Magic fire Van Gundy and Otis Smith

No, Gracias!

Eff that guy.

This. What makes anyone think a guy who was pretty much given the head coaching position for the Kings only to stab the team in the back and decide to take his talents elsewhere would consider coaching that same team who he decided to stab many seasons later?

Not bashing the dude as I do believe he is one helluva basketball coach, but I don't want the possibility of being stabbed to happen again...

No thanks!

That, and whatever the issues with Howard are, I'd prefer not having a repeat with out tortured soul franchise player.

I think this is good for Orlando. Now they can hire Dwight Howard as GM and coach at the same time. He won't have problem with that anymore and he will be able to focus on his game(finally). Stan was the only person who was on Dwight's way to the ring.

lets not get crazy SVG would coach circles around Smart, but even if the magoofs wernt broke i wouldnt see him and cuz getting along. however we do need a coach who can hold players accountable for doing dumb stuff on the court the way SVG does.

even with 4 rings Pop still gets on parker, duncan ginobilli etc in front of everyone if they make the slightest dumb move or take a stupid shot and not create better looks. He's been that way since each of them came into the league so they know their bounds.

with our coaching carousel and lack of proven vets our guys go into iso/hero playground mode way too dam often and face ZERO repercussions thus leading to a lack of development until they move on and get real coaching.( dont forget at the beginning of the year we had no big man coach even though we have one of the best young bigs in the league)

But in the end it all comes down to ownership and what they can spend, to me the perfect guy would be someone with the same type of firey style as SVG but with more pedigree to instill fear and respect similar to what pop has done. unlike us you have to beat them, they rarely beat themselves with dumb mistakes.

First SVG screwed us, so its not happening. 2nd SVG and Smith screwed up in a huge way with Dwight. I don't want them anywhere near Cousins. You do NOT put 3pt shooting wusses alongside great NBA centers. That's not how you have always won with them. You put tough defensive roleplayers alongside them. The one and only exception to that rule was Robert Horry, who was still a top defensive player, and of course clutch shooter.
