to give away a player as good as martin? they probably want to keep them... but the extra cash and open roster spots would be nice, especially if we can move nocioni in the deal but i doubt that anyone would want him.

sergio probably wont be resigned... if martin and nocioni are gone then we would have just evans, casspi, greene and garcia... we'll have cash to go after a third big man... maybe we can balance out the roster and find player that compliment evans and creating a winning atmosphere...

chad ford said that there is a 40-50% chance that amare will be moved... if they are still interested in martin they can have him and thomas for amare.

The thing is we don't have to force a Martin trade. We are going nowhere this season. Martin will still have value over the summer and next season. You never know when the next Pau Gasol or Chris Webber will be on the market and starting a package with Kevin is a good base.

The other option is to break Kevin up into several smaller assets. Some combination of young players, expiring contracts and picks. Of which some can become better than Martin or be used as part of a trade to acquire a better player.

Trading for pure cap space that is of much less value to us than a team in a large market is a backwards move.

Kevin is worth more than a salary dump.
But if they also threw in a 1st round pick...hmm

it would have to be a 2011 1st rounder... since they are playing pretty well i doubt that they would have any problem with that.

I agree that Kevin is worth more than a salary dump, but man, If we can send them Noch. You have to consider that if we dont get any better offers.

However, I dont know if houston wants those two guys anyway. I would guess they rather let Tmac expire.
