I know that a lot of people around the country worship at the altar of lakers and Celtics, but I can't muster up the energy to care, especially not since the Celtics signed FSM. The game I would be most interested in watching is Spurs/Blazers, but I don't think that either Duncan or Oden are going to play, which makes me decidedly less interested.

Right now, the game I'm looking most forward to is Cavaliers/Hawks. Both teams could use the win, but the Hawks need it a little bit more, so I'm rooting for them.

Watching the Suns beat up on the Lakers was fun ... a win-win situation from my viewpoint since one of the two "co-MVPs" was going to walk away a loser.

:)

I had to root for the Cavs so they'd be tied with the Lakers for fewest losses... exciting game though and I thought for sure Joe Johnson was going to hit that last shot.

On the Lakers front, Lamar Odom is reverting back to his inconsistent self the last few games. Wonder if it's just a fluke or he'll completely return to reality after having a monster Februrary? The Lakers will lose a couple games this month if he puts up a few more 4pt/2rb type efforts...

Pistons looked really solid yesterday. Wonder what the effect of AI's return will be like to their resurgence?

considering M Curry said he'd be the spot duty PG (meaning around 15-20 mins a game), I don't think the contribution will be good. I just don't see Iverson's ego swallowing this pill, even for the remaining 20 games.

Spurs waive F Mensah-Bonsu; Gooden coming next?

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs have released forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu in what may be a space-clearing move to add veteran free agent forward Drew Gooden.

Gooden cleared waivers from Sacramento, where the 6-foot-10 forward played in just one game after being traded from Chicago. The Spurs would not comment on reports saying they might pick up Gooden.
Gooden would give San Antonio another much-needed big man to challenge the Los Angeles Lakers if the Western Conference's top two teams were to meet in the playoffs.
"I'm in a no-comment mood on any additions to our team, not specifically that individual you just mentioned," coach Gregg Popovich said before the Spurs played the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.
Popovich offered a minor update on Manu Ginobili, who is battling an ankle injury.
"He was out for a week with a boot, came out of the boot and they told us 2 to 3 weeks. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks. In that sense we're getting closer," Popovich said.
Mensah-Bonsu signed a 10-day contract with the Spurs on Feb. 25. He played in three games, averaging 5 points and 3.3 rebounds in limited minutes.

MIAMI -- The so-called "Hate Shaq" tour took a sharp turn in the opposite direction Wednesday, becoming the "Shaq Hates" tour.

Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O'Neal ripped his former coach, Stan Van Gundy, on Wednesday after Van Gundy complained about O'Neal flopping the previous night in a loss at Orlando, pulling no punches in one of the stronger diatribes of his 17½ year career.

"I heard his comment. Flopping to me is doing it more than one time, and I realized when I tried to take the charge, as I went down, I realized that that play reminded me of his whole coaching career," O'Neal said of Van Gundy. "And one thing I really despise is a front-runner, so I know for a fact that he's a master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go in the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down because of his panic. I've been there before, I've played for him."

ESPN: Shaq bashes Van Gundy

"Flopping is playing like that your whole career. I was trying to take the charge, trying to get a call. It probably was a flop, but flopping is the wrong use of words. Flopping would describe his coaching," O'Neal said, steering the conversation back to Van Gundy. "I'm not going to just sit abound and let nobodies take shots at me, and he is a nobody to me. And if he thinks he can get in a little press conference and take shots at me like I'm not going to [give] something back, he's got another thing coming."

"I said I flopped, but flopping is falling and crying and complaining to the ref. I tried to take a charge. The rules say when a guy comes into your chest and you fall, that's an offensive foul, and that's all I tried to do. I fell, didn't complain, he made a great move, spun and dunked it, but flopping is the wrong choice of words. So that's all I've got to say about that, but again, I despise frontrunners, I despise them. And that's what he is to me."

Rules? Try reading those again after you shoot a free throw bud.

sigh... Shaq you are truly just one big joke.

Van Gundy had listened to Shaq’s relentless ripping of his young center, and decided to make himself the easy target for O’Neal. He’d take the hit. Shaq has been obsessed with Howard. He hates that Howard’s a young center in the city where O’Neal started out in the league, and hates that Howard wears a Superman cape, and hates that, well, Howard’s the next big thing.

So, yes, O’Neal’s been cruel in his dismissals of Howard. Perhaps Van Gundy started to see that it wore on Howard, that it had gone beyond comical to uncomfortable. Howard’s a nice kid and he won’t fight back.

“I respect my elders,” Howard said Tuesday, refusing again to return fire on O’Neal. He was half-joking, but make no mistake: Howard has never been sure what to do with Shaq’s animus. He isn’t sure what he did to make O’Neal so angry with him.

Howard’s a hard kid to dislike, but Shaq has gone to needless lengths with his criticisms. Van Gundy had to stand up for Howard.

...

Shaq keeps saying that Howard hasn’t done anything, that he doesn’t deserve his respect and maybe that’s so. Deep down, Shaq knows that Howard is a far more athletic specimen at 23 years old. Howard will win titles, and he’ll do it without tearing apart the accomplishments, the character, of those who’ll play with him and played before him.

I haven't heard much about this. Is it more of a writer's spin on things?

Anyway, Shaq's mouth has been running a lot lately since his rejuvenation. The other day he was calling Chris Bosh, RuPaul.

******* LAKERS!!!

Guess it wasn't the haircut that made him ugly :)

Now all he needs is a shave.

Now, Johnny Unitas -- that's a haircut you could set your watch to!

Never laughed so hard watching a basketball game in my life than when his team was knocked out in the Final Four and he just cried, face down on the court like a blubbering idiot.

The Lakers is the right place for him.

I wiiling to hazard the theory that it hasn't stopped running since he was conceived.

A torn retina is nothing to mess with, unless you don't mind losing vision in one eye. I was actually surprised by the earlier report that Amare would return in time for the playoffs.

I watched this game yesterday, and this was probably bottom on the list of nasty things Paul did to the Mavs yesterday. He picked them part with his passing and mid ranged jumpers. I liked the move he did to freeze Barea a lot better, but it probably didn't look as good as this one in slow motion.

he wasn't crying today, he was clotheslining sideshow.

then baby ray allen gets a tech because he was mad about cleveland's reaction. i always thought he hated bruce bowen because they weren't teammates. now i am sure of that.

He's just being Shaq, adding drama to give NBA critics with too much free time something to talk about.

"He's just being Shaq."

"He's Just being KG."

I hate how these guys get a pass because of their popularity status. Couple of ***holes if you ask me.
