Fresno King

Starter
All right, let's try to have a little bit of fun here. Let's pretend John Salmons isn't on the Kings, and I brought up his name as a possible acquisition. I'm interested to see what the response would be. So... hey guys, what do you think of John Salmons (76ers). Decent size... slashes to the basket... still young... any thoughts??? ;)

Well, at this point Fred Jones is still on the table, so why not go after him instead? But John Salmons? Come on, he's been in Philly but proven nothing to have a bad attitude. He will be like Kenny Thomas, just a bad attitude with no talent upside. If we can get him for a million I woulldn't mind it, but he just turned down a big offer from Toronto, so I don't see why he'd sign for anything less than the MLE.

i have nba league pass, i watch 6ers games whenever there arent kings games on, and overall i think he's decent, obviously hes nothing special, but i think he could be a good backup to mike. i dont really like the contract he got, i would have preffered that we pay him less than his phoenix toronto offers, something like 4 yrs 16 million, or 5 yrs 20 million. putting aside the fact that signing salmons means losing bonzi, i thinks its an alright signing, we needed a backup for mike, not named Jason Hart

The only reason why Fred Jones seems appealing is because he gained famed by winning the slam dunk contest a few years back. Fred is a bit undersized and IMO is less of a player than Salmons. It's funny that while Fred Jones was still looking for a deal Salmons had offers from Toronto and Phoenix before signing with us. That says something.

Salmon is alright, but what do we need another guard for. We have 7 guards and 4 big man. I'd rather trade for another big body.

I'd say yes, for the LLE.

If you told me the MLE...I'd run...far...very fast.

More or less, yes.

Salmons -- good size if he's a PG or 1/2 tweener, slashes. But can't shoot, defends only when he feels like it, has a shaky attitude, and is accused of having quit on his team last year. Strength is in his versatility, and if we wanted to add him for the LLE to round out the guard corps might be an ok answer to the backup PG question. Thing is, he plays better as a starter, and is wildly inconsistent, so not sure how much we can count on him.

Not until we address our issues down low. We have capable backups for Mike right now, but nothing to deal with our rebounding deficiencies and pathetic post defense.

Looking at that thread I just busted up laughing when someone sarcastically said "Watch the Knicks blow their MLE on him" It's so sad it's funny...
