Making a run this year

Here's my idea for a trade that solves our biggest glaring weaknesses defensively with two very solid players and give us an upgrade at power forward. It would probably require ownership giving a commitment to spending money, but I think they're gonna have to do that anyway if they are really going to commit to winning a championship.

Kings Outgoing

Brad Miller
Shareef Abdur-Rahimn
Francisco Garcia
Corliss Williamson
Jason Hart
Vitaly Potapenko

Kings Incoming

Antonio Daniels
Antawn Jamison
Jamaal Magliore

New Kings Lineup

Bibby/Daniels/Price
Wells/Martin/Monia
Artest/Monia
Jameson/Thomas
Magliore

This gives us a real big man in the middle who can defend against big strong centers (something Brad had problems with) rebound well, and block a couple shots. Exactly what we have been lacking. Bringing in Jameson is hard with his huge contract, and is probably something you don't want to commit to unless you are really making a run, but it only runs two more years, and comes off the books when the Kings are going to need room to resign Artest and Kevin. He's definitly an upgrade over SAR and will give the Kings four of their starting 5 who can each at times singlehandedly take over a game Also, if Jameson works out well with the Kings and they decide to keep him, he'll most likely be resigned at a salary of about half of what he's making now. I think Antonio Daniels can come in and pretty much shore up our backcourt. He is a good big defender who can guard shooting guards, which will help against teams with quick point guards like San Antonio, as you can switch Kevin to guard the point and put Daniels on the sg. He's also a solid back up point guard who can score and doesn't turn the ball over much. If Bibby were to have an injury Daniels could come in and be a very adequate starter on this team, and can back up the 2 if Bonzi or Kevin goes down. This would leave the kings in need of a backup center and backup small forward. Since there will probably be a 3 man rotation on the wings of Artest, Bonzi, and Martin, backup small forward is the less critical and would allow us to pick one up in the draft, as they are always more plentiful around pick 19 anyway. If Petrie sees a big man draftee that he is sold on, he can also go that route for backup center and use the MLE on another big man for insurance if the pick doesn't pan out, and then sign someone like Matt Barnes for the minimum as your backup sf.

Wizards Outgoing

Antawn Jameson
Antonio Daniels

Wizards Incoming

Brad Miller
Francisco Garcia
Jason Hart
Corliss Williamson

Wizards do this to get Brad Miller to become their passing center for their Princeton offense, which is exactly where Brad excels. His weaknesses will be hidden much better than here playing next to a banger in Etan Thomas and having Haywood behind him off the bench. Francisco can come in a contribute right away as he already understands the offense having played in it in college and in Sac, and has shown a ton of potential with his versatility. Hart gives them a backup point guard which can fill some of what was lost by Daniels with his defense. Williamson is a throw in that expires at the end of the year.

Milwaukee Outgoing

Jamaal Magliore

Milwaukee Incoming

Shareef Abdul-Rahim
Vitaly Potapenko

This is the one that I'm not as sure about from the Bucks perspective, but they have said that they are going to trade Magliore, and that they want a power forward so that Bogut can shift to center. They went after Shareef last year in free agency, but he didn't want to go there as he didn't think he would be starting, and he wanted a starting job. He is signed to a very reasonable contract that the bucks wouldn't mind keeping around as backup. His post abilities would help in both teaching Bogut and as a compliment to Bogut's shooting. Potapenko makes the salaries work and expires at the end of the year.

Won't work because the Wizards have said recently they want to get even more uptempo and play small-ball. Brad/Corliss/Hart don't fit that. They'd like Garcia though.

err. How come KT's contract is not in this deal. I think he is one of the guys that are holding us up on some potential trades.

I just didn't think that either one of those teams wanted of could use KT. I don't like his contract either, but was trying to be realistic in what the other team would really want, and since milwaukee tried to sign SAR last year, I figured that they would still be interested in him. I don't think either SAR or KT are anywhere near equal to Magliore talent wise, but due to this being Magliore's last year of his contract, and the Bucks having their #1 pick waiting to start at center and their need for a power forward, that SAR would be a good fit for them and Magliore would be a good fit for us.

KT would suit the Wiz because he's a quick, athletic PF. Would also help their rebounding and toughness. Whereas SAR is different style of player with his post-game, and not as quick or athletic as Kenny. Not suiting the direction they want to go in.

Bucks need a PF, period. They have all centers, and Joe Smith isn't fit to start anymore.

I bet the Wizards would love to get their hands on Miller. They run the Princeton offense but they have nobody on the team who can run the high post. They wouldn't give up Jamison to get him though...

it wouldn't take garcia to get the wizards trade done. keep him. he's the next coming.....of AK

Hopefully Cisco's jump shot continues to develeop because that's the only weakness in AK's game. I actually see more Josh Howard potential with Cisco!

We could never do that deal. Just too many pieces moving out Jamison has a huge deal for the next couple of years, he isn't a PF as said, and if anything we are not much or any better.
