Magic interested in Artest.

On the front page of ESPN they have the headline, "Magic interested in Artest?" Does anyone have the article. I hope they do because if I were Petrie I would try and pry Darko for him in trade.

From ESPN's rumor page:

Privately, the Magic would love to have Artest -- if somebody did a mental makeover on him.

Artest is not worth the risk, though. He could poison a team in no time and there's some of that behind the Kings wanting to deal him.

Again, Magic fans, it won't happen, just like with Allen Iverson. The Magic don't want characters. They want players with character. -- Orlando Sentinel

Here is the trade:

Kings get:

Grant Hill
Darko

Magic get:

Potapenko
Garcia
Reef
Artest

Works cap wise.

You both crack me up.....at least you need to be reasonable and give something up to get something.

Thomas??? No one wants that contract.

You referring to me? I might do it as is, but Garcia makes it iffy. Take him out and I'm ok with it for sure. Then trade Mike+Kenny to the Grizz for Eddie Jones+a player or something. Get enough cap room to grab Billups and Gerald Wallace maybe?

I would do Darko and Redick for Ron-Ron!!! It works and it adresses our needs (shooter and young big). Plus if they don't work out their off the books in one and two years.

Take out Garcia and I'm down. Atleast we'd get a lot of cap room and a shotblocker. Darko+Martin you can build around IMO.
Umm....take out Garcia and the Magic GM laughs at you. If he is not already laughing at the original offer.

I got this from the Magic board

I am with you on this one in a big way. It not only gives us a muc needed big, but it also puts us is a rebuild mode in a strong way. Think of all the young talent we would have.....Kmart, 'Cisco, Price, Darko, JJ, Douby......it could be a team that works well for many years.

^^^^ In a heart beat!!! quick GP get on the phone!!! Get Darco and Hedo Back, where do I sign!!!

I would kind of agree with that (a Hedo/Darko/extra piece sort of deal) except for...

Absolutely NOT! Hedo and SAR on the same team, I dont know if this forum can handle it.

which I'm sure went right over the heads of newere members here, but I thught was quite hilarious. Hedo always came with a whole throng of the most dedicated and often annoying player fans we have seen around here. Turned the forum into a practically constant warground an every thread into a Hedo discussion.

What about this trade? Not sure if both teams would do it, but it works salary wise.

Kings trade:
4147.jpg
Quincy Douby
Salary: $1,240,920 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 2.2 REB: 0.8 AST: 0.2 PER: 12.92
3949.jpg
Francisco Garcia
Salary: $1,092,600 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 4.1 REB: 1.8 AST: 0.8 PER: 9.33
3339.jpg
Ron Artest
Salary: $7,526,316 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 16.4 REB: 7.2 AST: 3.0 PER: 17.62

Vitaly Potapenko
Salary: $3,674,584 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 0.0 REB: 0.5 AST: 0.0 PER: -30.44

Kings receive:

3705.jpg
Darko Milicic
Salary: $5,218,622 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 7.1 REB: 4.9 AST: 1.1 PER: 12.42

J.J. Redick
Salary: $1,860,720 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 3.4 REB: 1.2 AST: 0.6 PER: 2.64

Travis Diener
Salary: $664,209 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.9 REB: 1.0 AST: 1.3 PER: 15.55

Tony Battie
Salary: $5,746,000 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 5.0 REB: 5.0 AST: 0.3 PER: 6.97

We'd be going younger (young promising big, young lights-out shooter), getting a bit more size in Battie and I'm not sure what Diener is like but he's a throw in to make salaries match.

Likely Magic wouldn't do it because of Darko. Dwight and Darko may be a force in a few years (Dwight is already there as a dominant big). But they get a fierce defender and good second option on a contender in Ron, young promising players in Douby and Garcia (which makes up for the loss in 3pt shooting they lose in Reddick) and an expiring in Vitaly.

Maybe the only thing that would stop them thinking about this deal is the fact that Rons history.

I like that trade though, but they probably wouldn't. Thoughts on this??

Outgoing Players: Tony Battie, Travis Diener, Trevor Ariza, Darko Milicic

Sacramento Kings

Incoming Players

Tony Battie
Salary: $5,746,000 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 5.0 REB: 5.0 AST: 0.3 PER: 6.97

Travis Diener
Salary: $664,209 Years Remaining: 1

Trevor Ariza
Salary: $3,100,000 Years Remaining: 2

Darko Milicic
Salary: $5,218,622 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 7.1 REB: 4.9 AST: 1.1 PER: 12.42

Why for Orlando:
Ron Artest is versatile and he could start at the Small Forward for them and they could play Grant Hill or Hedo at the 2
Kenny Thomas is the perfect forward to team with Howard, he rebounds, and he plays away from the post so Howard will have a clear out all the time.

Why for Sac:
Battie - shotblocker/rebounder
Milicic - Shotblocker/rebounder
Ariza - replaces Ron in the lineup, can do a lot of things with the ball. Start Salmons over him though.
Diener - Outside threat, can handle the ball

Orlando's new lineup

PG - Nelson/Arroyo/Dooling
SG - Turkoglu/Hill/Reddick/Bogans
SF - Artest/Hill/Outlaw/Bogans
PF - Thomas/Garrity/Outlaw
C - Howard/Outlaw/Garrity

Sacramento's new lineup

PG - Bibby/Price/Diener
SG - Martin/Ariza/Douby
SF - Salmons/Garcia/Ariza
PF - Miller/SAR/Battie/Taylor
C - Milicic/Battie/SAR/Potato

The magic won't trade Darko, lol. Jamaer, Dwight, Darko, and Ariza are the future of that team if a trade goes down with any of those 4 i think there will be maddness in Orlando.

Orlando is a team with a bright future, i highly doubt that they will throw all that away for a guy like Artest who could screw it all up.

I know, that's why I said they probably won't do it. Don't tell me that if Artest was sane (lol) that they wouldn't consider it, he's still young enough to be in his prime when Dwight and Jameer are hitting there prime, that would be a great core 3. Defensive beasts, young shooters, veterans, depth. They'd have everything, certainly enough to contend in the East. ;)

Orlando doesn't really need any thing they are fine the way they are, they really don't need artest. They have Ariza who is going to better then expected, they have two great big man, and a nice pg in nelson all they have to do is let the team grow together. All they might need is a wing player and an extra big man but they could do that in the off season with all the money they will have.

No need to get angry and use "hell" in every sentence.
