With the outcry from many fans toward the Maloofs concerning the manner in which they handle their recent transactions, the Maloofs may make resigning Bonzi an even higher priority to avert a 2nd public relations (PR) disaster of the summer.
Given that the Maloofs 1) are a Vegas-Beverly Hills family built on image and public opinion (as evidenced by Joe's need to call KHTK to clear the air last night), 2) need continual support for a new arena, 3) emphasize and covet defense, the urgency to resign a popular player in Bonzi once FA starts this summer has elevated to another level.
While people may differ in their opinions, I feel that the loss of Adelman and Bonzi (both of whom Artest publically support) would mean we lose all the momentum we built going 26-12 in the last 38 and giving the Spurs all they can handle in the playoffs. Can't imagine the Maloofs allowing this to happen...for our sake...for Ron's sake. While the Maloofs may not want to overpay Bonzi before, now they may not have any other choice if they want to salvage public opinion and keep both the fans and Artest happy.
